The Broken Road

Chapter 1

Quest walked along the sea side with his Staravia walking by his side. Quest stretched out his arms and yanwed. "I wonder how much longer until we reach the next town..." He mumbled to himself.

Staravia looked up at him with its big black eyes. It tilted its head at the question.

Quest laughed. "Oh Staravia..."

Quest stopped. He looked off into the distance to see the red top of a Pokemon Center. Quest jumped up and began running towards the town. "C'mon Staravia!" He shouted over his shoulder.

Staravia jumped off the ground and glided through the air after Quest.

Soon after, Quest and Staravia entered Eterna City.

Quest covered his nose and mouth. "It smells like grass...and trees..." He mumbled.

"Well, duh. Eterna Forest is just over there." A girl said.

Quest looked up. A girl with light brown hair and blue eyes stood before him, smiling. "Uh...yeah, okay." Quest said as he took his hands off his face.

Staravia flew down next to them.

Quest crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow. "So, can we help you?"

The girl laughed a little and shook her head. She looked back at Quest. "You're a battler, right?" She asked.

Quest nodded. "Yeah, why?"

The girl began walking. "Oh nothing. There is a gym in this town."

Quest followed her. "Really? Where! Tell me!" He urged.

The girl turned around. "Okay! My name's Emily."

"Quest."

"Quest? Odd name." Emily mocked.

"Shut it! It's an ownage name!" Quest shouted.

"Jeeze. Don't gotta get all worked up..." Emily said. She turned to the right and pointed. "The gym is over there."

Quest looked to where she was pointing. A gym stood on the far end of the road.

Emily turned back to Quest. "Of course, I already have the gym bade." She bragged.

Quest looked at her. "I'll show ya! I'll win that badge, easy!" Quest and Staravia took off for the gym.

Emily rolled her eyes and follow. "Boys..."

Inside the gym, it was covered with grass and trees.

Quest gazed upon the field. "Wow."

"You must be Quest." Gardenia said.

Quest jumped. He looked at the red haired gym leader and nodded. "Ya. I'm here to earn the gym bade."

Gardenia nodded. "Well then, lets get to it."

Gardenia and Quest took their positions on the battle field.

Emily stood back and watched.

"Monferno, go!" Quest shouted, throwing a pokeball. The ball opened up and a Monferno came out, firey and ready for battle.

"Roselia, go!" Gardenia said, throwing the ball. The ball spun and opened and a Roselia came out and stood ready for battle.

"Let the battle, begin!" The referee shouted.

"Quest, you may have the honors!" Gardenia shouted across the battle field.

"With pleasure! Monferno, Mach Punch!" Quest ordered.

Monferno did as told. It ran up to Roselia and started throwing punches. But Roselia dodged every one of them.

"Roselia, jump up and Razor Leaf!"

Roselia jumped through the punches and into the air. It stuck its arms out and shot razor sharp leaves at Monferno.

"Monferno! Scorch those leaves!" Quest quickly said.

Monferno opened its mouth and shot a flamethrower that spun through the leaves, burning them to a crisp.

"Now Flame Wheel!" Quest said.

Monferno began spinning. It soon became engulfed in fire. Monferno rebounded off the trees and slamed into Roselia.

Roselia was thrown into a tree and knocked out.

Monferno skidded to a stop, burning a path of grass on the battle field.

Quest smiled and threw his fist in the air. "And that's how Q rolls!"

Gardenia took Roselia back. "Hmph. Very impressive." Gardenia took out another pokeball and she threw it. "Cherrium, go!"

A Cherrium came out covered by petals.

"This should be easy." Quest said, taking back Monferno. He threw another pokeball and Staravia came out. "Staravia, Arieal Ace!"

Staravia shot towards Cherrium like a bullet just shot out of a gun.

"Sunny Day!" Gardenia said.

The sun began blazing, lighting up the sky and battle field.

Cherrium jumped up and revealed itself.

"Cherrium, quickly use Magical Leaf!" Gardenia ordered.

