Pampered to Wild

Summary: The epic tale of a young Meowth's journey from her home in the Kanto reagon, through the Johto. Can a small house kitten hope to survive in the wild? Understanding oneself is only the beginning.

Disclaimer: In no way shape or form do I own pokemon. The idea for Lily and her family are mine though. "Meow meowth..." lol

OoOoOoOoOoOo

"The fierce hunter stalks her prey." A shadow moved quickly, darting from one bush to the next. The prey completely unaware, sat in a pool of sunlight basking in the warmth it provided. "It's kill or be killed. The way of the huntress is a life full of danger. But one I welcome with open paws."

The prey was then reveled to be a small Teddiursa. It sat completely motionless out in the open, with no idea its number was soon to be up. Its parents were nowhere in sight and the small feline flexed her claws as she took note of the fact she was positioned just slightly downwind.

The small cat pokemon smiled and unsheathed her claws in preparation for the final lunge. Her prey was within range and she was ready. She couldn't afford to miss; she'd gone too long with no food.

This was it...

Her prey seemed to take notice of her then. The small bear let out a small squeak of terror and attempted to run. It was too late though, much too late.

With a snarl worthy of a Persian, she leapt at the Teddiursa and attacked viciously and suddenly. The small bear was doomed from the start, there was no escape once she had set her sights on you.

"Rarwr!"

"Hey April!" a young girl called, looking over the fence of her neighbor’s small backyard. "Your Meowth's mauling another teddy bear again." She smiled down at the small kitten and winked.

."Oh Lilly, you're all dirty now." A girl with long curly black hair in two pigtails sighed as she walked out the backdoor drying her hands on a dish towel. "And where's your pink ribbon?" She glared at the small kitten with hands securely on her hips.

"Meowth?" Lily said sheepishly. "Meow meowth meow." She stared down at her paws taking notice of the dirt and mud caked on them. Her human liked to keep her clean and pretty, but this wasn't what Lilly wanted

And then the words Lily dreaded most were spoken. "Now I'm going to have to give you a bath." April shook her head in frustration. She'd had a date planned for this evening too.

"Meowth!" Lily gulped, and attempted to run, only to find herself running in place. Her human had a hold of her tail, and by the angry expression on her face she knew she wasn't going to be getting away anytime soon. "Meowth..." she sighed in defeat and obediently allowed herself to be picked up.

"Prmeow."

Lily glanced down quickly from April's arms and laughed nervously. A Persian stood at April's feet looking up at her with an 'I know what you did and we'll talk later look.' This was no ordinary Persian however.

"Why can't you be more like your mother and sisters?" April asked when she noticed the Persian at her feet. As they walked through the house towards the bathroom Lily couldn't help but notice half a dozen awards and ribbons decorating the mantle of a fancy fire place. All of these her mother’s.

Her mother, Diamond, had been a contest genius. Her elegant moves, ferocious fighting style, and charm had quickly earned her the appeal of more then a few of the judges. All of this back when she'd only been a Meowth, too.

Lily's three sisters also seemed to excel in their contest training, and were awaiting the day when they'd each be given to a trainer. While her three sisters were eagerly selected by trainers, coordinators, and the occasional breeder, Lily had been overlooked.

A short time later found Lily laying on a soft blue cushion in a window seat overlooking April's Goldeen pond. She was clean, dried, and wore a new, bright, pink ribbon around her neck. She scratched her hind leg in rapid motion to try and loosen the annoying ribbon.

"You really should behave more ladylike. It's unbecoming for a young Meowth of our stature to run around imagining, and getting into trouble. What will you do if no human ever wants you?" Diamond sent her daughter an annoyed look when she got tangled up in the ribbon and fell to the floor in a heap.

"Sorry mother, really, but I can'this. I want adventure and danger. I want to be out there." Lily glanced toward the window while her mother tried to untangle her. She hopped up on the window seat once more once she was free. "I'm not contest material."

Diamond shook her head in frustration. It was best to leave her daughter to her thoughts at times like this. She too had a slight wild streak in her youth, but quickly molded herself to take the role of a contest pokemon.

