For some reason, I cant help but plan my team in advance whenever I decide to play a Pokemon game. Do any of you guys do it?

The team in my sig was picked out like a month or two ago, and its for Platinum which is not even out yet. So does anyone else do things like this? Post how you pick your teams! Whether it be in advance or at random! :D

Yeah, I tend to do this to. And now that I took that step into competitive battling at least a few months ago, I always dedicate myself to at least get good natures for what I'm going to use it for on a team.

Actions I make in the games are usually based on the anime by force of habit. That includes NOT planning my teams. I usually go with the flow and capture pokemon that look good with my other pokemon (color, design), and pokemon that can be useful against my next challenge. Power isn't something that really comes into play, but one thing I do always plan to have on each team I make is a powerhouse.

I took Karen's advice all those years ago and try to win with my favorites. My current team may not be the best in looks, power, or effectiveness, but there's something about them that I like.

I used to choose pokemon based on levels and raw power, but they were no fun to use. Useful they may have been, but they weren't my favorites, and I didn't really 'connect' with them.

A mix. When I start a new game, I usually know a few of Pokémon I want to catch; I went into my latest Emerald game thinking I wanted a Gardevoir and a Ground-type, so I caught a Ralts and eventually a Numel. But then towards the beginning of the game I thought "All these Poochyena are starting to get as annoying as Rattata; maybe I'll catch one and make it useful," so I've got a Mightyena on my team. That's about as complicated as my planning gets, though.

This one is my hack.

This one is the hack I part-time map for.

I got an Illumise?
Pretty awesome.
Glad I grabbed an egg I didn't recognize.

I usually end up with one or two pokemon on my team while I'm fighting the gym leaders, and then I build up from there. When the new pokemon dont work out so well I replace them, which is why I have like 3 fully trained teams. :O I try to go for a mix of pokemon I like and pokemon that mesh well with the other five.

I don't really plan out teams unless I'm going to do a monotype or something. I usually just go into a game thinking about trying out a Pokemon or two that I've never used before. (Like the time I started a new Emerald file just because I wanted to play around with Dustox.)

Other than that, I just play with my favorites, or whatever sounds/looks like fun at the time.

I usually catch everything I see and train each one a little bit. Whichever one's the most fun to battle with, that'll go on my team. I also try to get a little bit of balance on my team, and always have one of each of the four main "elements" of the game, ie. Fire, Water, Grass and Electric.
Yes, I plan my team out carefully~
IVs I may want, move sets, natures, where to distribute EV points, and what they should hold according to stats, ect.

^__^
I love to have competitive battles so I always plot and plan before even having any Pokemon.
The team that is in my trainer card [to see it, click my banner in my sig X3], that's my team for Platinum.
I have that team already in Pearl, but it'll be transferred to Platinum.
Of course the Skymin is just land form at the moment, but as soon as Platinum is out, I'll make it Skymin instantly~

Though I plan carefully, I only use Pokemon I love.

I pick them in advance, play them for a bit then find a problem and completely change it the next day. Or i plan it out then go to play the game with the team from the start but then i realize half of my team i cant get until i at least have the 5th badge so i always end up scrapping it.

I'm not really the planning type, so both my in-game teams and WiFi teams are pretty much spur-of-the-moment. For example, I randomly decided to grab a Gible in my Japanese version of Platinum because I was close to where they could be caught. XD The only absolute is that there will usually always be an Eeveeluton in my team; at the very least, in my WiFi team.

My team is planned...then revised...then revised...again and again. It got to the point where every (reasonably good) Pokemon was EV training, IV bred and good-natured. That's when my friends gave me a brochure to a "addicted-to-Pokemon" community. So basically, my team is all planned out in my head the second I start a new file.

Well, I almost always come up with a team beforehand, even without meaning to sometimes. Usually I wind up changing it a million times before I'm satisfied. However, for platinum, I only have half my team planned out. I just dunno what I want to do for the rest of it. =/

Depends for me. If i'm wanting a quick game to kill some time i'll just pick up Pokémon and add them to my party as I go along.

If i'm wanting to play through properly i'll plan out a rough team for myself (Always different types - I NEVER have more than one type in my party, not including duals), and i'll stick with that team and train them all pretty evenly.

There's only been a few occassions where i've caught every Pokémon in an area, trained them up and then picked my team from those. I find it too tedious and I end up losing interest in the game so for me it's best to pick a team, train them up and stick with those Pokémon until the game is out of the way THEN start catching & training others.
