i checked on serebii and it said smeargle learns sketch very 10 turns, but im not sure its true b/c it also said it cant learn any other moves from tm/hms, breeding, tutor, yet colleseum gave it moves... anyways based on this theory, if you use sketch, this pokemon can learn any 4 moves possible, which i think is like having a de-graded mew... all it takes is to have it use sketch on a pokemon that used a move that you like... the only prob. is that it may have a hard time surviving a powerful attack... if it does give it possibly a focus band or evs in def/sp. def.

Yeah, Smeargle can learn almost any move, but I know it can't learn counter, cause counter always gos 2nd. Here's one awesome trick I found on Gamefaqs that has to do with smeargle and sketch, I tried it and it works!

The discovery of this on Rememberance Day (11/11) sent shockwaves through the
entire Pokemon community.

It's simple in theory. Take a Pokemon with Transform, and face off in a trainer
battle against a Sketching Smeargle. Transform into Smeargle, defeat Smearg, and
then wait until the next Pokemon uses a move that you want. Sketch it, then beat
the second Pokemon. After the fight, the move you Sketched should replace
Transform. To get Transform back, simply run the Pokemon through Pokemon Stadium
2's Move Returner. Repeat until you have a full moveset.

What makes this so damaging? Well, it gives Ditto 246 moves to choose from (yay),
and Mew 248. Yes, 248. With its stats? God help us all.

And it gets worse, ladies and gentlemen... On January 12, 2003, I discovered
that this same trick works if you Metronome a Transform. That means there's about
seventy Pokemon by my count (possibly more) that have the potential for 246 moves."

ya but i dont have stadium 2.. plus i think you can also get it back thru the move tutor in fr/lg but since no1 has it yet i cant be certain, but i jsut checked serebii and it didnt have any moves from the move tutor... maybe jsut b/c they assume no1 came up w/ that... neways, even without getting back transform, it can still get any1 move, and cant that move be passed down to w/e pokemon it breeds w/? if it counts as the male that is since males pass down the moves
hey for the ditto thing i jsut realized another way! have it transform into a smeargle that knows sketch and transform (which i can re-learn sketch by lvling and sketch a ditto's transform). ok so have the ditto transform into the smeargle, lets say the smeargle moves are
sketch, transform, flamethrower, surf
once it tranforms, have the real smeargle use lets say surf, then once ditto (hopefully survives it) take the hit, ditto uses sketch, and sketchs the surf, now it knows 2 surf moves... then have the smeargle use flamethower, and then ditto use transform again to gain back transform and sketch, and have smeargle use flamethower, and ditto usef sketch and now it learned permanently surf and flamethrower, also have it use transform again and have it get back sketchand transform...

This is really scary. But, where can you find a trainer Smeargle with sketch? Wouldn't it work with wild ones? And, why would it replace Transform? As in, why would the sketched move, and not any of the other moves, replace transform, or in the case of Mew, one of it's other moves is replaced instead?
Oh yeah. Another thing, it is interesting to note that certain moves cannot be sketched by a trainer owned Smeargle, but can be sketched by a wild Smeargle, and then caught.

Let's take an example, shall we. Mew vs Smeragle

Mew
Transform
Psychic
Fly
------

Smeargle
Rock Slide
Sketch
Hi Jump Kick
------

First round, Mew uses Transform, and changes into Smeargle. All the moves change for Mew too. Smeargle does whatever, Mew can survive.

Mew
Rock Slide
Sketch
Hi Jump Kick
------

Smeargle
Rock Slide
Sketch
Hi Jump Kick
------

Smeargle uses an attack, Mew copies it, using Sketch

Mew
Rock Slide
Rock Slide
Hi Jump Kick
-------

Smeargle
Rock Slide
Sketch
Hi Jump Kick
-------

After that, Mew clears Smeargle away, winning the match. Afterwards, Mew's moves return to normal, apart from the Transform. I guess this part is because of the programming of the game.

Mew
Rock Slide
Psychic
Fly
-------

If Mew could get another move this way, he could learn a lot more moves than just the TMs and HMs.

EDIT: In Red/Blue/Yellow, Mew could also learn Metronome by levelling up, giving Mew a potential of 2 extra attacks learned this way. Of course, the odds for Metronome pulling out Transform is extremely low (especially with the amount of moves now in the game), but it does have the chance to do so. Not sure if Mew can learn Metronome in FR and LG though.

Of course I'm Houndoom, I'm Toothache!
I get Crunch and Bite moves, tasty!
