Do you believe in Vampires?

Not like dracula style ones, but ones which are all around us, who act like us, dress like us, but have a taste for blood :P

I believe i am a half-vampire, because i like the taste of blood, but don't need it to live, amongst other things.

What are your thoughts on this?

(You probably think i'm a freak now ):D

Not like dracula style ones,
Why is this in Other Entertainment then?

I believe i am a half-vampire, because i like the taste of blood, but don't need it to live, amongst other things.
Well one definition of vampire is a person who drinks blood as part of their diet. It's highly nutritious and most people I know (including me) like the taste, so I'm not sure why it's not a normal thing... I guess it's the strange connotations it has; but if it were the norm, obviously it should be served warm. :3

There's an African tribe somewhere whose populace periodically bleed their cattle and drink it.

I honestly don't see what in "Other Entertainment" says "Come talk about your beliefs in vampires here."

Though this thread is already disturbing, it belongs in Other Voting Polls (unless it promotes more than just your belief being stated, which I don't see happening for the most part). Since that's where it belongs, that's where you will be able to find it.

..Ah. I've encountered quite a few people who believe they're vampires, and for the most part, no, I don't believe there's anything special about them, other than maybe needing a little something to control their bloodlust. Shock therapy perhaps.
Unless you have a medical problem, you shouldn't be taking any blood- not to mention the fact that STDs and all sorts of other problems can be transferred this way. The majority of the people who claim to be vampires are either attention seeking, or just plain nuts. We all want to be speshul, but drinking blood isn't the right way to go about that. I've encountered way too many people who just want to be popular by labelling themselves as something magical to even contemplate things like the concept of vampires being real. :/

Do you believe in Vampires?
I like the salty taste of blood. Does that mean I'm a vampire?

No, it doesn't. Vampires don't exist. The only thing near vampires that's met reality is tuberculosis, which is a disease. This extract is pretty interesting:

Before the Industrial Revolution, tuberculosis may sometimes have been regarded as vampirism. When one member of a family died from it, the other members that were infected would lose their health slowly. People believed that this was caused by the original victim draining the life from the other family members. Furthermore, people who had TB exhibited symptoms similar to what people considered to be vampire traits. People with TB often have symptoms such as red, swollen eyes (which also creates a sensitivity to bright light), pale skin, extremely low body heat, a weak heart and coughing blood, suggesting the idea that the only way for the afflicted to replenish this loss of blood was by sucking blood.
I've also read interesting books on the matter, which have told me that tuberculosis is the reason vampires exist in common mythology. A valid theory, if I say so myself.
'It's been a prevalent notion. Fallen sparks. Fragments of vessels broken at the Creation. And someday, somehow, before the end, a gathering back to home. A messenger from the Kingdom, arriving at the last moment. But I tell you there is no such message, no such home -- only the millions of last moments . . . nothing more. Our history is an aggregate of last moments.'

Vampires are just the product of stories, anyone who actually believes they are a vampire has a mental disorder.

It's not the blood you find tasty, but the salt and protein in the blood, which can be found in anything from steak to beans. :|

I think most people like the taste of blood, because i do to! Lol. No, i don't believe in Vampires, but it depends what you define as, "Vampire". If you're thinking of someone who sleeps in a coffin, hates Garlic and can't go outside without using 5 bottles of sun - tan lotion, then i think we can all agree that that definition is ludicrous. If you mean someone who likes blood, then, yes, they might be classified as that, but still no, i don't think they can, because a Vampire was only meant to be a fictional "monster". Or am i wrong? I'm not sure, really.

I have now confused myself :O.

But the answer's no! :D.

Well, I'm sure there are some sick people out there who enjoy the taste of blood. And maybe if a taste for blood were mixed with photophobia they might very well be a vampire.

Vampires? Please. They're naught but plot devices for fictional stories and all sorts of mumbo jumbo you see on TV. I'm not fond of their concept, so I can't say I particularly believe in them either.

Lol...I'm gonna have to go with no on this one. Actually, ingesting too much blood is supposed to be nauseating and will cause you to vomit. I suppose vampires have built up a resistance to this reflex over many many years though ;D

When I get a cut, I'll just suck up the blood so I don't have to get a tissue or something. I'm pretty sure everyone does it. But it doesn't mean you're a vampire, even if you like the taste.

So your a half-vampire? I believe you should check yourself with the psychiatrist.

Anyways, vampires are nothing more than characters in movies, so just keep dreaming your a 'half-vampire'.

I only believe in natures vampires such as bats and mosquitoes. Otherwise they're non-existant to me.

What the waffles? Vampires?

No no no. Vampires are just folklore. And if they ain't, I'll make sure they are folklore before Arnold Scwattzy does

Don't blame me for it, but people that think they are Vampires need a Doctor Psychiatrist.

You would die if your diet only consisted of drinking blood.

Besides, the only reason why you like the taste of blood is because it's embedded into the human mind -- We're programmed to feed on meat (which is widely flavorless without the blood in it) and if it tastes better to us, we're more likely to eat it, rather than fecal matter. Incidentally, if you licked a piece of iron, it would have the same taste of blood because blood oxidizes iron to carry vital oxygen around the body. If you're really that fond of the taste of blood, go lick some iron instead.

I would think reptilian blood tastes like copper... But the mind boggles.

Lol, what? o_O; Liking the taste of blood has nothing to do with being a vampire, seriously. That's ridiculous.

I don't believe in vampires just like I don't believe in magic and whatnot. It makes no sense to me and there's very little basis in logic so... fiction it stays! Anything else is purely wishful thinking, in my opinion.

I've seen some people lick their blood when they bleed and that's about it. I don't know anyone who drinks blood like it's a casual thing though. I've tried tasting my own blood like that but it just grosses me out.

But what about that story in australia, about a couple of lesbians who killed a girl, drank her blood and then kissed over her and hid her body in a dustbin. Either they're pretty screwed up, or it could be a relation to the occult. Just because you've never seen it, doesn't mean its not there.

So, these girls were vampires therefore what they did was completely justified? It's okay, they just needed to drink her blood to live. There are plenty more girls in Australia to harvest.

No no no. That's wrong on so many levels, I don't know where to begin. Murder is murder, and if someone is screwed up enough to kill someone just to drink their blood, then they need a lot of medication and a padded cell.
I restate my previous opinion- there's no such thing as vampires, and anyone who claims they are one needs help, or a girlfriend. You do not feed on blood, energy, emotions, or whatever kind of wacky vampires there are out there. You feed on food like normal people, damnit, or no dessert for you. D:<

What are you talking about? It's obvious those people are messed up in the head. They may have preformed an odd ritual after killing her, but that doesn't mean they are vampires. A lot of serial killers and people messed up in the head have done crazy things involving people's bodies. Does that mean they're vampires? No. Let's try not to brush away a tragedy and say that they must have been vampires so it's okay. Not only are you making a complete mockery of the poor girl's death, you're also implying that anyone who kills and drinks blood could be innocent because they could be vampires, without any scientific proof whatsoever to back you up. It's possibe that they suffered from tuberculosis, which I explained already in my last post, but are they vampires? No, that's not possible. Vampires are nothing more than a myth.
