What should PC do to get back to its highest point?

Okay, I have been thinking about this lately and it seems to me as PC isn't the same as I knew it to be just a few months ago.

So my question to you is, do you think PokeCommunity has lost all of its great spunk and interest? Has activity slown down quite a bit? Are we starting to lose on going and interesting topics at each section?

What has happened, that's what I want to know...

Well if i was posting in more areas that i used to(in other i used to post a lot in the hacking section but god i think it got too noobed up and spammy) and the game section(well i do but hell only here and there) i would have a lot more posts then i did and well i also stopped a lot of things cause well i got lazy looking up one section and then the other (im talking bout the club split up i still cant get used to it) and yeah lack of interest now. And laziness.

No way, PC has been a lot more active than this, and there were a lot of better topics before, but now ppl have gotten so bored, we get reproduced topics that are the same, and some that don't even LAST that long...I would like for the admins to get rid of every post made, EVERYTHING and just let PC start fresh...I think that way we can get back new topics and such...things that will last longer and bring up the activity...wouldn't you?

besides school, and business, there are a lot of ppl who come on everyday, but the thing is, okay I like to post a lot in the anime section, BUT ppl have been making boring new posts and such that I don't even bother posting to, because there is nothing else to talk about...there have been times recently when I thought about leaving PC because of this slow activity and it getting a little boring...so that is why I was thinking PC makes a change and starts off fresh...hmmm

PC is ever-growing, ever-expanding and ever-changing. There is no end to just how popular it shall become. People have come and gone and while you may find different regulars around the forums and different staff members in place to take care of sections, the community itself remains stable and the same.

People take for granted how close-knit we actually are, everybody on this forum has found their place in a particular group of people and grow to feel utmost comfortable about where they are, so anything hinting towards that group being broken or standards they feel they've been accustomed to collapsing would make them think PC has changed in every way possible. And for as long as you stay here on the forums, you're bound to see the odd person that may complain pensively about how things have changed and express their ever daunting nostalgia for the way things used to be in the past But that is simply because PC is, as I've said, always expanding. With new members come new prospects, the "n00bs" of today may be the icons of tomorrow. Nobody can ever predict what's to happen with PC, it's simply unpredictable.

The "spunk and interest" you may be referring to is a subjective viewpoint individual towards every single member on this forum. People have different experiences and therefore have varying opinions. But I don't believe this place can ever lose its essential touch. PC is a community, and shall forever stay a community.

Agreed Signomi. PC's deffinitally changing, as it's members are changing as well. Everyone grows up, gets new interests... and as the amount of the so-called "veteran members" grow every day, there's also constantly new blood flowing in. And that affects the way the forum turns.
It's not odd to have periods with less activity, or less "interesting topics". Interesting is something subjective. Shows you like, might not please others. It's always been like that, and will always be like that.

But to stay on topic, I don't think pc's core hasn't changed over the years. =o It's still the same base, although things change. Topics that were hugely popular back dan, remain untouched nowadays. Members who only joined for those topics, are perhaps less active than those who joined for active regions of the forums.
It's the same for me... My pokemon fandom has gone down and I still frequent these forums, but without visiting the Pokemon area as much as I used to.
It's natural for things to change... but as long as Pc remains the way it is, it'll go on being PC, just like it's always been. =/ If PC ever reaches what you call " its highest point" it'll be through his members. PC has it's up and downs, and that's mainly because of what's going on in it's members personal lifes.

I've been her for four years now so I know PC has changed drastically over the years. I do think PC needs to do things to make it more fun here. PC needs something to give members a chance to realize just how great a place it is.

Like...I don't know maybe have some sort event or something to get people to post more. Something that would make people feel like PC is worth coming to after all.

PC just...seems boring lately. I haven't seen any action in so long and even the spamming trollers don't get me in a good mood anymore. You see them so much that it's like...eh, so boring.

PC is totally losing its originality in my opinion. I come here to lurk and only post in ovp because that seems to only be the biggest place of interest for me.

Hell, have you seen the drama with debating? There are so many nubs who don't know how to debate. So for those that DO know how to debate get flamed and bashed because they got too into the issue.

A lot of people get carried away with their infractions too. They tend to leave PC because it was unfair to them and they did nothing wrong. It's not the staffs fault, it's just them doing there job. The staffers make rules because they have to keep everyone from losing control.

PC needs to have more action. They need things that can bring on more members and have more things that can become a big wide event for all to be part of.

It would at least give everyone a chance to have more fun. We don't do very much for holidays or for special PC things like, PC's anniversary or whatever.

