My religion bans this and says that these are just some of the signs leading up to the Day of Judgment. But I really can't do much about it though. It's a person's choice to be straight, gay, bisexual or transgender, even though I may discourage these activities.

It seems there is a reason for homosexuality to be banned from many religions. Our Prophet (I'm a Muslim, so I'm referring to Muhammad) predicted several signs leading to the end of the world. He mentioned the fact that the number of gay people would increase and men would begin to imitate women and vice versa. Then Allah (The God of Muslims) would send down a disease that the people have never seen before. AIDS, anyone?

Just adding to what Went said, you can't just make the choice one day and say "Hey I want to be gay!". Homosexuality isn't some special form of sexuality. It's merely an attraction to the opposite sex, behavior that is perfectly natural in the natural world. We are basically animals just like everything else on earth.

I think everyone else needs to stop pushing religion out of the argument. It has everything to do with it.
No, it doesn't. That would imply that your religion applies to everyone, which is false. What you believe is not what I have to believe, and when it comes to religion, no one can claim that they're beliefs are the absolute truth (no matter how much we argue, no one is ever going to win. Not everyone has faith, and you should respect that). Therefore, you can't bring religion into the argument.

ZOMG! Here we go again. >.>

How many LGBT threads have been there?
Proposition 8 (California)
What do you think of gay marrage
Girl bullied on XBL, M$ ban victim.
etc...

Seriously, I fully support Gay Rights even though I admit that I find it "weird." LOL, I still laugh at crack yohwee ships XD

No need to start infringing on ones rights due to personal beliefs. Just leave them alone and stop the witch hunts. It just makes the Right-wingers look all the more bad.

I have to agree with Aura that putting religious beliefs into the issue of Homosexuality is a self defeating purpose...

If it was a choice, why would anyone want to be discriminated against? If you tried right now, I doubt you'd be able to become gay or bi, to be honest.

I'm a Catholic, but I hate being one. They're anti-gay, and I think that's horrible. They have no proof that God thinks it's wrong, so if they're trying to be like Jesus, discrimination is not the way to go.

They do have proof, actually. The towns of Sodom and Gomorrah were flipped upside down because 90% of their people were homosexual. And when Allah sent three angels down to help those people to change, they tried to seduce them. I think that was a bit too far.

Well, that's more something that would be in the Qur'an. There's no concrete evidence that a town got turned upside down, is there? And I'm almost sure you can't really change sexuality, so angels turning people straight seems a bit strange to me. ^^;

But if thats what you believe, I won't try to change that.

Note: If you're only reason for being against homosexuality is because you're blindly following something a book from thousands of years ago says, find a new reason. This debate needs to be more than "God" vs. "Nonbelievers". Not everyone agrees with your religion.

Ahem...Lord Gaga, what is this proof you have claimed?

I believe homosexuality and sexual deviation in general to be an intense form of self-delusion. It involves a long and subtle cycle of brainwashing that causes a person's sexual perception to stray, typically started by an encounter with whatever form of abnormal sexuality they eventually practice. So basically it's like an addiction.

some of the best footballers are gay and some of the best singers are gay

just because they love the same gender doesnt mean the should be discriminated

^It's posts like that that I love. Mostly because I have never heard that before. <3

Could you expand that please?
I'll try as best I can. Basically, a person that has a sexual encounter early on with an abnormal form of sexuality will have that type of deviation inextricably correlated with sex in their mind. If they feed that correlation by acting on it or pursuing it in general, they will strengthen the delusion and may ultimately adopt that kind of behavior for themselves, thinking it to be normal.

What kind of abnormal sexual encounter?

Because I can tell you, I have seen nothing myself.
It can be pretty much anything that makes a person think of an abnormal source for sexual stimulation. Pornography, an explicit conversation, and obviously things like rape, etc.

Yes, and if nothing like that happens to the person?

I've had the most average life you could ever think of. Hell, until I figured out for myself that I am bi, I hadn't even seen anything even vaguely homosexual. And does that apply to transexualism as well?

