Up to 10 years would not be odd. If it was over that, I would just be creeped out. An 18 year old going out with a 30 year old. I think not. o.O
Erm. COUGH COUGH. Watch that mouth, those where pretty much my parents. :|

So yeah, I don't reallly think any age gap is weird. It may be because my dad is 15 years older than my mom.

But hey, love is love. If the government threatens, Move to Kenya! :D

Age gaps seem worse the younger you are..

Right now I wouldn't wanna date anyone who was more than 4 years younger than me, and 4 is pushing it. >_>; 5 years younger would probably never happen, and anything more than that.. ew, heck no.

But when you're older, say.. 35, and the other person is maybe 28 or older, that's fairly common. It doesn't seem as bad, for some reason. As far as dating someone a certain amount of years older than you.. eh. Typically, more than 4 years would sorta bother me, for right now.

Drew said it perfect for both of us. more than 4 years younger and it gets to feeling a little wierd, but when you get older the difference doesn't matter all that much. also depending on the quality of the bond that the 2 people share, the ages could be anything.

It totally depends.

Say it was me..Now I'm fourteen.

Say their was an age gap of 5 years.

If it was 5 years younger I would be a sick bastard who deserves to die.

If it was 5 years older...C'est magnifique.

See?

But if I was 25 or around that area..a difference of 5 years either way wouldn't be bad in my mind...

So I'm not sure.

Uhm, probably about 1 year, at my age. I mean, as you get older age makes less of a difference, but most people around my age would consider a 3 year gap somewhat odd, to say the least.

While I agree that five years younger at your age would be a little odd, try to be considerate of other peoples situations;
Wishing a person dead when you know nothing about the two people involved -and have nothing to do with it- is not cool.

At the moment I'm interested in a girl three years younger than me, and I think it's fine.
Although I don't think it would be if it were any other girl in her year; They'd be too immature.

I don't think anyone should be critised for their relationship choices, but I think any more than five is a bit weird.
I would date a girl younger than me, but only by a couple of years, dating a girl older than me would make me feel a little strange... unless it was only by a couple of months.

I knew a married couple who had an age gap of ten years, that was a pretty big shock to me.

There is a substantial age difference between my husband and I, and my family kicked up such a stink when we got together. My thought on it is that we love one another, we have a really good time, he looks younger than he actually is, and he still behaves like a teenager. I don't judge people who have age gaps in their relationships; the only time that I tut is when you see an itty bitty 18 year old on the arm of a 89 year old crippled yet wealthy man.

well, i find it weird, as the first poster said, that the age gaps dont really matter as you get older. for example, 12 and 16 are an age gap of four, but i really can't imagine a 12 and a 16 year old going out. Then, on the other hand, my parents are 41 and 45, that's a four year difference, and there isn't really a problem. Life is weird

But I know about myself...I said if it was me in that situation..

But yeah I know how you mean..But i still think that a 14 year old going out with a 9 year old is sick...

But as I said..as you get older, the age gaps matter less and less.

Well when I think about it, I look at "More than five" then say:
For example: Im in Year 11, and my Girl friend is like say in Year 6.
To me, that sounds sick. However I dont mine one or two, because thats not
much of a difference.

Wow.

I'd draw the line at anything in which someone is 6 years older than their partner. 5 years is plenty! D=

But, hell, my Grandmom dated a man that was 10 years older than her, but it really wasn't. . Odd, I guess I should say. She was 35 and he was 45, so it was too awkward. And it's the same for my Aunt and Uncle; they, too, are 10 years apart and married.

My parents have a 15 year age gap just like ΩGodotΩ and they've been happily married since my mum was 18 =<

I've also had a crush on a colleague 10 years older than me.

Erebus is three and a half years younger than me (and uh, for the most part, more mature than me xDD), but it's working out perfectly <3

I don't think that there should be much of an age gap. Like, I hear of a couple where one [the eldest] dies and he's like 60, but his wife is like 39, and I'm like, "Ok, weird. That could be her dad!?"
And when I think of a six year age gap, I imagine a sixth grader going out with a Kindergardener, which really puts it into perspective.

You know, I really want to post here being that person who says "love knows no age," but...

To be perfectly honest, hearing about some of these relationships where one person is 10+ years older than the other is almost kind of sickening to me. I mean, I'm sure in some cases like this the couple actually is in love with each other, but I can't help but to feel that in others, one person was taken advantage of x_x

I personally would never date someone with an age gap difference of more than 3 years from me. I don't know, and older/younger than that would just feel weird to me.

There was a difference of 7 years between my parents, so it's something that I never really got too bothered by, at least with older people. I generally believe that the younger a person is, the smaller the age gap should be in relationships. I'm not sure where I would draw the line in my own relationships, but it's not exactly an issue I have to worry about anymore, so I've never given it too much thought when involving myself.

My favorite fictional pairing sort of revolves around a large age difference, so I think about this particular topic somewhat often.

I believe it really depends on the person. The younger years of an individual is really a fragile time to be thinking about a relationship. Physical differences are really a big part of it too, disparity in years is a bigger issue due to the broad and fast changes that occur within younger people compared to older people. At my age, I consider 2 to 3 years either way as an okay potential girlfriend.

But it really depends on the maturity level, I think the year differences between people can broaden depending on how intelligent and mature the potential partner is.

In all, I think love knows (almost) no bounds.

Well I don't see a problem in a reltionship if the parter is at most between 3-5 years older or younger. But that's only after a certain age, like early 20's and generally girls that are around 16 and upwards tend to lead toward older guys for their 'maturity' too. But aslong as the person I go out with is 17-25. I'm okay with that, and she is. So I'm good. And if you like one another, it's fine, emotions can grow over time too. Depends on the two people trying.

So to me, a 21-22 yo going out with say, a 17 yo is perfectly fine.

But say a 16 yo going out with a 13-14 yo isn't right in my opinion.
