Hi,

The term "hamthrax" or "Mexican hamthrax" is being used regularly in the other chat forum in various threads.

I want to request that measures be taken to stop this despicable misnomer for the H1N1 virus, which started on an American pig farm in california.

Also, the "thrax" suffix is another despicable aspect of this nickname for H1N1, and it may suggest that the virus is the result of bio-terrorism.

it started IN MEXICO, not California..

I think one of the censor replacements got 'edited' as a joke.. ya know, there is WAY too much paranoia about this little flu bug.

this is not advised:

But this is exactly what I'm talking about - you're wrong. An epidemiologist would never make that statement, especially considering the case of an American 10-year old in California on March 31.

However, I suppose I should not have made this post, since whenever I correct such misinformation it's referred to as trolling.

I do believe patient 0 was located and interviewed the other day.. IN MEXICO (an 5yr old boy, IIRC) WHERE HE LIVES (next to a US owned pig farm no less) http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,518347,00.html
he survived btw.

Chill, it's a joke.
I personally would say that this is the problem. As has been stated multiple times in the thread itself, when people are dying of the 'hamthrax' it might not be all that funny to be cracking jokes about it.

I've seen you post that picture in 3 threads now Rukario, you just can't help yourself can you? =P

Seriously though, there dosn't really need to be any action taken against this; you can just despise the people that do it instead. Poking fun is all that can be expected really, seeing as how blown out of proportion this whole event is.

How many times are you gonna post that? XD

The virus started in Veracruz, Mexico, so there is really no objection against calling it Mexican Hamthrax, and I am saying this as a Mexican.

The thing has had many names from Swine Flu to New Influenza, 2009 H1N1 etc...

If it's not Hamthrax, then what else? Swine Flu cause uprage on poor little pigs and pulverized pork product sales, although it is a myth you can get the Swine Flu from those products.

And can't you take a little joke from the admins? Geez :\