Cherrium shot sharp, glowing leaves at Staravia.

Staravia got cut by the leaves, thus throwing it off course and spiraling into the air.

"Perfect. Staravia! Wing Attack! Straight down!" Quest quickly ordered.

Staravia's wings began to glow. It shot down the ground at top speed.

Cherrium panicked. It just stood there.

Staravia impounded Cherrium into the ground.

Cherrium was knocked out cold.

Gardenia took Cherrium back in. She took out another pokeball. "Roserade, go!"

Roserade came out, loud and proud.

Quest gazed upon Roserade. He took Staraptor back and took out a pokeball. "Luxio, go!"

A shiny Luxio came out. It's slick black and golden fur glistened in the sun.

"Luxio, Bite!" Quest cried.

Luxio ran up to Roserade ready to bite.

Roserade quickly jumped up, so did Luxio.

Luxio bite Roserade tight. Somehow, Luxio flipped over throwing Roserade into a tree.

Roserade struggled to stand up.

"Roserade, Petal Dance!"

Roserade shot pink petals from its blue and red flower hands.

The petals sliced at Luxio.

Both Luxio and Roserade were in pain.

Quest panicked. "Luxio! Discharge!"

Luxio straighted its back and stood proud. Its eyes peirced red. Luxio shot a strong electric energy from it.

Roserade got shocked and fell to the ground. It didn't get up.

Quest's face lit up. He smiled. "Alright! We won! We won! We won!" He shouted, jumping up and down. He ran up to Luxio and wrapped his arms around its neck. "You did awsome Luxio!"

"Lux-Luxio."

"Well, that was some battle Quest." Gardenia congratulated.

Quest stood up.

She held out her hand and there was a shiny green badge in it.

Quest took it from her and smiled. "Thanks." He said.

Gardenia nodded. "No problem."

Quest and Luxio walked toward Emily. Quest shoved the badge in her face. "See? Told you I could do it."

Emily pushed his arm out of the way. They all walked out and into the city.

"So? Lets just see if you can handle gym number 3." Emily said as they walked.

"Just watch me!" Quest said confidently.

Emily smiled and rolled her eyes.

Chapter 2
Quest and Emily walked through Eterna City in silence.

Emily broke the silence. "So, why are you going out for gym battles?" She asked.

Quest stuck his hands in his shorts pockets and shrugged. "I guess I think its what I have to do. To, y'know, impress my dad."

Emily shook her head. "No...no I don't."

There was a long pause, then the sound of glass breaking.

Emily and Quest exchanged looks. They ran toward the bike shop. A window was shattered and a man came running out holding a Pokemon Egg.

He looked around nervously, then at Quest and Emily. He shoved the egg into Quest's chest and shouted "Take that egg and don't let them get ahold of it!" Then he ran off.

Quest looked back at the man, running down the road. He turned back to the shop. Two people dressed in identical spaceman-like suits walked in front of them. They had Sneasl's by their sides.

"Give us that egg!" one of them demanded.

Quest squeezed the egg tightly in his arms against his chest. He leaned over to Emily. "Get one of your Pokemon out..." He began whispering. "...distract them so I can make a run for it."

Emily nodded. She took out a pokeball. The ball opened up and a Eevee came out. "Eevee, Sand Attack!"

The tiny Eevee kicked up some sand in the Grunt's faces.

Quest made a run for it, holding the egg close to him.

Emily looked over her shoulder at him. She quickly grabbed Eevee and dashed after Quest.

Quest ran into Eterna Forest, hoping to have lost them.

The rustling of trees and bushes made him jump.

He turned around to see Emily. "God! Don't scare me like that!"
"What? I wasn't gonna stay back there and get my butt kicked! Are you crazy!?"

"In the 'party hardy' kind of way, then yes." Quest joked.

Emily glared at him. She set Eevee down and sat down beside Quest. She looked at the egg in his lap. "Why did that man give you the egg? And why did those spacesuit guys want it?"

