Alright, so I got platinum in the mail yesterday, but stopped right before i ripped it open. On my other games, I have like 3 EV trained pokemon, and it's very time consuming and boring. I was wandering: Would it be easier to EV train as I progress through the game so I don't get bored, or still wait until I'm done with the main story line? Thanks

Definately not. You don't need to worry about EV training for in-game purposes, as any half-decently constructed team will serve the purpose. EV training and IV breeding should be left until after the game is completed. Just enjoy the experience!

Incorrect.
A team does not need to be half decent to win in-game :P

I should have factored Gofre and his horrible teams into consideration. Yes...even Gofre can complete the game, so not even half decent is required.

XD

It does in Platinum, with the upped AI. :/

I, personally, don't feel like EV training and breeding until I finish the game, but if you feel like getting it done earlier, I don't think it would hurt anything at all.

EV training in easy steps

1. Get a power item(power anklet, power lens, power bracer, power weight, power band and power belt each double's EV's gained)16 B.P each
2. get pokerus(double's EV's)
like if you fight a gyarados with the attack power item you get 4 ev then a nothe for for the pokerus
3. train in stats.

takes about 10 minutes to fully ev train a poke with these steps

I am sorry.. but the power items don't give double evs. They add 4 ev's to whichever stat the item is related to. E.G: If you have the power weight (which helps HP) and you fight a bidoof, you would get 5 hp evs. Even if you fought, say, a starly, you would still get 1 speed ev and 4 hp evs. Power item usefulness does not change. It always adds 4 the the given stat. So if you fought a gyarados with the
sp. attack power item and pokerus, you would receive 12 sp. attack evs. Imperialist, I hope that clears it up for you.

Macho Brace doubles EV gain. That is the only item that does so.

No, Power Items quadruple the single stat they specialize in. You can use those or Macho Brace.

Its also kind of impossible to do it so early when some of the good EV pokes are not seen yet.

Like it's been said, EV training doesn't have to be as time consuming as one might think.

Power items + Pokerus + vitamins can really help. But you'd have to wait until the after game to have access to lots of money, friends with pokerus and the ability to purchase the power items.

Good luck with Platinum!