I agree with you 100% of the way!!! tHis is exactly what I mean when I say PC has changed, it's lost its great fun which kept me here, and maybe doing something a little new would be nic for a change...but this is what I've been trying to say all along...Thank You :)

PokeCommunity is a Pokemon forum, yes?
Pokemon is owned by Nintendo, yes?

There's your problem.
Unless Nintendo stops being so secretive and decides to reveal some exciting news, PC will become more inactive.
But! That will only continue until something big happens.

As for all the non-Pokemon related areas of PC, it's our own fault if it goes belly up.

lol yes. Let's delete EVERY POST. Logical solution. :|

You can't expect a forum as dynamic as the Pokecommunity to stay the same. There's something new on here every day.

My interest in PC fluctuates from day to day. Depends on everything else going on in my life.

Unlike Derrick, I can get my point across without being tl;dr and pretentious.

Well, of course things would change. Change happens. You can't stop that. Its like wishing for a five year old to remain five forever. You don't believe that to be possible, do you?

Things come and go, same with trends. PC was a huge trend before, and it still is a trend today, but like Swift noted, our activity is based on Pokemon news as well. If Nintendo does not release a lot of news, we'll have less to talk about, thus less activity. And that also lessens our ratio of being a trend.

Another thing, though; we're not all about Pokemon. So we should not base all this on Pokemon-related reasons.

Some members were here from the start when they were young. People have lives. People do go to college and high school, or even to their careers. You can't expect everyone to be here and keep PC active. It's like begging an old man to lift a weight.
So just imagine it if all the older, more active members simply just had to leave. You'd obviously see a decline in interest and activity, no?

Of course PC changes, it changes every day, with the new members becoming active and influencing the way the community grows while some of the other members take their leave their influence also changes how the community grows. I've been here for almost 2 years now and I've seen many changes since I first joined, however I would want to just start over, especially since the current members would probably just influence the community the same whether it was all new or not.
I don;t see a point in starting from scratch when we already have a nice background and developed community. (not to mention the amount of work it would take to repost all of the tips, hacks, leagues and other info contained within this forum)

Hehehe...you remind me a lot of myself in my newbie days, I loved PC so much I worried every time it seemed something was wrong. I know exactly how you feel.

I'm sure you realize that PC is a website just like any other...and just like any website it has it's ups and downs...There are times in the year where activity does drop because of schools all over the world doing end-of-year exams and what-have-you. Especially now, US schools are drawing closer to end-of-year exams and stuff. Likewise we have a similar slump when all the European countries get back into school season as well.

If you're worrying about the staff vacancies, don't. They just decided to make a few promotions here and there and the flow of staff hasn't really changed all that much. Staff members come and go, and mods especially. They all have lives too ya know. :3
The staff will pick mods to fill the gaps as they can, you cant just randomly appoint someone to modship, there's a system here in place that insures the candidates for modship are worthy and knowledgeable, and helpful and deserving.

If there's a problem, you can be sure the staff will take care of it. Your job isn't to worry too much about it and just enjoy yourself here, the more you give yourself over to enjoying yourself at PC and the less you worry about it every time there's a drop in activity, the more you'll love come to love PC.

PC is doing just fine. It just takes some getting used to.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with being concerned, but I think you shouldn't worry. I've seen PC go through far worse. In fact, compared to 2005-2006, PC is SO MUCH better off than it was then.

It's a forum, expect nothing more, nothing less.

You just wait 'til Northern Hemisphere summertime. It's most of the developed world's time off, time to get bored, time to remember they have an account at PC. Personally I think PC is boring anyway, I just come here out of habit to post in off-topic and to offer a helping hand towards people's stupid questions and the like.

It seems perfectly fine to me. I mean, if you have not been active in a long long time I think you should be kicked out though, to open up name possibilities.

I agree with the other posters, in the way that....well, people get older and move on, but just as many people join as opeople leave. It's like life-ish, kinda. People die, people are born.

Another thing is, with the starting over, it would ruin a lot of good and hard work! There's some realy good fan-fics and hacks and such out here on PC, plus RP and Groups and the like.

Something else,is that since in some places(where I'm from, and around ME) the weather is getting warmer, and people are becoming more active(outside). But by summer, it will probably be balanced seeing as it's warm, but there's more time to do things.

I may be foretting something, but these are just some of my thoughts.

you are beyond~

Hmmm... as someone who has been here just about as long as you have, f l a s h, I don't see where you're coming from. I may not have anywhere near as many posts as you do, but I do know that I've loved PC for as long as I've been here. Maybe it seems different to you, but I really don't notice a difference.