Perhaps this life wasn't for her daughter. What other life was there? Lily would just have to become more used to it. As she left, Diamond promised herself to intensify Lily's training the next day.

Lily glanced up, suddenly having momentarily dozed off. She glanced outside and noticed the sun had already set. "I must have been asleep longer than I thought." She stood and stretched in a catlike manner. Her human was out tonight with that Danny guy.

Lily hadn't liked him much ever since he began coming around. He smelled faintly of oil and chemicals, and carried the scent of many other pokemon. She couldn't put her paw on it, but something about him made her nervous.

Lily padded silently into the kitchen for a drink of water. That was when she saw them. Two men dressed in black with a red letter R on their chest. They were talking quietly together, so they didn't notice Lily slip silently under the table to eavesdrop on their conversation.

"So this is the place huh?" one of the men asked, turning to the other.

"Yea, Danny said the Persian here is worth a goldmine. Her kittens should fetch a healthy profit as well. We're supposed to knock them out with this." The second man held up a small canister. "There's enough knockout gas in here to render a Rhyhorn unconscious for a few hours."

Danny!? Lily thought to herself as she felt her fur bristle in response to this new turn. Her human was completely head over tail in love with that male. The thought of that filthy, no good human using her April like that made her feel sick.

"If memory serves me, the mother and her kittens should be asleep about now. Danny says they have a very strict schedule. They'll be in the upstairs bedroom. We'll just release this little surprise and it's ‘nighty night kitties all the way to Johto headquarters."

"There's no way I'm gonna let that happen!" Lily hissed, and then covered her mouth with her paw. Had they heard her? She glanced up quickly, noticing the hushed voices had stopped. They continued on after a moment, and Lily breathed a sigh of relief

"You know what I hate more than short lunch breaks back at hq?" The first guy asked, and Lily could've sworn she heard him cough lightly as he asked this. "Nosey little pests who put their noses where they don't belong."

Lily scrunched back and hissed as a hand reached for her.

"Now what do we have here?" The man smirked as he pulled Lily from under the table by the scruff of her neck. Lily protested this very loudly, hissing and trying to bite the man. "Roudy lil' thing ain’t ya?"

"Isn't that one of the kittens we're supposed to abduct?" The second man asked as he watched Lily squirm to get free. "Why isn't it asleep like the others?"

"Doesn't matter, she'll be joining them soon enough." The man with the strange R on his chest pulled a small hypodermic needle from his pocket. Lily's eyes widened at this and she began to squirm in earnest now. "Now be a good lil' Meowth and go ‘night night."

"I'll show you a good lil' Meowth, alright." Lily snarled as she sunk her little kitten teeth into the man’s hand. He yelled in a combination of pain and surprise and dropped Lily. She scrambled into the living room where she'd have more room, her paws scrabbling for hold in the kitchen floor.

"Mother! Mother!" Lily screamed, trying to wake her mother, who'd turn these men into a pile of rags.

"What are you waiting for? Grab it before it wakes up the whole neighborhood!" the first man screamed to the second. They both took off for the living room and soon had the small kitten cornered. "It's all over now."

A loud snarl from the second floor caught their attention as Lily's head jerked up in recognition. "Just great, all this commotion woke the mother." The second man pulled a pokeball from his waist and turned to the first. "I'll take care of the Persian, you get the Meowth out of here."

"Alright then." replied the first as he grabbed and quickly injected the needle's contents into a screaming Meowth’s side. The last thing Lily heard before she slipped in a black nothingness was the sound of a ferocious fight followed by, "Forget the rest of them. We've got one, we can always come back for the others later."

Lily was stuffed into a black sack and hauled away into the night, while her mother lay on the floor, paralyzed by a stun spore attack and unable to save her daughter.

OoOoOoOoOoOoOo

Hope everyone enjoyed. Chapter 2 will be up soon, well as soon as my muse get's back from her trip to Hawaii.

Elsewhere on a tropical island a lone pikachu is sipping on a fruit smothie while several humans wait on it hand and foot. "Pi Pi Pika!"

Disclaimer: Me no own pokemon. lol However I would like an Eevee please.