It's funny because the ad at the top of teh page is for a gay and lesbian holidat resort

I personally think that if people want to live with other people of the same sex thats fine they can do what they liek...as long as it doesnt affect me.

I mena i dont mind being with gay people but i dont want to look an outcast beacuse im NOT gay

And transexualism: so what if peple lik to dress up in differant clothes?

its like me im an amateur furry (going to the conventions and stuff... nothing like a costume) soi thinkn its just all a bit iof fun

In my opinion, it's not wrong per se, it's just I absolutely hate it when people are so flamboyantly open about it. I mean, I don't go around flaunting my heterosexuality all over the place.

It's just pretty embarrassing seeing someone acting so flamboyantly. If you've got gender confusion, just dress like it but don't be all like "HAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY" about it.
I find that to be a double standard. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've heard straight guys saying crap like "Damn she's hot, I'd like to _____" or how many times I see straight couples making or on the odd and rare occassion when they had sex on the bleachers right next to where I was eating lunch, yet I am not allowed to express my sexuality because it makes you uncomfortable. >.>
here comes Christian, conservative, intolerant, bigoted me to piss everyone off...

I believe that being gay or bisexual or whatever is a choice. It's not a natural thing. Because of that, I believe that it's the wrong choice. I would love to make my argument without bringing in my faith, but that's somewhat impossible, because that's my only argument. God created a man and a woman for each other, and that's how it's supposed to be. Bottom line.
You're wrong, that is the bottom line my friend. I never chose anything, God made me this way. The basic teaching of Jesus is love, so stop the hate. I know in my heart that God loves me and anyone else regardless of color, creed, or orientation. Only true follower of Christ love and accept everyone.

Also, on the note of religion, I've always kind of thought Jesus was homosexual.

Sexual stimulation is a strong source of reinforcement. It's not hard to imagine that people could turn to unnatural sources in order to achieve it, either due to sexual suppression, a lack of self-control, or a combination of the two. As I said before, it's similar to an addiction.

Also, the cause in my previous example doesn't have to be extreme at all. It just has to get the person thinking of an abnormal source of sexual gratification.

Also, on the note of religion, I've always kind of thought Jesus was homosexual.
Jesus was not sexual in general, seeing as he didn't get married.

Of course you choose it! If I just broke down right this second and made out with a guy after I've lived a life with no signs whatsoever of homosexuality, would you still say that it was biological? People who say that it's not a choice are just the people who don't want to take responsibility for making that decision.

Well then it would be one of two things:
A. You want to experiment with your sexuality.
B. Latent Homosexuality.

Honestly, it's not a choice. If you can be born heterosexual, why can't you be born homosexual? Also if God exists, he makes all humans. That would mean he made someone gay for a reason.

My being gay is an addiction? Never heard that before [sarcasm/]
Your orientation is determined by chromosomes. It's just as natural as the color of your eyes or hair.

I still think he was. That's just what I've always thought. I don't really care to elaborate mroe on it seeing as how Jesus is a touchy subject for some.

D:

Yes there have been many threads on the issue. It boils down to two types of people: those who disagree with it based on their religion, and those who think people should be treated equally.

I understand why people disagree with homosexuality based on religion, although I don't respect that opinion at all. People have justified many discriminatory opinions with their belief in God throughout history. I know that some people may find that offensive, but that is a fact. And don't try to pull out passages from the Bible that endorse this discrimination, because I'll just throw some more back at you that tell you how to treat your slaves/stone your children/beat your wives.

Homosexuality does not hurt anyone. Leave them be, and let them marry in peace. Opinions will change, eventually, and the human race will move forward.

I hate how people use the bible to mask their own prejudices. Honestly, if you don;t like gays or bis just say it. It makes things worse when you try to justify hate or disagreement using a book. Not to mention the fact that its one of the most, if not the most, misinterpreted books on the planet. Let the Cold war paranoia be put to rest people! *referencing the lavender scare*
