Even if Nintendo suddenly disowned Pokemon and discontinued all Pokemon products, Pokemon itself would never "end" as long as there are people like us with a backpack full of Pokemon games and Pokemania running coarse in our veins.

Without light darkness would not exist.. without darkness, light has no meaning.

(Unless you're some loser who doesn't go to school and have no job, and no friends, and have got enough money to buy both versions, and have got nothing better to do, then maybe you will enjoy it)
Yes everything but the school part you have right about me DarkTerror. I don't have a job, I'm Homeschooled so no friends, and I do have the money to buy Pokemon games and the only thing better to do is get on PC (that I can play and post at the same time). So are you calling me a loser DarkTerror?

I'm going to have to thoroughly disagree with you. More pokemon doesn't make it lame. That is frankly the worst logic I've seen. More Pokemon means more opportunities and battle situations that will prove to be different than all these other battles from the past. And Colloseum was possibly the best thing Pokemon ever did. IT appealed to a more mature crowd through the fact the hero steals, drives a motorcycle, lives in a barren wasteland and used to be a bad guy totally appeals to a more adult crowd. Plus, Ruby and Sapphire has been good for teh series too. In my opinion, Gold and Silver and the Johto saga were nearly the death of pokemon, not the other way around. People ahd grown tired of it, and it had been some time before a new game. Please notice, almost consectuviely with the release of Ruby/Sapphire, Pokemon restarts marketing, the show kicks back up, sails sky rocket, and increased Promotional events worldwide, I'd say you are greatly illinformed as to the issues presented. POkemon is coming back strong, thanks to the new games. IN my school, jsut last year, people would rather kill themselves than admit to liking pokemon. Now, three weeks into the new school year, Iv'e met a handful of people already who are a great deal into the games and TV show, and those that still don't like Pokemon are accepting of others views, unlike last year where they'd sooner stab you with a knife than look at ya. Pokemon has had an increase in popularity ever since Ruby Sapphire had been made. It won't make it back upt to teh fad status from before that you're wishing for, but no fad ever does, and to keep hoping for it is jsut wishful thinking.

And what's with saying you'd sooner see it dead than get lamer? :\Are you willling to give up on it that quickly? Ar you lobbying for the end of Pokemon as we know it? Because that is the sense I'm getting from your comments quoted above. People here know how I am about nay say, and that has naysay written all over it.
That is a great post Pogiforce-14, and is right on the money too. I have seen more stuff about Pokemon come out since the start of R/S. And how they had events and stuff. The way I see it new Pokemon on games and stuff is not killing Pokemon or making it "lame" it's helping it. I got cousins that stopped playing Pokemon games but they got R/S and liked it, played it, talked about it asked me questions on how to get passed this or where to find this Pokemon. Before it was like "well I still got my Pokemon games but I don't care for Pokemon any more".

My gosh, how could they do that? I mean, it's a bit hard to kill off Mario and... POKEMON????????? Those Nintendo people, they are really from Ninnytendo. Idiots! They don't know how many fans and buyers they have! And POKEMON????????????? If they thought hard, they'd boost pokemania back up! and mario? my gosh. I mean it had to happen SOMEday, but already... Let's fervently hope so many protesters are fighting the decision back. *dies of depression, misery, horror, and a heart attack*

It's obviously just a rumor. Pokemon seems dead in the US because we have short attention spans and don't like sticking to the same thing for years. But Pokemon is still very popular in Japan, so I don't expect it to die out there. What *may* happen is that they may stop releasing the games in English. That's the worst scenario I can think of. Many games from Japan don't even make it to the US.

The Pokemon manga series is also strong, those who think 386 Pokemon is annoying to catch. It is not annoying, think of it as a challenge. Say 500? Bring it on! The Pokemon games need patience and training, beating the gym leaders just doesn't cut it.

So, stop freaking out peoples, this is why that guy posted it in the Pokemon Rumors thread. :) As long as there are Pokefans, Pokemon will always stay alive!

Sorry if you took any offense, but what I'm saying is, Pokemon isn't as good as it was, no matter how much you try to deny it. You see, everything good has to end sooner or later, and Pokemon is no exception. People would find it more fun to collect 151 Pokemon than 386. Most people don't have time to do all of that, unless they're in your same situation. The problem is, most people aren't in your same situation. You see, most people tend to spend more time either on schoolwork, or on their jobs, or hanging out with friends, etc.