XxXxXxXxXxXxXxXx

Glancing around Lily noticed a few other cages like her own. These contained various pokemon who like herself must have been taken from their homes. She glanced to the side when she heard quiet sobbing.

Lily walked to the right side of her cage and regarded the pokemon in the cage directly next to hers closely. It was small and brown, with a fluffy tail that ended in a white tip. The kitten cocked her head to the side in curiosity as she thought over what it might be

Not a Ratatta, she was sure of that. Perhaps a Pikachu? No those were yellow and sparky. She looked closer and she smiled as she finally figured out what the brown fluffy thing was.

"Hey Zigzagoon, are you ok? Why are you crying?" Lily asked, trying to reach her paw into the other’s cage.

The pokemon in the other turned quickly to glare at Lily as he wiped his eyes of any remaining moisture. "Who are you calling a Zigzagoon? Are you blind? I happen to be an Eevee, and I wasn't crying." Eevee replied icily as he jerked his head to the side.

"Sorry." Lily laughed nervously as she scratched her ear rapidly with her hind leg. A habit she'd developed out of nervousness. "That was going to be my next guess."

Eevee rolled his eyes and looked over the kitten, who didn't appear to be any older then himself. "I'm Ty, by the way. What's your name?"

Lily smiled happily. "I'm Lily. Where are we any way?" She asked, ignoring Ty's outstretched paw. Ty frowned and shook his head lightly.

"Don't you remember anything that happened before you woke up here?"

"Barely…" Lily twitched slightly as she heard a familiar voice. She glared hatefully at the human who entered, along with his partner. Then all of a sudden her memories began to rush back, so quickly in fact she felt dizzy from the surge.

"Hey! Are you ok? Lily?!" Ty banged against the side of his cage. Lily was hunched over slightly as memories of her mother’s fight with Vilplume surfaced once more. "Lily, snap out of it!" Ty stood on his hind legs and looked over in earnest at the shaking form of Lily.

"Well lookie' here." One of the rockets from earlier sneered in Lily's direction. He walked over to her cage and kicked it, earning a yelp of pain from Lily and snarl and show of teeth from Ty. He ignored Ty for the moment and focused on Lily instead who was looking at him in fear. "Not so tough now eh' princess?" He laughed and poured some stale pokemon pellets into the cages of the pokemon in holding.

"No food for you." the rocket laughed when he passed Ty's cage. "Remember who's in charge here and you might not starve." He laughed and kicked Ty's cage, who snarled in defiance, before leaving topside once more.

"Lily, are you ok?" Ty stood as close to the other’s cage as he could manage. Now that the Team Rocket man was gone, Lily seemed to visibly relax. She was still visibly shaking, though.

"I'm ok." Lily sniffled. She looked at the pile of food dumped in her cage then over towards Ty's. There was nothing there, not even a crumb. "What about you? That was really brave sticking up for me that way. But you could've beenhurt."

"Nah, I'm fine Lils. You don't have ta’ worry ‘bout me." Ty smacked a paw to his chest in emphasis. He coughed lightly, but covered it up as a light chuckle. "What we need to do is figure a way out of these cages."

Lily paced around her cage for a few minutes before she turned back to Ty. "There's no way we'll ever get out of here. The cages are locked Ty, we'll never escape." Lily shook her head in despair.

Ty laughed lightly, causing Lily to glance at him in confusion. "There's always a way if you have the key." Ty replied with a smirk. He took a few paces around his own cage, tapped lightly on the bars with his paw, and nodded in a satisfied way. "Time to bust loose. Ice Beam!"

"Wow, that's amazing Ty. The only attacks I know are Bite, Tackle, and Scratch." Lily watched in astonishment as Ty released a powerful ice beam on the bars of his cage. Once three of the bars were frozen over he ran to the back of his cage and rushed forward, slamming into the frozen bars with a quickattack.

"Ow, that hurt." Ty winced as he bounced back. The bars were dented slightly outwards, but far from being broken. He glanced over at Lily, who was depending on him to get them out of this mess. Wincing at the slight pain in his shoulder Ty put even more effort into his quick attack and burst through the bars.

