I've known about Wi-Fi pokemon battles for quite some time...but I must know...how exactly do you battle online with pokemon Diamond and Pearl...and do you HAVE to be lv. 100???

You add a friend code of someone and you go to the the wifi lady in the lower level of the PokeCenter and Battle. You can choose Free level, 100 or 50.Single or DOuble

You go into a PC basement and get the palpad off the woman furthest to the right. You then register somebody's fc (And them you) and you proceed into the wifi room, and it will tell you which of the registered codes you have are online. You then select either single or double battle, and whether you want a lvl 50, lvl 100, or free battle. Level battles scale up your pokemon and their stats to the desired stage, while free battles are played with the state your pokemon are currently in.

Okay, well...since I'm gettin into this whole thing...to enter the lv. 50 battles, u have to train your pokemon to lv 50...am I right? or can they be higher and when you enter they'll automatically change to lv. 50?
Well, as of now I have NO friend codes...where can i get ppl to give me their friend codes?
You see i started over in diamond on monday, and now i have a lv. 22 turtiwg, murkrow, buneary and a lv. 23 buizel...I guess I need to train more b4 i get into the wi-fi battles right?

If you enter in the lvl 50 or lvl 100 battles, your pokemon will be automatically set at that level, no matter what they are in reality. So you could do a lvl 100 battle and your turtwig (I'm guessing it's actually Grotle?), Murkrow, Buneary, and Buizel will all be lvl 100 in the battle.

However, if you want to do wi-fi battling... you've got a lot of work to do. If you want to be competitive and not just get your face smashed in, you're going to have to breed for IVs and Natures, EV train, and design a 6-pokemon team that works well together with strong pokemon. See the Strategies & Movesets forum for help on all of this.

You have to actually ask somebody for it. If you are both registered in each other's games, any of your online friends will show up when you enter the lobby, saying whether they are idle, battling or trading.

You also need to know whether the people you will be facing are casual or competetive. Casual players will battle for fun alone, and just raise their pokemon as per usual and use their favorites rather than the best. Competetive players will be intent on winning, and will use the best pokemon possible to do so. They will also use specialist training techniques called EV training and breed for high stats and good movesets. It is very difficult to get into competetive battling this early into the game, so steer away from competetive battlers. They will just wipe the floor with you and you won;t have any fun.

I'd just play through the game for fun first, and finish it. Just use your favorites and level them and don't worry about EV's and all that. But start reading up on that stuff, and when you're ready you can start experimenting with that, if you want to.
