Fire Red and Leaf Green really should be conjoined - they're basically the same game remember. All there is is different Pokemon to catch. But still... with all of Emerald's new features - I'll have to go with that.

Unless you've got Japanese games, you can't complete it without Celebi - the only one to be left out of these Wonder Post events. So... you can get 385, but you'll be missing Celebi.

You really can't compare all of them... they all contribute to the metagame with the use of move tutors, making all of them essential for game play. It's not like having Emerald means that FRLG's move tutor is completely useless for example. Without FRLG, you won't be having free rock slides. Yet without Emerald, there's no free elemental punches then.

You can technically finish the NationalDex with Fr/LG, R/S, & Colosseum. I don't think Emerald is required

Did Japan ever get Jirachi? I know they got Celebi from the bonus disc in Colosseum instead of Jirachi, but did they ever get Jirachi legally?

Leaf Green is the best in my opinion. Even though I like all the games, I think that Leaf Green was more in depth, even though it's virtually the same as Fire Red. I thought that Ruby/Sapphire was a bit too short, although, I still adore the game. ^^

I pick Emerald because it has way more features than FR/LG, but they have the Sevii Islands.