"Ty, you did it!" Lily cheered. She did a doubletake on Ty, and gasped when she saw his wound. "Ty, you’re bleeding."

Instead of replying Ty turned toward Lily's cage and applied the same technique as his own. In a matter of moments both he and Lily were free, along with several other captured pokemon the Rockets had stolen.

Along with the two of them, there was also a Pikachu, Bulbasaur, two Pidgeys, and a Butterfree. Why they had stole all these pokemon was a mystery to Lily. She didn't really care at the moment why though. All she wanted was to get herself and the others as far away from those two men as they could.

"We will be arriving in Olvine City shortly. All passangers please gather your belongings and pokemon, and prepare to disembark. I repeat we will be arriving in Olvine City. Thank you for choosing Racing Azumarill for your travel needs. For those passengers remaining to Hoenn there will be a short 30 minute layover, all other passengers enjoy your stay in the Johto region."

Ty glanced up as the announcement ended. "We'll be getting off here, minus the Rockets of course. Once we leave the ship we'll go our separate ways, until then we stick together and force our way off the plane if necessary." he glanced to his side to see Lily tending his wound, and smiled lightly before turning back to the others. "Understood?"

There was a unanimous cry of yes from the other pokemon. Just then the two Rockets from earlier entered. "Hey, why are the pokemon all out of their cages?" the first Rocket asked, confused.

"Run for the door!" Ty yelled quickly when he noticed the second Rocket reaching for a pokeball at his waist. They quickly made a mad dash for the open door while the Rockets were still stunned. They were quickly recovering though, enough to possibly counter their escape attempts.

The two Pidgey were the first out the door and soared freely into the clear blue sky.

"Grab them, you idiot! If they all get away the boss will kill us!" the second Rocket screamed to the first.

Lily glanced back and slowed her pace when she noticed Ty running slower than the others due to a slight limp in his injured leg. The Bulbasaur and Pikachu dashed ahead and sprinted out the door just slightly ahead of Butterfree.

"Lily, don't come back for me." Ty growled and snapped in her direction when she rushed to his side. Lily rolled her eyes at his somewhat of an attempt atchivalry."Come on, let's get out of here." Lily offered her side for him to lean on. When he made no move to comply, she growled slightly in frustration. "Move it!" She snapped, causing Ty to quickly do as she asked.

Together the two quickly made their way to the ships main deck. Lily glanced around. There was commotion everywhere. The ship had docked at port and the sight of pokemon getting loose from their hold below deck had apparently made the humans on edge. Either that or they were in a hurry to reach their destination. Lily and Ty disappeared into the crowd just at the two Rockets appeared. The two Team Rocket members glanced around, but the only sight that met their eyes was two Pidgeys disappearing into the sunset.

"We're gonna get it when we get back to headquarters right?" The first rocket asked the second.

"Probably, let's play hooky for a while and hit the beach. I wanna get a snowcone."

No one paid much attention to two pokemon as they ran through the city. The street lights came on suddenly and nightlife in Olivine City began. Lily and Ty took shelter in a nearby alley as a light drizzle of rain began.

Ty looked over his bandaged shoulder once Lily had finished applying a few strips of cloth she'd found in the alley. His shoulder barely hurt now, but there was something he needed to know first before they parted ways. "Lily?"

Lily glanced up from a tin can she'd been poking around to find Ty looking at her with a serious expression. His eyes seemed so full of emotion, yet so unable to express himself thoroughly. "Yes? What is it, Ty? Is something the matter?"

Ty cleared his throat deeply thinking how best to begin. "Why did you come back for me back on the ship?" He finally decided the best way to do this was to be blunt. "I told you to run. You could have been captured again."

"Well..."

"There's the intruders, boss. I told you a couple of pokemon were moving in on our turf." A low growl was heard from further down the alley, and before either Lily or Ty knew it, they found themselves surrounded by a pack of wild Poochyenna.