However, if they bothered to try to collect all 386(Most people won't), it would take them a long time to do that, and until this happens, they'd probably just get bored of it after a while anyway. They either won't be satisfied, or just won't care anyway. I personally didn't care about my Pokedex when I was playing through Sapphire. All I did care about is just beating the game, and then I threw it away. 99% of my friends in real life that did buy it(Which were only about 7 or 8, all the others didn't buy it because they think that Pokemon is just too kiddy for them anymore) did the same thing(Buy it, beat it, throw it away). By my previous post, I wasn't trying to belittle Pokemon or anything, but I just think the new games are boring. I didn't like anything in R/S. There's no new features(Except for stupid stuff that I could care less about like graphics and new Pokemon, the new Pokemon designs plain suck, they obviously have ran out of ideas by now). I'd prefer the DS Pokemon game to be without any new Pokemon, just another RPG adventure but with an online multiplayer feature. That'd rock. But I'd rather see Pokemon die than just having a new RPG adventure, 500 Pokemon to catch, and new graphics and Pokedex.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Pokemon(If I didn't, I wouldn't be here), but I just don't like the way it's going at the moment. I think it will die eventually just like everything else, because people will eventually get bored of it and will hope it dies. No one would like to play through the same thing over and over and over again(Or at least most people wouldn't). Nintendo's going to notice that soon, and will either just stop producing more Pokemon games or will come up with some new ideas so people won't get bored.

In conclusion, this is just personal opinion, nobody should get so worked up over it, especially when it's said on the internet.

My brother and I are getting to like the Pokemon games a lot now with the new feature called "Battle Frontier". It was hilarious: though our Pokemon were at level 41, they can still beat those level 50 7 times till they were knocked out. With new ideas all the time being churned out, like the new "double dating", I don't think Pokemon will end. Maybe it can become something like Hello Kitty, who knows?
I don't really fancy Hello Kitty plushies though, although the craze is, I heard, for longer than 10 years, and now she's become a mascot for some organisation which helps children.

386, not including Gonbe. Hold on, Pokemon is gonna possibly end? Where did you find this out (I didn't wanna go through reading every post)No more Pokemon means no more Flannery, and no more Flannery means I'll die! This won't happen, I refuse to believe it!

Need to come up with a new sig at some point...

Again, I have to disagree wtih you. Most people would rather hunt down 386 different ones and give them more thigns to do, than hutn down 151 and beat it easy and be forced to buy a different game. They may eventually get bored of a longer hunt, but at least they got more gaming fun out of it in the long run. And if they can find time to collect 151, then they can find time to collect 386. They aren't on any time constraints. it's not like after a month they ahve to stop playing it. And a great majority of the people would rather just train to be the best than worry about the POkedex anyways. So in that case, it doesn't matter how many there is in terms of game replayability. People play it for fun, and do it for as long as they can. And they do that by having more thigns to do, which is what the newer games promise.

On another note, we aren't denying ir's not as popular as it used to be. If you read my last post, you would have realized that. we're just saying it's not nearl;y as dead as you think it is, and you can't be stereotypical and apply your beliefs to every other american gamer.

And not everything has to die. It may drop down to the bottom some time, but not everything dies. As long as there is a fan base, it will never die. so long as they ahve that Theme park they're going to build in Japan, it won't die. HEck, so long as they make money off of it, it won't die.

and teh newer games have a lot more than you're giving them credit for. LEt's recap:

Reb/Blue: Gym LEaders, bicycle, pixelated graphics, elite four, pokedex, 151 pokemon, Box system, and that was pretty much it. :\

Fire Red/ Leaf Green: Enhanced graphics, Vs. Seeker, Running shoes, Animated item usage, Berries, Berry Masher, Dodrio Mini Game, LInk up with other Gen. Games, Sevii Islands, Pokedex that sorts the pokemon in many more ways than the old one, new box system taht operates much better than before, choice of boy or girl character, breeding, personality, abilities, occasional Double Battles, new moves, smoother graphics, and of course new Pokemon.

