Sounds like a grinding adventure...

I'd go with Chrono Trigger.

Chrono Trigger if you never played it before... If you have, do Disgaea. :3

Disgaea, however, is a great game. Kind of hilarious. Honestly, not as much grinding is needed as you may think. Sure you CAN grind... but if you just fight what is thrown at you, you should be just fine. D: Disgaea 1 is not that hard at all...

Disgaea 2 on the otherhand probably does require a bit of grinding. :3

That so? I was able to get into the thousands for levels in under an hour. It's not grinding, since you can power-level your way up to 9999 in certain maps.

Personally, I'd go with with Chrono Trigger or Disgaea, depending on what genre you want.

Chrono Trigger is obviously the RPG choice right now. How can you go wrong with that game?

And Disgaea is the Undisputed King of Tactics RPGs, even beating out the Final Fantasy Tactics Advance series in the Kill Everything Without the BS Stipulations department.

So it really just comes down to your preference. But of course you can always see footage of both games on youtube if you still can't decide. I always say it's better to see it for yourself and make your own call than get a game based on what others say.
If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you will never get it done.
