i am looking to get one of the new pokemon games finally but i am unsure as to which system to get. Nintendo DS or the Nintendo DS Lite? I have looked at reviews and some say the DS is better while others say the DS lite is better. So which one would all of you recomend?

and you don't need to but which of the two pokemon games would you recomend as better if either is? :P

Kinda in the wrong section, but I'll answer anyway.

DS Lite > DS in every way, shape, and form. Brighter screen, smaller, sleeker, more sylish. Choose your color. Only downside is fingerprints and scratches are visible on the top.

As for which version, it's all up to your personal preferences. This page shows which pokemon are obtainable on the different games. I got both, but I got Diamond first, because I liked Dialga more than Palkia. But again, it's all up to personal preference.

Yeah, I would say the DS Lite is the way to go, although when you play GBA games on the DS Lite they stick out. It doesn't hurt the game play, but it does look weird. :/

Ah, forgot about the GBA games. Yeah, they stick out about half an inch, which makes them look kinda strange. :/

Im kindof upset about buying my ds lite

I absolutely LOVE it to be honest,

but I gave up my older ds and my sp,

i still have 1 sp, but no charger (lost one way back when...)

Now I cant play my older games (red blue silver etc)

unless i buy Double A's for my GBC,

Long story short,

WHY DIDNT THEY KEEP THE SAME CHARGER???

Probably to keep the size down, or maybe just so you would have to buy a different one.

Also, the DSi is coming out next spring. You might not want to wait that long, but its an option.

The DSI doesnt look to good tbh

It is almost identicle to the light,

only slightly smaller with a few different featurs

Different speakers, mic is slightly more circular, and a wierd circle on outside (wireless trading and such)

But, it cannot play any gba games supposedly, which is a huge dissapointment for me

I am all about functionality, and that doesnt seem too functional of an upgrade.

I would recomend the DS lite. It has 4 different levels of light and has a better stylus.

I think the DS Lite is the only one available now anyways, so there isn't much to choose from.

Well, it's not like it's incredibly hard to find a used fat DS. So if money is a factor, that might be the route to go, but otherwise, every other factor favors the DS Lite.

And I concur with Brien about the DSi, they just added a bunch of minor upgrades and unnecessary new features at the cost of stuff that was actually significant and useful, aka battery life and the GBA slot - which brings up an interesting point of contention for the Pokemon series. Want to migrate pokemon from GBA games, or have a certain GBA game inserted so you can go catch that specific pokemon only found in the 4th gen games through this method? Doesn't seem like you'll be able to do that with the DSi! I'm just hoping the release of the DSi knocks the DS Lite's prices down so I can snag another.

Actually I prefer the DS. The Battery lasts longer, due to less power being used on the screen, it retains the GBA-SP Charger and mostly because it is more comfortable in your hands. The DSlite is smaller and can give you sore hands after hours of playing, as well as smaller, cheaper-feeling buttons.

DS FTW!

I agree there although I'll add that I also prefer the DS's shape over the DS lite's, its too squareish not nice and curvy like its origin forme :P (sorry for the bad joke)