"Well well, lookie what we've got here. A couple of babies crying for their mommies." The biggest of the Poochyenna snarled, then laughed heartily at his own joke. The others quietly joined in with their leader. Not only was he big, he also boasted a confidence that only one who won many battles could hold. Not to mention the deep scar over one eye.

Ty placed himself in front of lily, a low growl rumbling low in his throat. "You'll never get to Lily."

"The Meowth is called Lily huh? A name only a human could have chosen. The lot of them makes me sick. My name is Scar. Remember it well in the afterlife." Scar sneered as he signaled his pack to move in on the two younger pokemon.

"Stay behind me, Lils. I won't let them hurt you." Ty shifted his stance slightly to one more suited for battle. "Ice Beam!" He took aim at the leader and fired. Unfortunately all that came of this was a small puff of cold air.

Scar stared at Ty for a few seconds before he and his pack broke out in a fit of laughter. "And here I actually thought I might get a small workout. You’re not even worth a small growl attack."

"Ty…" Lily whispered. She knew he was still tired from their earlier escape. She quickly unsheathed her claws and prepared to defend herself and Ty.

"Do you really need an entire pack just to deal with two pups?" A voice asked from above. A large shadow appeared over them. "Are you losing your touch,Scar?"

"You!" Scar growled, quickly turning his attention upwards to the top of the fire escape. Lily and Ty looked as well and could just make out a small yellow and orange form standing poised in the moonlight. "Stay out of this Jenny, I'm warning you." Scar snarled.

The yellow and orange pokemon leapt springboarding from wall to wall ‘til she stood before Scar. "Or you'll what? If I remember correctly weren't you the one who ran off with his tail between his legs after our last encounter?"

"She's a Growlithe." Lily whispered in awe. "But Growlithes aren't normally that color are they?" she turned to Ty who seemed just as impressed.

Where a normal Growlithe was orange with black stripes Jenny was Pikachu yellow with orange stripes. There were also quite a few scars littered over her body. Most of them seemed to have happened long ago. Ty gulped at the look Jenny directed at Scar. He was pretty sure if she looked at him that way he'd probably run the other way.

Jenny growled in anticipation for the coming battle as Scar slowly circled her. "Why don't you go back to that police squadron you were so fond of? Oh that's right, I forgot." Scar smirked at Jenny's sudden, but brief look of pain. "You couldn't cut it anymore. Cracked up when that Dragonite took out your mate right? I say he had it coming, him and those other pathetic whimps."

Jenny’s look of pain quickly transformed into a drawn out sigh. "Scar, you really are an idiot. I was going to let you off easy." Jenny’s calm look quickly turned into a series of short growls.

In a swift blur of motion Jenny completely trashed Scar and sent him and his pack yelping in pain off into the night. She fought like a crazed demon, and only halted her attack once her enemy was thoroughly beaten.

The whole thing was over before it had even begun.

"You pups ok?" Jenny turned her head to look over the two she rescued. An Eevee and a Meowth. Odd, she was sure Eevee and Meowth didn't normally travel in packs. "Follow me. I've got a safe place you can stay the night. A dark alley at night is no where you want to be. Trust me." She smiled warmly at them and motioned with her head.

Lily looked at Ty. "Should we?"

"Might as well, I don't think she plans on hurting us." Ty shrugged. "And she does have a point. We don't want to spend the night out here." With that thought in mind the two quickly followed Jenny to her home, an old abandoned loft.

Not bad, the chapters are a little on the short side. But I like the idea so far, and I was not able to see too many mistakes.

Other than this one that is.
Either that or they were in a hurry to reach their and Ty disappeared into the crowd just at the two Rockets appeared
I'm not really sure how this is supposed to go, but I am pretty sure that it is not supposed to be like that.

Don't rush your self when posting new chapters, wait a couple of days or so. That way you can focus more on quality rather than quantity.
I really need a new signature.

Thanks for pointing that out. I wasn't really in a hurry to type it, so much as in a hurry to post it. The chapters were written out a while back. I'll try to pay more attention to what I'm doing. :)

Later that night, once Lily and Ty were settled into the place Jenny had prepared for them, Lily awoke from a fitful slumber. She glanced over at her sleeping companion and wondered idly how he could have possibly slept through all her tossing and turning.

