I'd be a big fat liar if I said I didn't love compliments. I try to be modest, though, and say thank you. Like Friday, when my English teacher told me I had a talent for writing, I about keeled over. That woman is hard to get compliments from, so it just made me feel really good.

I despise compliments. For one, whenever someone says something nice, all I have in the back of my mind is, "Liar." And second, what am I supposed to say afterward? XD Thank you is too short and overused, and the only other option is to say, "No, you are!" And that sounds stupid. XD So all you can do is smile nervously. Compliments are like a trap. Sometimes, I wonder if people give them just to make me feel uncomfortable. :x

Compliments are awesome.

I get some randomly, like this one girl said, "I love the way you do your makeup!"

(I do my makeup emo-style, so it was strange to hear that.)

I said "Thanks!" and smiled really wide, and she proceeded to say, "And your hair, I love the way you do your hair!"

(Which was also emo-style, so yeah.)

I said "Thanks, you're so nice."

She thinks I'm the greatest thing now XD

But I randomly toss out compliments. If I'm in a good mood I'll notice little things about a person and comment on them (in a good way). It's one of the reasons why I'm kinda popular. People love to hear good things about themselves.

I like compliments. I like giving them too :/

So...yeah~

I like them coming from friends. If I know you and you pay me a compliment, I'm definitely thankful. I tend to be modest and give an awkward thanks but I do mean it and I definitely appreciate the gesture.

If I don't know you and you come up to me and tell me I have beautiful eyes? No I'm more creeped out than thankful. I really wish people would stop doing this lmfao. :[ I take compliments from strangers (and most almost-acquaintances) differently, I suppose.
That's me.

Although, if a guy I don't know gives me a compliment, most times I'll think they're joking around.

i wanna be the wind that fills your sails,
& be the hand that lifts your veil.
& be the moon that moves your tide,
the sun coming up in your eyes.
be the wheels that never rust,
& be the spark that lights you up.
all that you've been dreaming of and more,
so much more, i wanna be your everything.. <3

I love getting compliments though my reaction to them vary on the situation and delivery of them.

If it's another guy I'm friends with it's like no big deal, I think 'Gee thanks' in the back of my mind, and then I just sorta grin and carry on with the conversation.

If it's a girl who I'm friends with, I kinda choke up, but I still feel really good, but I'm usually able to muster a 'thank you' at least.

Now if someone gives me a great and sincere compliment (I can usually tell when people are being sincere) I'd say "Aww, thanks" then I get all modest and feel a bit awkward..but extremely happy and all. ^^;

If I get the feeling someone is being sarcastic while delivering a compliment I get kinda pissy. >_>
I hate it when people do that.

I like the compliments that people actually mean. And, usually, if a horny boy or a horny girl gives me a compliment, I just think they're trying to get in my pants. =P

So, yes, I like compliments to a degree. But too many compliments makes me feel uncomfortable. . =/

If they're genuine, my ego likes them quite a lot. If I'm just being complimented for the sake of flattery or being polite, brace yourself for an awkward silence.
'It's been a prevalent notion. Fallen sparks. Fragments of vessels broken at the Creation. And someday, somehow, before the end, a gathering back to home. A messenger from the Kingdom, arriving at the last moment. But I tell you there is no such message, no such home -- only the millions of last moments . . . nothing more. Our history is an aggregate of last moments.'

I like compliments if they're genuine. Flattery gets people no where, neh? :0
Exactly. I don't like it when people flatter you because they want something from you.
someday, someone might just best me
but it won't be today, and it won't be you

I used to suck with compliments when I was younger. Like quite a few of you apparently, I used to feel quite uncomfortable when receiving them. Probably due to the lack of praise from parents as a child, thus hearing positive things about you being quite a strange occurance.

However, as I got older, I got more confident. Still not really sure of the correct way to reply to compliments, so I usually reply with either, "ha, thanks" or "I know." Or just a wink back at the person, provided I know them. Winking at strangers is a big no-no.

I like them as long as they're needed, like if I got told I looked pretty when I knew I looked ugly, I'd hate it.

Compliments make me feel really special. But sometimes they can be kind of awkward. This morning, a male teacher told me he loved my sandals. That they were cute. It was odd...
