Basically, I (used to see) loads of these types of threads so I decided to make another one :P hopefully one large one. :D

Title basically sums up the thread. Remember the PC rules and try and vote in the poll as well as post. ;) What is your favourite generation and why, and try and explain why it's your favourite:

Generation 1 is the best!

Good Post
Generation 1 is the best because the pokemon designs were the best, in my opinion, and it started of the Pokemon series.

Anyway, just to get the ball rolling, my favourite Generation is 2 because I think Gold, Silver and (especially Crystal) were the best game of the series, added a lot of new features (Day and night, phone, radio, breeding, shinies etc.) as well as including Team Rocket :). Another thing which mad eit stand out was that it felt more of a sequel (Team Rockets revenge, Kanto still in it etc) than the other games. :\ Plus, I love Espeon and Suicune and Lugia are the best mascot Pokemon :)

Gen 2 because it kept the freshness and originality of the first game, but straightened out the kinks in gameplay, like the overpowered psychic-type. Also, it was just so much more layered than the other games, with several subplots and hidden rewards (like Tyrogue and the Unown puzzles)

Arent they all good in there own way? xD

My fave is Gen 4 because it has all the PKMN from the other Gen (Except legends) and the game seems to be more intresting. But like whats crossed out, they all rule. xD
he did it, not me.

It's definitely a close tie between the first and second respective generations. I mean you have the first generation, the one that started it all and attracted me into the franchise. But then, then yo have the second generation a great follow up the introduced, in my opinion, the best three Pokémon games ever made (Gold, Silver, Crystal). The second generation just barely beats the first generation. It's what really solidified Pokémon.

Generation 3 will always have a place in my heart! The reason I like Gen 3 is because of the Poke'mon designs. Plus,my other *main* favourite (Mightyena) is from there too! And,I also like it because Emerald is my favourite game. :D

Gen 2, hands down. I remember being unable to ever put my Gameboy Color down when I first acquired Pokemon Gold, and spending entire weekends (which seemed a really long time to me as a kid XD) sitting out in the garden playing Crystal. It was just so different from what I'd played before, and is what kept me hooked on the series. :3

Ahhhh I loved the 2nd Gen, I honestly don't know why, I have great memories of me being at Summer Daycare and playing Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Stadium 2, discussing rumors about how to get legendaries, I also loved 1st gen, but it was kinda...missing something, I think that the 2nd Generation of pokemon added whatever it was that the 1st gen was lacking.
When I was young, there were only 151 Pokemon, and Pluto was a planet...

I like all the games I have got a lot on enjoyment playing each generation of the games. But for me generation one will always be close to my heart. It was when I had a lot of friends to battle and trade with and I miss that side of the games now. Also the first generation of pokemon will always been my favorite.

I have to say Generation II.

Generation I has crappy sprites, but of course, it was the start of the whole thing, so people don't really know what Pokémon looks like back then.

Generation III is good, but still, there are many stuff that they could've improved on.

Generation IV. What the fook?! I mean, there are so many random, Legendary Pokémons in this Generation than all the other Generations combined!

I mean, what's up with Heatron and Regigigas is a crappy version of Lugia, Rayquaza, and Ho-Oh.

It was such a hard choice, I love them all, but I went with Gen 1, because that's what started it all of! I played Gen 2 the least, because I never owned it until I had finished Gen 3, before that I had just borrowed it for short amounts of time, and now I've lost it, but Gen 2 was great. God, I hope I find it, since I just found my Game Boy Pocket!

I put Generation I, but in reality it would be both I and II, evenly tied. Those original games just have that feel to them that are never quite entirely replicated in the generations that followed.

After Generation I and II, my favorite is Generation IV (which I've had LOADS of fun with), followed by Generation III, which I enjoyed but I don't even think it compares to the other games. R/S/E just didn't do it for me, but I'm not 100% sure why.

... Can I say second and fourth?

I didn't grow up with Kanto, so it isn't incredibly special to me and such.

But second gen was my first real Pokemon experience, and Crystal let me get Suicune, my second favorite legendary, and it was just made of win.

Third gen is just... eh. I dunno. I like it and all, but I would like a more active storyline and more trainers at the end (my Pokemon are severely underleveled right now...).

Gen four was when I really got back into Pokemon, and I just love the development in graphics (finally, when you face forward, it looks like you're standing instead of flat on your face!) and the storyline. I actually love many of the Sinnoh Pokemon, and not many disagree with me like many of the Hoenn ones do.

Yeah. Second and fourth for the win! x3

I have to agree with Lanee. It was almost the exact same case with me, too. IMO, 4th is better at least, graphic/story-wise, but man, I spent over 200 hours on that Gold version and it rocked nearly every minute (except that underground warehouse thing with the switches.) It was also before they PC'ed everything. I mean, how the rival STOLE something from an actual character and TR was cutting off the slowpoke tails.

Did anyone notice the Ragecandybar comment in Platinum?

Sidenote: then again, Battle Frontier on Emerald was utterly irreplaceble, don'tcha think?

Generation 2 is the best because the storyline is much more intriguing than the other generations, and Nintendo actually made it seem like they had fun making new Pokemon. Now it seems like they're repeating. (Ex: A dog Pokemon that looks strikingly similar to the last gen one.)

I like Generation 4 the most for the boring reason that it's the only game I actually own myself. I've played the others, too, but not that much, so of course they can't compete. There are also some Gen 4 Pokémon I love way too much to pick any other Gen: Luxray, Roserade, Piplup family...

Also, I really like some of the features in the game, for example the usage of the touch screen and also the internet connection features. Trading Pokémon I don't like for Pokémon I do like online while my DS isn't even on? Heck yeah!
