In the Safari Zone on my yellow version at like 3 am I was playing a game in the Safari Zone. I was trying to catch Chansey. I tried to throw a ball at the only one I saw. It said I 'missed' the Pokemon! That's never happened in my Yellow before! Please Help me!

The only thing I can tell you is to keep trying.
keep trying.
keep trying.
Keep trying!!! That's seriously all you can do if you find it hard to catch a Pokemon.

That's the problem. If i hit it with a rock or lure it with bait, it runs. If i throw a ball it misses and Chansey runs away. :( That's uh... the only problem that I have. My friend says it worked for him and it NEVER said it missed when HE tries to get a Chansey. That's why I am really confused here.

My friend told me that the reason why Pokeballs missed Chansey was because it was too fat, and you had to throw rocks at it in order to make it angry so it lost weight. D: So every Chansey I saw in R/B/Y, I threw rocks at. XD; I always got confused as to why Pokeballs missed Dratini, when it wasn't as fat as Chansey. D: But, the rock -> ball method has worked for me on two occasions.

Oh man that's the best theory ever.

Though I always try for a rock and then throwing a ball, but it often takes a long time since the pokemon often runs away after one or two turns. >.> Persistence and patience are your best allies in the Safari Zone. :/

It's all about patience, chance, and luck. That's basically what you have and need to do when it's time to capture a rare Pokémon.

It took me ten tries to get Tauros. After that, I leveled him to level eighty.

Anyways, like I was sayin', you just need to try more. I'm sure you'll get one someday. ^^ If not, then would your friend mind trading his/her Chansey to your game?

The funny thing is, even now when I'm having difficulty catching a Pokemon, I still throw a rock at them so they'll 'lose weight' and go in the ball. XD

But the sign on the pen that Chansey's in outside the Safari Zone sums the whole thing up pretty well:
Catching one is all down to chance.

Or something, I can't remember word for word. XD

Hmm... Well, if you're really struggling, you could do a semi-cheat? If you run into a Chansey and don't catch it, you could then leave the Safari Zone and fly to Cinnabar. If you surf up and down that bit of coast where you usually catch Missingno, you'll find all of the Safari Zone pokemon. You'll get a Chansey eventually, and they'll be much easier to battle :D No weird levels/tricks either - they battle just like normal pokemon.

I never got Chansey in Blue. And I spent hours trying to catch it. :'(
And in FR/LG I had to trade with my cousin (who had told me I had just missed a chance to have his male Chansey (he was kind of crazy...)).
Impossible little things... (as soon as you have one, you can breed a million, though!)