Now I don't know what kind of player you are, but you msut be one of those extremist retro players if you look at anything new as sucky and stupid. :\ But most people would prefer sleeker, smoother graphics and an updated gaming engine to something so old.

And now you're being hypocritical. You say you want a new game, but you don't want any new pokemon? What's teh point in that? POkemon is what it's all about, not some bonus things you can do. And they did not run out of ideas. These pokemon were all invented before it was even released. And there are plenty more waiting to show themselves. Did you not read Blue's comment about the 1171 confrimed species of pokemon? :\ How are teh new pokemon any different than the old ones?

Before you come back, I want you to honestly think thorugh your agrument. You're too personal with the situation, and apply your personal beliefs to every situation. which is biased and unfair, and makes for a poor argument. So please, think it over before you post again.

Pokemon was what kept the GBC alive when it came out into mainstream world. It was criticised at first for being too Japanese, but it soon grew on everyone, and became a phenomenon. Giving up on it would send out bad vibes from Nintendo... so I don't exactly see them axing it for a long time yet at least.

Just because someone plays Pokemon, it doesn't mean that's all they ever play. I've got a lot more games to play and wait for, so as soon as another game I was waiting for got released, I just dropped Pokemon. In here, nobody cares about your Pokedex. Nobody cares about your team's levels, or your mad battle skills(AKA the ability to read a tutorial). A friend of mine trained all of his team to levels above 80, and the result? No one cares. I usually just drop a game after a month of playing it anyway. Finding time to collect 151 is different then finding time to collect 386. It takes loads more time, and no one cares to the slightest anyway. I wouldn't buy Pokemon Ruby and go through th trouble of beating it again just to collect all the Pokemon that I don't have in Sapphire and trade them to it. I've got more fun stuff to do than that.

On another note, we aren't denying ir's not as popular as it used to be. If you read my last post, you would have realized that. we're just saying it's not nearl;y as dead as you think it is, and you can't be stereotypical and apply your beliefs to every other american gamer.
It's dead exactly as I think it is. There aren't as many people that care about it as before. Get it through your thick skull.

Yeah, I'm sure people would still play Pokemon in 2104. Nintendo would still be making money out of it, and I'm sure kids would be crying to their parents to buy them the game at the time. Yeah, this board will still exist in a hundred years. And yeah, just because something has a theme park, it'd never die. Someone never heard of failure.

No intellegent gamer cares about most of these stuff, people would look for something that's fun to play, not good looking. EarthBound's an awesome game, yet it's graphics are so simple and basic. Sonic Blast had awesome graphics, yet it plain sucks. Choice of boy or girl character, wow, a change of sprites amaze me.

Now I don't know what kind of player you are, but you msut be one of those extremist retro players if you look at anything new as sucky and stupid. But most people would prefer sleeker, smoother graphics and an updated gaming engine to something so old.
Pokemon R/S/FR/LG isn't "everything new". What kind of gamer I am? I don't really know, but I sure as heck not the kind of gamer who looks at Pokemon as everything in gaming. Yeah, most people prefer seeing old games ported to newer consoles over and over with some better graphics, and extra unneeded features.

And now you're being hypocritical. You say you want a new game, but you don't want any new pokemon? What's teh point in that? POkemon is what it's all about, not some bonus things you can do. People do care, because almost everyone plays pokemon, and they want to battle you. Do you know how many different people I battled and traded with on my ruby version? 26. That's a fair amount of people for just my friends and my neighborhood. And that's not counting the 9 or 10 that decided they didn't want to battle me after all when they saw how powerful my team was.

And any professional gamer plays a game to beat it in it's entirety. Only amteurs play it for a short run and then drop it play something else for an equally short period of time.

It's dead exactly as I think it is. There aren't as many people that care about it as before. Get it through your thick skull.
Now you're getting offensive and running my patience very thin. I've stated three times already we know not as many play it as before. what I've been sayin is more people play it than you realize. So who's teh thick one here?

Yeah, I'm sure people would still play Pokemon in 2104. Nintendo would still be making money out of it, and I'm sure kids would be crying to their parents to buy them the game at the time. Mockery never proves anything. Ever heard of something that is timeless? Means it's so good, that it never truly dies off. Rock and Roll is considered Timeless. Scooby Doo is timeless. TV is timeless. And Pokemon will be timeless too. When people start losing interest, do you think the cards adn movies and toys and mluti level downtown newyork department stores and theme parks are going to jsut disappear? Don't think so. It's going to stay strong, if only around those areas.

