Agreed with Regeneration above me. The board is doing well as it is.

But the primary concern is activity in the groups in general. People just create the groups and then they disappear like POOF.

And Dent. <3
But I agree, there should be more.
Oh yes! Dent! I totally forgot about him! :D

I'm already planning out a club for a certain Gym Leader... I was going to do a Gym Leader fan club (as in, a club for ALL of the Pokemon Gym Leaders), but I feel it's too broad. So, I guess it's better to stick with one.

Oh yes, this; especially this.

I don't like the way people sometimes make groups and then never return again. We do try to keep the groups alive with some new topics now and then, but how long can this continue? Majority of the groups with a lot of potential to provide great and interesting discussions end up dying due to lack of interest from the group owners.

Sometime it feels people create groups that are too specific, like fan groups around types, and eventually discussions turn stale and boring. It's hard to keep a group active when all the discussions have been had. But then again the Eeveelutions fan group is doing fine.

I still feel like Devil's Advocates could go somewhere.

So, while this is here, I was wondering. If there was anything you could change about Pokémon Groups. What would it be?
I think it's fine the way it is. But I honestly feel there's something missing (other than activity and a mod. We got Hiiro looking after this place. :D), but I just can't figure it out.

I'm advocating for Official Devil's Advocates.

...and not actually explaining what that it. Um, my idea is that every club had an assigned antagonist who prompts discussion by going against what the club is for. Like a Devil's Advocate in the Iris fanclub would be saying things like "How is Iris better than Dent?" "What kind of gym leader has Pokemon that don't listen to her?", those kinds of things. Not being excessively rude, not being spammy, and prompting discussion.

And only that club's Official Devil's Advocates would be allowed to do those things. Each club would appoint a Devil's Advocate if they wanted. The DA does not have to be a fan or even a hater of that particular topic, they just have to play the antagonist.

I'm thinking emblems to promote (or in other words encourage) people to start being more involved with their groups. This could also be used for Other Clubs too. That and an idea occurred that maybe once a month or something we could have a "Club of the Month" or something like that. Giving stand out clubs recognition and giving people ideas on how to handle their own clubs if they choose to have one.

The Devil's Advocate idea can be implemented by club owners (not making it something that is required). I think it would be better and refreshing if the person (or people) who plays the Devil's Advocate is randomly selected each week rather than have the same one person every time.

Perhaps I'll put this idea to a test when I start my own group again; which is still in the work guys. XD

Ooooh, I once thought about "Club of the Month" before, but I forgot about it. I completely support that since I know it'll be fun. :D

I'm all in for that idea, Hiiro. This could bring more activity (and bring back members who left their clubs in the dust) in the area. I can imagine the boost.

I noticed that the PokeSpe isn't that active much in the forum board.
Yep, because MF FC and Forum already took most of the active fandom in it.

MF FC and Forum? May I ask what that is, Netto?

The fact that the forum doesn't get activity is why the fanclub was closed. You can say it was an attempt to liven the place up, but seeing as the people who used to post in the fanclub just like... gave up or something, the place is still dead for the most part.

Peaches is right. The reason why we removed the PokéSpecial Fanclub here was because it was taking all the attention away from the main forum we have for it. The forum can just be as great as the club was, but the members who were apart of it and are interested in the manga just have to go into the forum and enjoy it like they enjoyed the club that was here. Basically the forum is for those who are big fans of the manga and it's you guys who have to go there and express your interest so it's just as lively. You can't expect it to go from dead to alive over night. It takes work. ):

Who exactly shall receive the emblems? It wouldn't be fair to give them only to the owners because many a times it is the regular member who comes up with topics of discussion. Perhaps we could have an emblem for members who promote discussions in general throughout PG?

As for the "Club of the Month", we could have a bold CotM tag inserted in front of the club title. e.g. CotM: [Insert Club here] Can't think of anything. :p

Nah, the emblems would be for both group owners and group members.

Still working out the whole CotM idea.

Would every member get a emblem, or just the active ones? It would seem a bit unfair to those who actually post in the club if those that just said 'I'll join!' and never came back also get the emblem. Not to mention that if it was the case, there would be a million people joining every club just so they can get an emblem. :[

Other than that question, it sounds like a nice idea, nya.

I agree with you. If only the active members receive the emblem, it would be fine. Not to forget that in the other case, a group can have lots of members which can make the emblem giving process really tedious. xD

Yeah, it would also make more sense to give it to those who are active and helping the groups grow. This way it helps encourage the not-so-active members to participate in their group(s) more if they want to earn the emblem.

Finally, the ever wandering thread reaches the TTG!

On topic, as an owner of a club, I think that it is a good idea to give it to active members, as more people would try and be active to earn an emblem, rather than just saying 'I'll join' then desserting the club. It would make it a much more lively place to be, and there would be loads more discussion.