The small place they slept was an old mattress someone had abandoned when they moved, Jenny had since added a few old blankets and scraps of cloth wherever she could find them. Jenny's room was the obvious exception of the otherwise messy loft. Her room actually had a skylight allowing it's viewer to gaze up at the night sky.

Being careful not to awaken her sleeping companion Lily padded through the small kitchen area and onto a small balcony. A crescent moon shone high in the sky, and Lily gazed over the small ocean city, lost in her own thoughts.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Jenny asked, appearing almost out of no where. She laughed lightly to herself as she caught the small Meowth's shocked expression.

"It's just... I've seen more in the past twentyfour hours then I've ever seen before I was taken from my home. I had no idea the world was so big." Lily sighed, and Jenny giggled. "What is it?" Lily asked as she glanced over to Jenny, wondering what the older pokemon found so amusing.

Jenny propped her front paws up on the railing and looked down upon the nightlife of Olivine, humans scurried below, some with pokemon and some without. A light breeze stirred up and lightly ruffled through Jenny's fur. "You're young, so you don't understand yet. The world is much more than just big. It's mysterious, scary at times, joyful, and even heartbreaking."

Lily glanced up at Jenny, wondering what could have suddenly caused her to look so sad. Lily stood on her hind legs and propped her paws on the railing next to Jenny's. Together they stared in silence up towards the heavens.

Finally after what seemed like hours Jenny heaved a great sigh and looked towards Lily. The small kitten reminded her so much of herself at that young age. It was then she decided to entrust her with a small bit of herself.

"Lily?" Jenny began slowly. "I'd like to tell you a small story."

"Like a bedtime story or something?" Lily asked cocking her head to the side curiously. "Mom used to tell me and my sisters stories back when we were real little."

"Something like that I suppose." She smiled down at the kitten, before motioning with her head for her to get comfortable. Lily took a seat close to Jenny who made herself comfortable as well.

"I was like you when I was younger. Happy and full of hope for the future. I was sure what I wanted to do with my life from the moment I was accepted into the Police Academy. I wanted to be placed on the canine unit, and meeting him only strengthened my resolve. Both of us were placed in the same unit and served for many years. I couldn't have been happier. But all story's must have an ending I suppose." Jenny's eyes took on a faraway look as she began to recall events that were bestforgotten.

( Jenny's Flashback )

We were chasing a rogue Dragonite. It had just stolen some trainer’s items. Of course the trainer reported it to the police and our squadron was on our way to the scene. My husband was the chief in our group and he yelled orders to us

"Half the squadron take the left, the other half take the right!" He ordered. "First Officer Jenny, come with me! We’ll head him off." I was first officer then, next in line for chief. "All right team, separate!" He called. The squadron divided, leaving only me and my husband.

"Come Jenny, we can beat him." With that he went off towards the Dragonite. We sniffed the air, searching for his scent. He found it first. "This way! Let’s go!" He sprinted towards an alleyway.

The Dragonite was awaiting us inside. I skidded to a stop in front of the alley, though my husband continued towards the gigantic Pokemon.

"Give up now and save yourself a beating." He thundered at the huge flying type.

"Ha! Me? Give up to you? I don’t think so." The Dragonite laughed darkly. "You should give up to me." He sucked in a huge breath and closed his mouth tightly. My mate stared at him in confusion.

"What are you" The Dragonite shot a golden beam out of its mouth before he could finish his sentence. The beam hit him dead on. He collapsed on the ground.

Finally, I ran into the fight, but the Dragonite beat me to it. The thief picked up my mate and literally squished him in his paws. Blood oozed out of them, I could hardly stand to watch. I turned and ran, as far away as I could.

I couldn’t stand to see that again.

I never went back to the police force and I started my own life out here, protecting little ones like you guys and teaching them if necessary.

(End Flashback )

Jenny glanced down at Lily who was snuggled up to her side sound asleep. "Sleep well little one. Tomorrow we'll figure out what to do with you and Ty." She smiled softly and picked Lily up by the scruff of her neck, and carried her back to bed.