Quest looked at her. "If I knew, I wouldn't be stumped, now would I?" He looked down at the egg. "Well, whatever is gonna hatch from it, it must be special since those spacesuit guys wanted it."

Emily nodded. She looked up through the trees. It's getting dark." She mumbled.

Quest nodded and stood up. "Maybe we should get to the Pokemon Center."

Emily stood and nodded in agreement. "Okay Eevee, lets go." Eevee didn't respond. "Eevee? Eevee?"

Emily and Quest looked around. No Eevee.

Emily ran through the forest shouting for Eevee. Quest followed close behind.

Emily stopped. She found Eevee by a mossy rock near some trees.

Eevee was patting the rock with its paws.

Quest came up next to Emily and watched Eevee. Eevee began glowing.

Emily panicked. "What's happening to my Eevee!"

"It's...evolving." Quest answered.
A few moments later, a newly evolved Leafeon stood before them.

Emily ran up and picked up the Leafeon. "Oh, yay!" She nustled and cuddled the Leafeon close to her.

Quest smiled. He began walking to get out of the forest.

Emily ran up and walked with him.

Quest became curious after their converstation before this whole thing happened. "So, why do you take part in battles?"

"It helps me get my anger out." Emily replied.

"Anger?"

"Yeah. When I was little. My life sucked when I was little. Abusive parents...orphange after that..." She replied.

"Really? Wow." Quest looked down at the egg. "And I had it hard..."

"What do you mean?" Emily asked as they walked back into the city.

"Both of my parents mysteriously disappeared when my step-sister was babysitting me when I was four. My sister got engaged then she moved. Then I lived with a foster family for nine years." Quest explained.

They walked into the Pokemon Center talking about the topic.

"Really? Wow. I'm really sorry to hear that." Emily said.
Quest laughed. "It's okay. Now that I think of it...it's not as bad as I think." He walked down a corridor, linded with doors. Emily followed.

"Yeah. Same here." Emily laughed.

Quest opened a door and walked in. He set his stuff down on the bottom bunk of the bed. He sat down, still holding the egg.

Emily sat on the bed on the other wall. "You're not gonna let that egg leave your sight, are you?"

Quest shook his head. "Nope." He set the egg down on a pillow. He took out a pokeball. The ball opened up and Luxio came out.
"Hey Luxio, can I trust you to keep this egg safe 'till morning?" Quest asked.

"Lux-Luxio." Luxio cried. It jumped on the bed and curled around the egg and fell to sleep.
Quest smiled. He pulled his shirt off over his head, messing his dark hair. He climbed the ladder and lay in the bunk under the covers.

Emily got under the covers on the bottom bunk and lay down. Leafeon curled up by her head and fell asleep. Emily closed her eyes.

"Hey Emily..."

"Yeah?"

"Do you think we could be able to take care of what's in that egg?"

"Hell yeah. We're a dynamic duo. We can do it."

Emily fell asleep.

Quest smiled. He closed his eyes and fell asleep.

Hiya Skadi! I agree with Meister and I'm gonna suggest adding a little more description to your words. It seems like endless dialogue (Don't worry I know it's not.) You're a good writer and I can tell this story's going to be great as you keep writing. Well, see you! -Fell

Chapter 3

The moon was high in the dark, stary sky. It seemed as if the world was standing still. Emily was asleep.

Quest lay on his back in his bed, wide awake. He turned over and looked down at Emily. Quest sighed. He jumped off his top bunk and onto the floor. He walked over to Emily.

"Hey...Emily...you awake?" Quest whispered, gently shaking her at her shoulder. "Emily!" He shouted.

Emily rolled over and opened her eyes. She looked up at Quest. "Do you have any idea what time it is?" She yawned.

Quest shook his head. "No, and I don't care. I can't sleep." He pulled the covers off of Emily. "We are gonna go outside."

Emily moaned. "Fine!"

Quest smiled. He pulled his short sleeve under armour shirt on.

