Quoth the thread title, 'Do you Recycle?'.

By 'recycling', I mean actual physical conservation. Furthermore, the definition of recycling, according to dictionary.com, is "to treat or process (used or waste materials) so as to make suitable for reuse: recycling paper to save trees."

To prevent this from being a simple yes or no thread, I'll promote further discussion with these questions~:

If you recycle:
  • Why do you recycle?
  • Specifically, what do you recycle?
  • What steps do you go through in order to recycle?

If you don't recycle:
  • Why don't you recycle?
  • Do you think recycling is a good thing to do?
  • Do you think recycling helps?
  • Do you ever plan on starting to recycle?

Personally, I recently started recycling more often. :)
I recycle because I want to help make a difference - I want to help conserve our resources instead of making new ones. It's the strategic thing to do, in my opinion. I see no reason why not to recycle if it somewhat helps. As it stands now, society as a whole is essentially a 'disposable society'. When you're done with something, you just toss it in the trash, which goes to a landfill/incinerator.
However, you only have resources like landfills for so often. Eventually, we'll run out.
Instead of burning it so it's not usable again, why not take it to a center to make something previously useless in to something functional. :)

As I previously stated, we recently started recycling more often - we recycled in the past, yet it was only aluminum cans.
We stopped doing that for a while, but now we have recently started doing so again at the insistence of not only myself but also my father.
However, now we've started to recycle plastics such as water bottles, milk jugs, bread sacks, and we're planning on getting a trash can for paper-related products for newspapers and other various forms of paper. Probably the only thing left would be glass, but we don't really use stuff that's made of glass much any more.
In order to recycle, we crush our cans/bottles/milk jugs/etc to conserve space in the bag and then keep doing this until the bag is full. Then, out goes the bag and in goes another. Eventually, the bag is hoisted to the recycling center and... the cycle keeps going. :)

And, go~!

My family recycles but now most people in England do or in my area does.
We get a Black/Green bin for waste that can't be recycled and a Blue bin for items which can be recycled.

We recycle all we can normally because it all helps and goes towards the bigger picture which is the Earth.

I do recycle.

I recycle, because, well... I've always done it. Ever since I was a little kid paper, organic waste and metal were separated from the other trash in our house. Well, I think most people do that in Finland. Of course I also know how much it saves the environment, so I always feel bad if I, for example, have to throw an alumin can to regular garbage. And of course you get some money from the bottles and cans, too. ^^ (though you have paid that money when you bought the product but still...)

I recycle paper, metal, glass bottles, plastic bottles and organic waste. (does organic waste count as recycling or is it just separating the waste?) I don't recycle much plastic, but I don't even know where it would be collected if I did. If I'm cleaning my room, I try to put every useless piece of paper I have into the recycling bin. Of course all newspapers go in there too. I couldn't even think abou throwing a newspaper into regular garbage. :O

We have a big basket for paper waste, and when it's full (or when it's overflowing :P) we take it to the big container for recycled paper couple miles away. For metal, we do the same thing. Plastic bottles and alumin cans we take to the nearest store and to the automatic collector there. (uhh, I really don't know the right terms in english) Organic waste we take to the compost in our yard.

Haha, I found this to be a very refreshing idea for a topic; thanks, Erik! wait, you're female, I'm confuzzled

I do recycle. I just think it's nice; I mean, seriously, how would NYC look today if every single person cleaned up after themselves? It'd be a much nicer place to live, that's for sure.

We have a recycling bin for newspapers/scrap paper, a garbage pail for cans/bottles and then other larger things we take to Wal-Mart or a grocery store to put in the coin machines every couple months. It helps clear space in the garage. My brother, though, could use a recycling facility in his bedroom for all the soda cans he leaves in there. X_X THERE WAS LIKE, TEN UNDER HIS BED! WHO DOES THAT!?!

Of course I recycle...It would be kind of pointless not to. It's such an easy thing that people can do to help clean up and conserve our resources. I mostly recycle plastic bottles and such, since I get a lot of vending machine drinks =P

I do recycle, because it can help clean the environment and it can't cause pollution. I recycle non-biodegradable things like cans, papers, plastics, etc... By recycling, you can make some things like, plastic bag or posters. Recycling makes the environment and surroundings clean. :D

Yes I do recycle. I see all these complaints on telly and I don't say a thing about it. I just do it. I recycle:

o Banana peels
o Cans of lemonade, coke, fanta, etc...
o Leftovers
o Dirty sawdust from the rabbit hutch (and hay)
o Leftovers from rabbit food
o Newspapers
o Cardboard

Everyday life stuff really...

My family recycles all of our glass/plastics/aluminum cans, but we don't really recycle paper a lot. It mostly goes into the burn barrel...

As for actually recycling (taking an old something or other and reuse it), we do that a lot. Plastic bags take the place of packaging peanuts, and shoe boxes become science projects and a mini-storage spot. We also compost all of our unused food. Gotta love compost.
