Is there a factor that determines if your Wurmple will evolve into a Cascoon or a Silcoon? I would also like to know which one is harder to get. I just started the game and my Wurmple evolved into a Cascoon. It would also be nice to know which final evolution you think is better.

Do you like it?

Nope, as far as anyone can work out, Wurmple's evolutions are completely random. There was speculation that training in the day or night can cause one or the other evolution, but that was proved wrong. So, it's just random.

Yes there is. But it's just a lot easier to say random because the equation works out to be exactly 50% to 50%.

NOTE: 3 published official guides, including Nintendo's only creation, said "day and night." No that is not true. It depends on a mixture of a few numbers: nature decision number, gender value divider, and personality value. These 3 numbers' calculations are so complicated, yet comes to something that you can simply round to 50% (something like 49.97 or something, and 50.03 the other... oh i don't remember but it's something really close) for both.

Time is not related, because you can trade a wurmple to FRLG which doesn't have the time system, and it will still evolve (at the same time, it means that Eevee will not result in Umbreon or Espeon, and that the time-dependent healing moves all heal 1/2 of max hp just like the stadiums)

I always thought it was Day/night until My Wurmple evolved into Cascoon at midday. That changed me. So... If you catch a Wurmple - you'll know what it's evolution is going to be, since you can't change it's nature, gender o_O, or personality value...

Just wondering, is the evolution pre-determined, that is, the moment you catch it, or is it just plain random? So if I am one level before Wurmple evolves, can I just save the game and try out as many times as possible until I get the one I want?
