Well, as the title says... Wouldn't you like to be surprised when your eggs are hatching?
I mean, we always see that the egg will hatch in the same Pokemon that the mother is. Wouldn't be great if this wasn't like that? If we have an egg, and we don't know what Pokemon will be, if the same as the father or the same as the mother?
It would more realistic, more fun and would make breeding a bit harder (don't throw me things for want the game more difficoult :P)

Besides, there are Pokemon who only exists in male (Volbeat and Tauros, for example) And this means we won't be able NEVER NEVER to have a Volbeat's Egg, with egg moves.

Um, this doesn't belong here, and as far as I know, you can breed tauros and blissey and the rest with DITTOS. Also that wouldn't make it more realistic and would increase the difficulty of getting perfect IVs drastically. Bad idea.

Apart from the fact that males can breed with a ditto and rely on the father for egg moves, I'm not sure I like the idea. It helps with breeding a 'perfect' pokémon, and anyway, when two people have children, generally they have a baby human rather than a dog - same in the animal world. So really I'm a little lost at how this could be 'fun'...

You can breed those males with Ditto just like you can breed their female counterparts with Ditto. Ditto's a bit of a strumpet like that.

As for the suggestion, personally, I'm not for it. Breeding seems to have been put there for the gamer's benefit. It makes the process of generating Pokémon for competitive battling a bit easier. For example, you can control what nature the offspring is by giving the mother an Everstone. You can pass along TMs/HMs by giving them to a parent and breeding like crazy. You can do chain breeding to get a set of egg moves onto a certain Pokémon. All of this, as well as the ability to control the species, seem to exist for the gamer to take advantage of. To remove the ability to control one of these aspects -- one of the most basic and the most important parts of the process, no less -- makes it all the more difficult for the player. At that point, the system loses its usefulness, and the player might as well just go out in the wild and catch the Pokémon they're after because it's quicker and easier than a system that's pretty much just as random when it comes to results.

Actually the games do give you an egg that they don't tell you what it's going to hatch into.
I mean, you can find out what it is going to hatch into through internet or if you've played the game before but it is kind of a surprise.

I didn't know about that Ditto thing.. In fact, I don't know much about Ditto :( :(
But although I understand that it's a easy way to create a 'perfect Pokemon' I'd like to have that option.
Sorry to disagree, but still seems more realistic to me. If a man and a woman have a baby, it doesn't always is a female...
Anyway, I don't like the idea of 'making the perfect Pokemon' either. That's why I probably came up eith this idea. It seems a bit manipulating to me, I don't know...

Anyway, I breed little. I'm more interested in contests XD

Well, the hatchling in Pokémon isn't going to be the same gender either. It's going to just be the same species as the parent, pretty much like in real life (as in, breeding two humans doesn't result in a monkey) unless we're talking about hybrids like mules or ligers (which, although kinda cool, would make the game even more complicated than its cartridge/card/design team could possibly handle, what with having to add in thousands of possible combinations on top of "pure bred" Pokémon).

Not to mention keep in mind that not much about Pokémon's particularly realistic to begin with. Remember, this is a game in which it's perfectly possible to have a Golem use Dig while battling over an ocean. (Hate to say it as if this is all serious business, but still.)

OMG I never thought that!!
I'm laughing at the moment!! :D
Well, you made me accepted guys, but still would be nice to see eggs of different colours and designs, based on the egg-group. That would DO be more realistic..

If Nidoking and Nidoqueen breed it is either male or female. Same case for volbeat, it can hatch from vol and ill breeding same with tauros and miltank it is only the female if you breed like a bagon and treecko but closely releted pokemon it is random.
