when you see a grass rustle, the one 4 spots away will ALWAYS be the pokemon before it. You must also always either defeat the pokemon, or capture it. NEVER run away from it. also, bring repels, beacuse using pokeradar doesn't mean wild pokemon won't come, and if they do, your chain will break

uhhh6677, that's not always true at all. You never have a 100% chance of running into the previous Pokémon. Maybe a 50% chance, or a 95% chance, or even a 97.5% chance, but never 100%. And with the "4 steps away" thing; it's a bit more complicated than that. I could go off and write up a crude guide for people, but other websites have that already (SPPf being one).

My highest chain is 56 Flaaffy.

Correct, this "4 steps away" or what I call the 4th ring method can be seen here. There are still some faulty patterns so it's not a 100% guarantee, but it helps.

My highest was 126 with Ponyta. I found 8 shinies, but I only caught 7. I accidentally fainted one..

70 Pachirisu and I got 2 shiny. My most successful chain was 58 Tauros and I got 5 shiny.

At first, it was 24 Roselia without repels, and before I even knew what chaining was, while trying to raise a certain Pokemon.

Once I found out how to chain, that 24 became 26. No shinies yet, still trying.
