Heracross @ Choice Scarf
Megahorn
Stone Edge
Close Combat
Night Slash
Adamant; 252 atk/sp, 6 hp
Ability: Guts

This is my lead. I've chosen Night Slash over toxic and pursuit because I've had more problems with gengars than anything else.

Garchomp @ Yache Berry
Outrage
Earthquake
Fire Fang
Swords Dance
Jolly; 252 atk/sp, 6 hp

Typical set up no need to explain it's purpose.

Tyranitar @ Blackglasses
Crunch
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Dragon Dance
Jolly; 252 atk/sp, 6 hp

Another typical set up. Blackglasses increase crunchs power to close to that of stone edge, so a fall back to if I need a good 100% accuracy attack.

Skarmory @ Shed Shell
Roost
Whirlwind
Stealth Rock
Brave Bird
Impish; 108 atk, 148 def, 252 hp
Ability: Keen Eye

Typical set up (with all these typical set ups I'll probably be pretty predicable). Probably my only decent counter to baton passers. Not sure if this is the best ev spread to get the best Defence and attack I'd like. Might trade a few HP evs to speed to outrun a few pokemon.

Gengar @ Life Orb
Shadow Ball
Focus Blast
Thunderbolt
Hypnosis
Timid; 252 sp, 252sp atk, 6 hp

That smile on this pokemon shows the true nature of this set: evil and annoying.

Deoxys - Speed @ Expert Belt
Shadow Ball
Psychic
Thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Modest; 252 sp/ sp atk, 6 hp

This is my favorite pokemon. Late game arrivals spell absolute doom to a team that's taken losses, sandstorm and stealth rock hits. Expert Belt is to give that extra punch against a lot of pokemon that annoy my team (Gengar, Gyarados, Garchomp and Inferape to name a few). The EV spread I'm not sure is totally benefical. I think I can get by with not so many EVs put into speed, but not sure how much I can give up and where to put it. I know the best counter against this pokemon are pokemon with shadow sneak, bullet punch and such.

The strategy with my team is mostly to weaken them enough with my main attackers (Tyranitar, Garchomp, Gengar and Skarmory) so my Heracross and Deoxys - Speed can revenge kill the other pokemon. I've only used this team a few times on shoddy and it's proven effective so far, but I'm wondering if there are better choices to this team or maybe a better lead pokemon.

...No, just no.

Shed Shell saves Skarmory from Magnezone, which is quite popular these days. So the item isn't stupid at all. :| You should refrain from rating without the proper knowledge.

Agree with Beqachboy on shed shell, also, his set is DD Tar standard, so he wants LO. Also, on ScarfCross, you might want Pursuit>> Night Slash to deal with annoying Gengar switches, and it does quite a bit to Gengar. I'm still a rookie at damage calcs, so I'll leave someone else to do that.

Also, Scarftran can do quite a number on your team here, OHKOing them all with Fire Blast, Earth Power, and HP Ice/Dragon Pulse. I recommend a Scarftran counter, and since you have two revenge killers in Gar and Deo, I would sup one of them out for a Heatran counter like Vappy or Star.

So ignoring the changes in what items should be equipped to my pokemon. Garchomp or Deoxys would be the ones to switch with with either vaporeon or Starmie. I feel that Deoxys Speed is worse to lose than garchomp. I guess Vapereon would be better for this team since it could use some wish support since I'd be switching out with my pkmn a lot.
Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Surf
Wish
HP Electric
Ice Beam
Bold; 252 Def, 72 sp atk, 184 HP.

Since I'd lose physical attack power by losing garchomp to make sure Heracross stays alive, would putting Skarmory as the lead compensate for the loss of losing Garchomp? I'd be setting up stealth rock earlier. So would these be suitable changes?

You seem to be running an offensive team, so Specs Vappy is always and option.

If you want to replace something, drop Deoxys, unless you intend to run a different set. It has coverage on its side, not raw power...

Skarm struggles to lead. It is slow, gets shut down by most status and can be taunted.
A number of leads also carry Fire Blast/Flamethrower for Bronzong...

Decent team, though. You are one of the few newbies who really knows what they are doing.

Well, I didn't intend to change Deoxys in the first place, but after you mentioning it and that it seems I lack a reliable lead pokemon, Deoxys could be used a lead for my team I suppose if I was to still use it though I'm not sure what would be a good moveset to use with it.

Thanks for the compliment.

Life Orb, Shuca Berry or Leftovers over Blackglasses, the 20% items aren't used for a reason y'know. This is for Tyranitar btw

Skarmory could use 8 Spd EVs to outrun other Skarmorys, but any more and you are wasting. 108 Attack EVs seems a little too much, but I can't be bothered with calculations. You only need enough to guarentee a 3HKO on 216/176 BulkyDos and a 2HKO on LODos. Not sure how much less EVs you need though. Everyone knows 216/148/144 is the best BulkyDos spread now, but some people are still behind the times.

Superpower over Psychic, Psychic has bad coverage on Deoxys-E and you need Superpower to clean up against Tyranitar and Blissey. Naive nature.

Extremely Heatran weak here, Vapereon over Heracross fixes this.
Vaporeon w. Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 Def, 124 HP, 132 SpDef
Bold Nature
Surf
HP Electric
Wish
Protect

Thought I'd also mention Garchomp weak and CBTar weak. Gliscor over Skarmory fixes this too. (Though Garchomp there is no true counter for)
Gliscor w. Leftovers
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 HP, 76 Spd, 180 Def
Impish Nature
Earthquake
Ice Fang
Roost
Stealth Rock

As for Baton Passers, most good teams have an Ingrainer anyway (Smeargle) so you can't Phaze them away.
