Are any of you guys getting Call of Duty: World at War?
I just preordered the special edition for 360.

The stupid guy at EB said they had no special eiditons left, AND preordered WoW instead, so I went down to JB HiFi and they had loads of copies.

I can't wait, and something that just made me even more excited was announced, after you finish the game you unlock ZOMBIE MODE.

I'm only getting it (for PC) if bolt-action rifles with iron-sights are balanced against SMGs and sniper rifles, and if it has custom classes for multiplayer like CoD4 does.
Flamethrowers will undoubtedly be the ultimate noob weapon that everyone whines about. D:

I'd also like the M1 Garand to be reloadable.
It can be done, and is done as follows: Pull back the cocking handle, press the release button, clip pops out, insert new clip, push cocking handle forward.
It shouldn't have to be "bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang ping" every bloody time.

Regarding Bolt-Actions, I feel the same way. Currently in the beta they're incredibly weak and useless, but there's a massive uproar about it on the forums so it will no doubt be fixed.
It does have custom classes, perks, etc. using the same system as CoD4.

And the flamethrower isn't unlocked until level 60+ so you have to be half-decent to get your hands on it.

Well that's good, hopefully they'll fill some wide enough role in the end... It's like ACOG-scoped sniper rifles in CoD4 I suppose, that sort of mid/long-range shootout niche that every other weapon besides shotguns fill perfectly anyway (especially since LMGs have recently been added to the inventory of usable weapons in the CoD series).
I can see it already — in the future: patches to make bolt-actions more useful.

If all else fails though, I've watched some beta gameplay today and noticed the Gewehr 43 is in the game; some pwning to be had with that. :D
Bazooka will make a nice perk weapon to pwn tanknubs.

I might go with a scoped G43 + MG34 + Bazooka setup and play hardcore if that's in WaW.

Not really, to get to 55 in CoD4 you just have to play for 50 hours if that (and we all know how fast we accumilate 50 hours of playtime with such addictive multiplayer).

Something I've noticed, silencers and what looks like a red dot sight are usable attachments?
... That's gonna have the advocates of realism in uproar.

Well, what I mean is, you can't just pick up the game and go LOL FLAMETHROWER, you need to use proper weapons first, and it'll probably have next-to-no ammo.

I believe they're known as suppressors in-game, which yes are silencers, but they were used during World War II.
The sights are not red dot sights, but I've forgotten what they're called.

Flamethrower + bandolier neh it's probably a perk weapon.
Given that everyone's on low levels in the beta and firing rockets, I'll at least be able to go LOLBAZOOKA. :D

True, but the RDS-like attachment is really off-throwing. It just makes it seem like one of those secret Nazi project things that Medal of Honor has become so fond of as of late, and I don't like secret Nazi project stuff when it's put in games.
I use irons in most cases anyway, so if it satisfies people with an RDS preference then fair enough.

After playing the Beta... it's not as good as CoD4. Then again I didn't expect it to be. But still, I got the Collector's Edition on Pre-order so I'll be picking it up the day it comes out.

I took a few screenshots from the PC beta.

Spoiler:

Whet your appetite? :)

I have to say, after being disappointed with the 360 beta, I'm really loving the PC version. The pace kicks up considerably thanks to larger servers, but there's still a nice element of thinking involved, a welcome change from the spam of COD4. Plus, there's something so immensely satisfying about mowing down 5 Tommy wielders with a Mosin-Nagant. It's like cutting through butter. :D

Gonna get some S&D scrims going with my clan soon, should be fun. <3

Spoiler:

If the graphics of CoD5 is like this above...(this is my account), I'll purchase. The Flamethrower's a great addition they say.
You seem to have raised the contrast a lot... why? The M60 looks like some kind of... hippie thing.

Decent visuals are decent.
Not perfect however, but then what game does have perfect graphics.

On the whole it's par with CoD4. The UI gun texture looks notably better though.

He's taking a stab at the more modern games which tend to include a very low amount of colours.

Almost everything is brown, for instance.
People say that a lot recently but I don't see what they're on about.
Everything's just as colourful to me now as it was five+ years ago. The only thing that's changed to me is the addition of bloom, improved lighting and higher texture resolution... so really, all that's changed to me is that it's now HD in shiny.

Mind you, I've played naturally 'brown' games all my life. I take it everyone played the SNES or something while I was running around as Jimmy Patterson.

I'd get it but from what I've heard its nothing more than a weaker version of COD4 set in WWII.
That's pretty much it. It has vehicles though so it could be debated... but then it doesn't have airstrikes, shame.

Someone should make a WWI shooter instead, or an actually decent Vietnam one.

I actually am looking foward to this game. The graphics look, and OMG FLEIMTRUERS!

Not like I have a choice anyway, my 50-year-old-man is too excited anyways :P.

Why weaker?

From what I've played so far, It's like a better version of CoD4 set in WWII.

Weaker as in not much has changed gameplay wise (this does not include the era it's put in). I mean, it still uses an exact copy of the perk system (most of them are the same with different names <.<) and a not-so-rewarding prestige system. I've also heard that it plays, feels, and looks like a giant clone of COD4 (excluding the vehicles).
