If we're strictly speaking about Gen III events...

Well the AR is only fair for most people who don't want to go to a faraway place just to get one pokemon.
So unless I'm very lucky and can have an event near me, I'll use AR.
Word.

Not only that, but because all of the RSE events are pretty much obsolete, you really have no choice but to use a device like AR nowadays. If you're extremely lucky, you know someone who's willing to trade and was hardcore enough to go out of their way to get to said events. Otherwise, yeah.

Bragging about it, however, or saying "OMG i can has shiny jeerachee w/ perfect ivs olololol" is not something I find cool because, seriously, anyone can use AR.

I've already been to most events, but since RSE events don't happen anymore, I think it's fine for others to use AR to unlock those events.

People always think I'm some crazy anti-hack nut, but I'm only upset when hackers pass off their pokemon as legit when it's not; thus, they're scamming.

By the way, as for the Jirachi comment, Jirachi isn't that hard to get :P

Just ask someone with the Bonus Disc :P
I never said it was hard. That = hypothetical situation. =/

Using AR is perfectly fine as long as it's not abused. It's a great tool for saving countless hours doing boring/trivial/repetitive things and going out of your way for a single Pokemon. However, people hacking Pokemon for all perfect IVs, illegal movesets/stats and those sort of things are not acceptable, especially when those people use those Pokemon in battles/trades to waste other people's time, especially if that person if one who plays legitimately.

Well I'm fine with ARs since they usually save you time and they can help you, like if you have been looking for a pokemon, and you have been searching for a long time, you can just use ARs and finally get them without wasting your time.

i use action replay to get event pokemon and thats it. i would never trade them to anyone and usually i put the item that gives you the event to get them. as long as your not just hacking perfect legendaries/non-legendaries i think its cool as long as you dont battle people with them or if you do you tell them EXACTLY how you got the pokemon. and anyways it takes the fun out of the game and the legitimacy of filling your pokedex.

I don't care if people use the AR or not. They're wasting their money and ruining their fun with that thing by getting events/Shinies/etc in like 5 minutes.

But if people use it, they should keep the Pokémon in their games.
Imagine having a legit Shiny that you've caught by yourself and it took you months to get it. Then you trade it for something else and realise it's some worthless hack that everybody could get in a few minutes. You'd feel awful, no?
Pretty much the same with battling using Pokémon you trained by yourself against a bunch of Pokémon with 999 in every stat.

I'd rather have a Sunkern with 0 IV in every stat than a hacked Shiny Rayquaza with flawless IV's.

Wow, I've been mass-approving posts on this thread. Great opinions, everyone. ^_^

You think it's ruining fun. So be it. You are allowed to feel that way. My point is, though, that not everyone finds the same things fun. I personally find hacking entertaining. I used the shiny encounters code a few times, but I don't especially live with it turned on. I found a legitimate shiny, and ever since I've been thankful for having just one, not a whole box full of hacks. I am waiting for the shaymin event to get a legit one. Is that wrong? Is hacking a shaymin wrong? I'd say no to both of those, as long as you don't say a hacked shaymin is legit. >_< As I say, a shaymin is a shaymin. It doesn't matter to me.

But if people use it, they should keep the Pokémon in their games.

Yes, scammers are awful. I agree totally. My exception to not trading is when someone knows that my Pokémon is hacked, and they give me something next to worthless for it.

Pretty much the same with battling using Pokémon you trained by yourself against a bunch of Pokémon with 999 in every stat.

I personally find hacking 999 stats to be pointless.
I mean, your Pokémon is nearly invincible. Where's the fun in that?
Some people, however, do find fun in making 999 stat Pokémon. I bet most of those people don't even use the creatures in wi-fi battles.

I also agree about the IVs. A few perfect IVs are fine, but don't go overboard. (I like having one or two perfect, one under ten, and the rest around twenty.)

I mainly hack for EVs or items/TMs. When I find a legit TM in-game, I give it away. Sometimes, people give me their Pokémon so I can hack a tutor move onto them. Of course, I always tell them beforehand exactly how I will get that move. (well, not step-by-step, but you get the idea.)

Oh, and that one arceus so I could get a smeargle which knows judgement. I had wanted one for so long.

Hackers aren't wrong; anti-hackers aren't bad. It really depends on the context.

I don't care, as long as people don't do 31 max IVs or anything that makes it un-legit. I think it is fine to battle with cheats, but they HAVE to be legit. What is the fun in strategy if you only use 999 stats, and illegal movesets?

In Gen III, yeah i have used AR to get event only Legendaries to finish my Pokedex, and they where released straight after.
In Gen IV, no i haven't used AR, however i would be more likely to consider doing that than trading legit shines/EV trained Pokémon for an event which has a 50% chance of been hacked, because at least that way, i don't loose my legit Pokémon, AR is only ok if your not going to trade/battle with the Pokémon you get with it.

I meant ruining fun as getting something invincible for battles or at the beginning of the game. What's the point if you beat the entire game in.. I don't know, an hour?

And I'm not saying hacking is wrong, it's wrong only when you trade off the hacks for something legit and the other person doesn't know.

Oddly, some people do find that fun.

I'm not one of them, though.

I believe you. I must have misread your post.

I have to be careful, however. I once used EV cheats and surpassed the limit of 510. I have no idea how it happened, but I'm still re-breeding my team. One of the Pokémon was a legit jirachi. :(
Fortunately, the one person who battled me accepted the idea of a rematch to make up for my mistake.

I have used an Action Replay to activate events to receive event-only Pokémon because I don't have the ability to go to the events.
Thats what I do, I dont think it ruins the fun, i mean in emerald You have to go to these differnt Islands, id rather go to the islands to see them and participate in what I have to do such as the chasing Mew mini game.