Emily took her black sweatshirt and zipped it on over her pink cammie. She snapped her fingers for Leafeon to come. Leafeon jumped up from the bed and followed her out the door.

Quest picked up the egg and followed them. Luxio roared and followed them.

Emily, Quest, Luxio, and Leafeon all walked through Eterna City.

Quest held the egg close to him, and tight.

Emily looked at him. His emerald eyes seemed blood-shot, his hair was messed, and he didn't seem very happy. She walked closer to him.

"What's wrong?" She asked, putting her hands in her jacket pockets.

Quest didn't respond. "I don't know. I guess it's just everything..."

"Everything? What's everything?" Emily asked.

"The egg...me...pokemon...my life...you..." Quest replied.

Luxio sensed Quest's mood. It jumped in between Emily and Quest and seperated them.

Emily looked down at Luxio. It's gold fur seemed to shimmer in the light. She looked up at Quest. "Me? What did I do?" She turned and stood in front of Quest, stopping him in his tracks.

"Just drop it, okay?" Quest urged. He tried to press on, but Emily pushed him back, by pushing the egg. It began glowing a little.

"No. I won't drop it. I wanna know what's wrong." Emily cried.

Quest bit his lip. "Fine." He walked over to a bench and sat down. Emily follwed and sat next to him. "I don't like becomming too attatched to anybody. I just end up leaving them or hurting them."

Emily softly put her hand on Quest's. "I'm sorry to hear that."

The egg began glowing a little more.

Quest lifted his hand and wiped his eyes. "Yeah. Me too."

Emily felt bad for him. She wrapped her arms around him, Quest did the same.

Emily let go and had her hands on his shoulders. "Just promise me, you wont be all sad and stuff when we continue this journey."

Quest sniffled. A tear rolled down his cheek and dripped on the egg. "I promise."

The egg began glowing a whole lot more.

Emily and Quest looked at the egg. It began cracking.

"It's hatching!" Emily cried.

A ray of light blinded them for a moment. When the light faded, a tiny white pokemon poked its head from within the shell.

"W-What is it?" Quest asked picking it up.

"Shay shay!" The pokemon cried.

Quest jumped. "I know who you are! You're Shaymin! The Gratitude Pokemon!"

Emily smiled. She wiped her eyes. "Oh my god!"

Emily and Quest stared at the tiny pokemon in his arms.

Shaymin looked at them. "What? Do I have something on me?"

Emily and Quest jumped. "You can talk!" They both shouted.

Shaymin nodded. "Of course. I can see you can talk to."

"I don't like it. It's a smart alec!" Quest complained.

"Hey!" Emily shouted. She grabbed Shaymin from Quest's arms and cuddled it in hers.

Shaymin made itself comfortable in her arms. "I like her. She is nice."

Quest looked at Shaymin, then at Emily. "Yeah...she is nice." He murmered to himself. He looked down at Shaymin, then at Emily and smiled.

Emily stood up, cradeling Shaymin. "What should we call it?" She began walking with Luxio and Leafeon following her.

Quest jumped up and followed them. "How about Skye?"

Emily looked at Quest and smiled. She looked at Shaymin. It's blue grassy top shimmered in the rising sun. "How does Skye sound?"

Shaymin wriggled in Emily's arms. "I like it. It has a nice ring to it." It said.

Emily and Quest smiled. They began walking back to the Pokemon Center.

Quest looked up at the rising sun. It changed the sky from black to a mix of pinks and oranges.

They entered their room at the Pokemon Center.

Emily walked to her bed and sat down. Skye jumped out of her arms and cuddled on a pillow.

Quest sat down next to her. "You wanna know something..."

Emily looked at Quest. "What?"

"I've never believed in myslef until I met you." Quest said. He looked at Emily. His eyes seemed to be watering. Quest wiped his eyes. "I know, it's corny..."

Emily wrapped her arm in his and held his hand and set her head on his shoulder. "I think it's super sweet."

Quest's face began turning red. He exhaled so he could say what he wanted to say. "So you would think it is super sweet when I say I'm starting to have feelings for you?"

