If you suddenly got transported to another country... What differences would there be in your life besides spelling or language differences? How long would it take to adjust to such a thing... would you ever adjust?

God, there would be so many different things, but mostly the government in Australia being gone would really affect me for some reason... might not be treated fairly? dunno. Oh and being without family. :O

Um. I don't know, I guess I'd just try my best to adjust to the weather changes, the government, the different people, and depending on where I end up, I might have to learn another language or something. If I was lucky enough to end up where some of my online friends were, I'd meet up with them, too.

Well firstly, with every new country comes a different set of standards and schemes to learn and become accustomed to. I can think of many things I will need to adjust to the moment I start living in a country that works things far more differently than here in the United Kingdom, and that's mostly academic syllabuses, the fact that they are likely to drive on the other side of the road, qualifications that may aid me in higher education, how my savings will be converted depending on the value of the currency, etcetera. Essentially, moving from country to country is a decision with plenty of heft, so I can imagine the boundaries in which I meet will not be limited to these alone.

Unless it was an English or German speaking country, I'd be screwed.

Actually, living in a German speaking country would be good for me. I wouldn't be so intimidated by speaking the language. Anywhere else, and I don't know what I'd do... probably just learn the language, I guess.

When I was 3, we had to go to Hiroshima for a buisness trip. My brother learned Japanese pretty quickly, and he was the only one speaking it in our family... Dad's work experiences must have been interesting XD

With culture... well, I'm pretty open minded, so unless they wanted to gouge into my flesh and devour my entrails, I think I'd be fine. Although the food they eat there... might not quite be what I'd eat without being prompted, kekekekeh.

It.. would affect me a lot of way, basically what Signomi said ^
But, in other ways.. I'd be glad to get away from everything, start fresh. It's really complicated for me to describe, most people would understand if they knew my past. Anyhow. That's all I'm going to say just now. XD;;

Change is a big deal for me, like most people. Though I can cope with change, but since I'm already use to Australian customs, it would be a big challenge to get use to other countries customs. Though if I did move to an Asian country, I would most likely be already use to most of the customs. You have the matters of changing your ID, moving everything you own to another country, all the hassles of moving a house, except instead of using a moving van, instead you'll be on a plane. I can't really predict how well I'll do if I ever moved to another country, I guess if that time ever comes I'll have to see then. If I ever did move, I'd rather move to a country where I already knew people or I would take someone with me, since I'd rather not move alone. Right now, I'd rather just visit places, then actually move to another country. I'm content with where I live now.

Eh, I'd avidly take up their native language but nothing beyond that. There are some countries I would actively seek refuge from though.
In a country like Japan I'd end up offending a lot of people (I'm not willing to be especially polite, only to treat people as equal); cultural difference is obvious given how I'm not willing to take up another nation's customs just to please its citizens, but it won't affect me unless I get cars of xenophobics showing up at my doorstep.

I'll be extremely pissed (depending on the country) because I will have to learn that new langauge which I cant stand learning a new language. Get use to the new noises and food which can be a bit annoying

I would be trying to get back to America, unless it is Italy, then I'd visit family first

I'd probably be very, very confused at first. I've lived in other countries before, but on US military bases. It's not a terrible amount of change. There's things to get used to, for sure, but it's always been a place where I've never had to learn a terrible amount about the actual country I was in, about their culture, that kind of thing. I could be myself and not feel left out. It's a bunch of US citizens, after all. Going off the base, though, that was always fun, just becuase it was so different. It's fascinating to see how similar yet different things can be.

To get randomly transported to another country? Nothing will be exactly the same, even if there's a big list of similarities. I'd just have to get used to that fact and start learning as much as I can to survive. Depending on where I go, it might not involve that much change, but I'd have to regardless. It's just a given. Considering that I have lived overseas, it could work both ways. Either I'll be used to adjusting and I'll be okay, or I'll learn that I've never adjusted enough, and it'll be the hardest it's ever been.

I'd really hate to be so far away from family again... especially how happy I've been now that my mom's out of the military. For once in our lives, we don't have to move every three to four years. I'd be mad if I had to move to another state, much less another country. It really hurts to be an ocean away from everyone I care about. Phone calls, letters, e-mails, they just can't match up to being in the same room as that person.

I don't really think the core of my personality would change, but the way I'd do things? Most certainly.

It would be interesting, to see how things would turn out, but knowing me, I'd still be finding a way to get back home, even if I was happy and successful in this new country.
