Robert Rhyme
By Damien Miller

Come here me boy, I be Robert Rhyme!
Everythin’ I say will rhyme each time!
Now lemme tell you me tales sublime…
But first me fee, a shillin’ or dime!

When Jack n’ Jill went up the hill
Little ol’ me was sittin’ by the mill
Jack was on crack, so he broke his back
While Jill who drank whisky, I soaked in me sack!

When Humpty Dumpty sat on me wall
Yes me wall, a hundred feet tall!
He ga’e me a limb, and he ga’e me leg
By the way! Humpty Dumpty wasn’t an egg

When granny me neighbor lived in a shoe
I did her a favor, she paid me back few
No woman on soil was ungrateful as she,
So I whipped all her children, and dipped them in tea!

When little baby was free to play
I hung him on a tree to stay all day
So horridly cute, there baby napped
I threw me right boot, and me oak tree snapped!

When there were no stars to twinkle, you weren’t there I’d bet,
The dark night sky was a great silhouette!
So dark in fact, it was worse than coal
So I took a few needles, and for each pricked a hole!

Alas you’ve now heard my stories told,
So gimme a coin for me pot o’ gold!
It’s up to you to think o’ them true,
If you don’t, I’ll make a rhyme out o’ you!

*Ah…Robert Rhyme is mayhap my magnum opus at this age. It took lots of wit to write this. :) Robert Rhyme is called so, because he caused the events in nursery rhymes to happen. If he weren’t there, the nursery rhymes probably wouldn’t have had rhymes, and they would’ve been told as rhymless tales. So, we can say the Robert Rhyme is ‘the soul of rhyme’.
