Twin Soldiers
by JD
Two identical twin boys, Robert and Jonathon Flowrence, were born in the cool autumn of 2012. Their mother gave birth to them while their father fought in The Last War, or World War Three. As the two boys grew up in the war torn city of New York, New York, they listened and spoke about everything that happened in the war. There would be a major battle in the cold waters of Norway or even a battle in the arid deserts of Australia, but they would wait - Wait for the day of when the announcer spoke their father’s name in the death list.
When the day finally came, the boys were preparing their graduation of high school in the year of 2030. They cried and cried with each other, hours on end.
After they graduated from high school, they joined the United States Army; hoping to become American heroes for their family name, along with their dead father’s. They trained and trained until the day came to fight for their country in the Last War.
After four years of training, they finally got the call from The President of the United States; to go to Europe to defend what’s left of devastated Britain and France. The two brothers fought vigorously against the Russians and Germans putting every ounce of strength into every bullet they fired.
At the Great Battle of the North Sea, the two brothers fought side by side. They fought everywhere – The coasts of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany. One day, in a minor fight in Northern Germany, one of the two brothers was shot in the arm. Gasping for breath at the frigid temperatures of the water, Robert told his brother to hold on to his life. In one last chance to tell his brother, Robert, something, Jonathon passed away with pain still in his eyes. Holding his dead brother in his arm, Robert was protected by his unit, until them too, died against the enemy troops. Robert Flowrence was killed still holding his dead brother in his arms, surrounded by his dead unit.
When the twins’ mother obtained the brothers to perform an appropriate funeral, the two brothers were buried together still holding each other in the arms just like the way Robert cared for Jonathon, and just like they died together. Their mother had them buried next to their hero – Their father.
To this day, their grave reads: Robert and Jonathon Flowrence, b. 2012, d. 2034 – Heroes of America, just like their father.