Wow, my government teacher is right. Using Rhetoric really does chew you down and make you an open target for the opponent's coutnermeasure.. Too bad you're the one using it. :P Of course intelligent gamers care, because it's called
change. Why would they want to buy a new game if it was exactly the same as the last one? Should Nintendo just keep selling Red and blue version and not try for something that is different? And the change of character does matter, because now it appeals better to both genders, since girls can actually be girls. Now if they only could change teh ethinicity of the character, then it would truly appeal to everyone.

(sigh). Again with that forever demeaning rhetoric that will be the death of you in this debate. None of us looks at POkemon as the one and only game we play. I myself play four different card games, and in video games I play Final Fantasy, Dot Hack, Digimon, Star Fox, DragonBall Z, Mario, Yugioh, Duel Masters, and that's jsut what I remember off the top of my head. And your definition of unneeded seems particularly broad in terms of games. Tehcnically none of it is "needed", since it's just a game. But if it comes to having fun, then of course people want it. IN fact, most people are wanting Fire Red Leaf Green just because they remember how much fun red and blue used to be. So that also blows your comment about remakes out of the water. Remakes are good. Heck, Disney remakes their movies every twelve years, did you know that? You' don't see disney dying off.

Pokemon Colloseum didn't feature any new Pokemon, yet you said you liked it. Who's being the hypocrite here, pal?
It did featuer New pokemon, it featured Hoenn Pokemon. THe point of the games on the large system was to feature pokemon from teh newer game boy series on a big screen in 3d. And I don't recall seeing a Groudon or Kygore in Pokemon Stadium 2, do you?

Who else's opinion would I post then? Or do I have to stop posting my opinions just to please you? Ah, now I get it. I have to agree with everyone here and never stand for what I think is right, just like many sheep idiots out there. You know what they call someone who does that? A hypocrite.
Apparently no one taught you how to debate. In a debate, you don't state your opinion. you state facts. Stating your opinion as a fact doesn't count.
And if your entitled to state your position on the issue, then I'm entitled to argue it and state mine. Such is the way of the debate. If you don't like debating, then maybe you should just step out now and save yourself the frustration, because I can debate until the end of time.

Blah blah blah
I can certainly see that reading comprehension isn't your strength. I said no one HERE, where I live, cares, yet you say people do care, and they want to battle me. Yeah, I can certainly see a lot of people asking me to battle everyday. Then you say professional gamers beat every game to the entirety. What if it was crappy game that the person is playing? I'm sure he'd waste his time playing it, just to beat it since he's a "professional gamer". No one plays Pokemon more than I realize. I can as well see for myself. When will you ever get it through your head?

So if people consider something "so good", it would never die? People thought the NES was so good at the time it was released, and I'm sure a lot of people are crying themselves every night because they don't have one. Scooby Doo's such a bad example of that. No one here likes the show, and the games suck just as bad. I see you're putting Pokemon right up there with the TV. I'm sure it's such a great invention. What if Nintendo died one of these days? What if no one cares about Pokemon anymore? What if they don't get money out of it anymore? Oh no, the idea of buying the theme park to make it something else other than Pokemon would never cross anybody's mind at the time.

You said that girls want to be girls or whatever, but it's just, afterall, a sprite change. Girls would cry themselves one after another if there wasn't a character selection you see. It sure prevents them from playing the game. I see no girls ever played Super Mario Bros. because it didn't have a girl character to play with. Too bad the Pokemon craze has slowed down a lot as soon as Pokemon Crystal has been released. Oddly enough, it was the first game that had character selection.

When I say Colloseum doesn't feature new Pokemon, I meant that it doesn't feature never-before seen Pokemon like Gold/Silver or Ruby/Sapphire. Have you got problems with reading and understanding too?

And about your debate thingie, you said that what you say has to be facts, or else it wouldn't count. You also said that "Only amteurs play it for a short run and then drop it play something else for an equally short period of time", which is, afterall, an opinion. Whoa, you blew it there. A debate where you only state facts my ***.
