My favourite it Hitmewchan. Stupid name, though....

Keep in mind that I did Cytto first and Sikegon last. I'm working on more now.

New one:

Koffing with arms (Kharm?)

And, of corse, Mewthree. This one is more of a percise clone of Mew, but still has some kinks. They'll get that darned machine working in time to make a Mewfour that works :P

Note I did not use any sprite parts, except for, of corse, G1 Mew.

They're not bad... but why you're using old-as-fire sprites is beyond me. Try using Advanced or DPP sprites... the results will look a lot more updated even if it takes more work.
There are plenty people that prefer the old school look over the new one.

I don'e even own D/P/P, and the only reason I have Emerald is because my neighbor left it at my house and never asked for it back :P

I much prefer the old games; extremely R/B/Y. I like to stick to them, because it is what I know best. I know how all the sprites look already, so it is alot easier too. I may try newer ones soon, but not untill I am good at the simpler ones. There are only 4 coulors at a time, which is cool. But thanks for the advice!

By the way, I just found out how much easier MS paint is than Photoshop.

Yes, paint is very easy.
You should consider Cosmigo ProMotion or Graphics Gale though.
They're more complicated, but so much easier to use when you're used to them. They have many more handy options then Paint.

I sometimes also prefer the past games. I really love Gold, I think that would be my favourite both game and art wise.

Really? I wasn't aware. I must not be paying attention then, 'cause I haven't seen a thread with GSC/RBY style sprites in well over a year.
mine has a couple on it ^_^

anyhow...these are not too bad for a start!

you need to work on making your sprites more natural looking... they are a bit copy paste layer looking, where you can totally see the stamp on... you need to make the coloration the same, like on the wings of the gravelor guy...and just work on making your shading coherent in general...

either than that, you're doing a good job

Yea, that Graveler guy really sucks. I may improve it, but I won't get around to it anytime soon.

Made a few adjustments to Mewthree:

And now, I am trying to make slight variations to all the Pokemon in R/B/Y. For practice. It'll be fun.
I am not going to use parts from other pokemon often, but there will be exceptions. Like the starter familys and such. Here is goes so far:

moments.

Eh you have some nice ones here especially Hitmewchan.
I think you are pretty brave for using the older sprites as they don't give you much to offer. But if you used the newer ones, you would be pretty darn awesome at this.
It is up to you, I would consider some recolours to help you with your shading and what colours work well together because it seems you are lacking there.
Nice stuff.

The sabaron was nicely done... stick with what you know best! if you feel comfortable using first gen sprites, please do... it is also a different change to see them...

anyhow, down to buisness...

charmander with the squirtle tail really looks copy/pasted...there is no flow, it just screams "my tail!!! some one cut it off and replaced it with this feather fluff!!!"

charmelion looks good, again, the wings just seem a bit stamped on, with the black outline looking a bit rigid under the feather wing ear things...

charizard just looks plain bad...it is really awkward, and has a pained posed...the flower just doesnt fit well...

you did a nice job editing off ivy's pod and squirtle's shell, but ruined ivy with the bad copy paste flame... same with squirtle...it's really copy/pasted.

Venu looks fantastic! you did a great job putting in the cannons! nice job on that one!

nice edit on warturtle...and the flames look so so on blastoise...they're c+/B-

caterpie...the arms are WAY to rigid...it is like a skeleton, broken then glued back together...it is just to stick like, although i commend you for scratching!

as for metapod...the web looks intricate and kinda neat, good job on that...

butterfree...nice job again on editing out body parts...

weedle has the same problems with copy/paste, it seems stamped on, and the haze is distracting...

kakuna looks good, you did a fine job on the editing, just watch the copy/paste natural look...

as for......there is a funky green on the bottom, the tail is choppy, and it just looks weird in general with antenae...the green looks default, which you should never use when spriting! when spriting in paint, since that is what i presume that you are using, make you own colors, dont use what they give you, not even the black! the default colors hurt the eyes and bring unnessary critisim...

my favorite? DRAGOSHI!!!

sure the shading to the left of the upper chest is off (being all dark) but you did a great job editing out the wings, and putting in yoshi's head! that's great! you did a great job on that one, and i like it the most!

So there it is! Great job, and keep it up! Cant wait for more!

Keep Spriting!

Hey now. Yes, they're a bit rude about it, but it is the wrong place for that. But oh well, let's forget about it and go on to sprites. ;D What do you say?

I really like the fact that you use older sprites. Simpler does not mean that it should be looked down upon by the later generation sprites. Once you get a good feel for the old sprites you could even try some de-vamps to increase your pool of sprites that you can splice from!
