..that was stupid. Why in the world would they fly a plane that close to the Statue without informing the public first? Although I don't really think it was more than a photo shoot, they still didn't plan it out very well.

I heard about it. Seeing I live in New York and witnessed the 9/11 attacks, I literally almost fainted. I was freaked out of my skin. I thought we were gonna get hit.

Stupid government, can't do anything right. AND WE HAVE OBAMA!!!
he did it, not me.

Yeah, this entire thing is really upsetting. The interesting thing though is that they haven't even released who was in the plane/requested to use it. It was supposed to be at the Statue of Liberty and then be on it's way but obviously some hotshot decided to carelessly go through Manhattan... As much as I love Obama, it's stupid how the government can't even keep track of Air Force One. Disappointing.

I have a few things to say about this:

1. The FAA indeed notified the NYPD that a VC-25 (military variant of 747) would be flying over the Hudson at a lower altitude. However, the NYPD was forbidden to notify the public as the government is not allowed to reveal military aircraft movements and positions to the public. Still, the NYPD could have used some vague wording in a warning without telling what aircraft it is. Something like "Large aircraft to fly low over Manhattan and the Hudson, no cause for alarm."

2. Why does the Air Force even need to take a photo of any VC-25 in front of the Statue of Liberty? Photoshop is so powerful you can take a photo of the aircraft at 35,000 ft, and then take the aircraft and put it in front of a good photo of the Statue of Liberty. No need for these flybys that not only create panic but are expensive, and at this point when our economy is in the hole this is a very, very large misuse of government funds.

I just read that not even Obama knew of the incident before hand, and just as upset as Bloomberg over the incident.