Emily looked at him. She smiled and kissed his head. "Not super sweet, but super cute." She released his arm and lay down in her bed.

Quest stood up and covered her with the blanket. He walked over to his bed. He looked over at her and smiled. Quest jumped on the bottom bunk and lay above the covers. Luxio jumped up and lay with him. Damn...this is getting hard... Quest closed his eyes and drifted to sleep.

The next morning....

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quest opened his emerald eyes to see Emily dressed, sitting on the floor playing with Skye. He sat up. "I see you're up early today."

Emily looked up at him. "Early? It's 10:30." She said.

"Yeah. You gotta wake up earlier!" Skye ordered.

Quest rolled his eyes and smiled. "So what are we gonna do today?"

"Set off for the adventure!" Skye cired, bouncing up and down.

"Oh really?" Quest questioned. He slid to the floor and sat down with them.

"Skye wants to see the worlds, apparently." Emily replied.

"Worlds?" Quest asked.

"Yes. World with an 's' at the end." Skye said.

"I'm gonna punch you out if you say another word." Quest threatened.

"Quest!" Emily shouted.

Quest jumped to his feet. "What! It's pissing me off!" He grabbed his stuff and stormed out of the room.

He walked down a corridor and across Eterna City to the docks. Quest sat down at the end of one of the docks and cried in his hands.

Emily, Luxio, and Leafeon ran around Eterna City looking for him.

Luxio ran up to him and Emily and Leafeon followed.

Emily sat down next to him and wrapped her arms around him. "I'm sorry..." She cried.

Quest wiped his eyes. He looked at Emily. He took his thumb and wiped her tears. "Don't cry..."

Emily looked at him. She sniffled. Emily moved Quest's black hair out of his eyes.

"I-I need to tell you something..." Quest began. But before he could finish, Emily had her lips pressed to his. Quest's eyes widened. He realized this was a good thing and he closed them.

Emily pulled away and looked at Quest. She stood up and ran crying.

Quest looked at Skye. "I-I'm confused."

"Don't ask me. I'm just a pokemon." Skye said.

Quest stood up and ran after her. Skye sat on Luxio's back and Leafeon and them followed him.

Emily was up against a tree, crying.

Quest ran up to her. He grabbed her hand and looked at her. "Emily, why are you crying?"

"Because...you said you didn't want to become too attatched to anyone...I'm sorry..." Emily cried. She began to fall to the ground.

Quest wrapped his arms around her. "Hey, hey, hey..." Quest held her close to him. "because you live and breathe, because you make me believe in myself, when nobody else can help, because you live girl, my world....has twice as many stars in the sky." Quest softly sang to her. He kissed her head and held her closer.

Emily looked up at Quest.

Quest let her go. "All better?"

Emily nodded.

They all began walking to Celestic Town, in search of an adventure.

Emily looked around at all the pokemon bound in the trees and grass. She noticed a boy ahead of them. His face looked familiar to Emily. "Chi Chi!" She shouted running up to the boy.

The boy turned around. His eyes were brown and his hair was a golden color and it was spiked in the front. "Emily!"

Emily ran up and hugged Cade.

"Who is that?" Skye asked.

"I don't know, but I don't like the looks of him." Quest replied. He walked up to them and Emily and Cade were talking.

Emily turned to Quest. "Oh, Quest, Chi Chi, Chi Chi, Quest."

"Uh It's Cade." Cade said.

"Good, cause I ain't callin you Chi Chi." Quest joked.

Cade laughed.

Emily put her arms around them both. "My two best boys!" She smiled.

Emily, Luxio, and Leafeon ran ahead.

Cade and Quest began talking.

"Listen dude, Emily is mine. Don't even try." Cade said.

"Whatever...has she kissed you?" Quest asked, folding his arms.

Cade didn't respond.

"Exactly! She is gonna be mine." Quest cheered.

Quest and Cade caught up with Emily and they walked on to Celestic Town.
