So whats up with this stuff? It's some kind of "Virus" that helps your pokemon grow?
How exactly, though, does having a virus increase a pokemon's growth rate?
Shouldn't it be called a symbiote?
Will is show up in the Anime?
Why is it so rare? Wouldn't it being in the wild transmit quite rapidly?
How the HECK do I pronounce it???!!

If you'd be so kind to elaborate...

(Seriously thoough, Is it Poke-rus, Pokee-rus, Pokay-rus?)

Well according to the Nurse Joys in the Pokémon Centres in the games, your Pokémon have small lifeforms living on them when they've contracted Pokérus.

The official effect of Pokérus is whatever Pokémon you use in battle gets double the EVs when it defeats the opponent (eg: A Pokémon with the virus would gain 2 defence EVs from beating a Geodude instead of just the one). Most useful for EV training.

How exactly, though, does having a virus increase a pokemon's growth rate?
Just one more mystery in the magical world of Pokémon that we'll probably never know the answer to.

Shouldn't it be called a symbiote?
Probably.

Will is show up in the Anime?
It hasn't already??

Logic would dictate that it would transmit rapidly in the wild, but then i've never battled a wild Pokémon with Pokérus, so maybe it's something that is purely exclusive to trained Pokémon.

How the HECK do I pronounce it???!!
Lol, just pronounce it like you would pronounce Pokémon, excpet with a 'rus' and not a 'mon' ^^

It was my understanding that one recieved this virus/symbiote/watchamacallit fakevirussymbiotethingy by battling wild creatures. And what happens if a human catches Pokerus?? Our body defenses wouldn't be able to make antibodies! It would be the next Swine FLU!

I for one am determined to make some type of logical explanation for this. Call me stubborn, but I like all my fantasy monster battling games to have some sense of reality to them.

Heheh Pokerus. Sounds like poke her us. I don't think thats right.

Let's start with the easier question:
How the HECK do I pronounce it???!!

The accent above the é gives it an 'ay' sound, so it's Pokérus, just like Pokémon.

So whats up with this stuff? It's some kind of "Virus" that helps your pokemon grow?

Precisely. Your Pokémon gains double the EV points in battle. Thusly, when battling a Geodude, instead of gaining 1 Defense EV, your Pokémon would gain 2 Defense EVs, as is the case with everything. Like a Charizard naturally gives your Pokémon 3 Special Attack EV points. However, with Pokérus, your Pokémon gains 6 Special Attack EV points after fighting and defeating a Charizard.

How exactly, though, does having a virus increase a pokemon's growth rate?

Who knows? XD

Shouldn't it be called a symbiote?

Yes, since it helps its host instead of hurting it. Though, in the anime, the Pokémon may die, in the games, it helps.

Will is show up in the Anime?

It shows up in Pokémon Chronicles in the episode (English) Oaknapped and (Japanese) A Pokémon Dragnet! A Search for Ookido-hakase!! This is episode 8.

Why is it so rare? Wouldn't it being in the wild transmit quite rapidly?

Perhaps, but maybe it loses its effectiveness if it isn't in close quarters to other Pokémon.

It was my understanding that one recieved this virus/symbiote/watchamacallit fakevirussymbiotethingy by battling wild creatures. And what happens if a human catches Pokerus?? Our body defenses wouldn't be able to make antibodies! It would be the next Swine FLU!

There are some diseases/viruses/whatever that cannot be transmitted from animal to human, so I'd assume it's the same with this virus/symbiote/whatever. Example: Kennel Cough.

You seem rather hyper it pretty hard to find it so dont look for it its a waste of time just trade someone with an infected pokemon its useless if you dont ev train
I don't have Wi-Fi though. There is'nt any kind of special way to make it appear easier? I've heard that its rarer than shinies though. (ANd I've never even SEEN a shiny, excluding that ragin gyarados.) Is it really worth it though? Just for the small amount of stats you get from it?

Most people, especially competitive battlers, enjoy Pokérus. However, you can just as easily EV train with Protiens and the like.

No, there is not an easier way to make it appear, especially not without hacking.
They should have made that a pokemon ability. Be better than run away or truant.
I don't do competitive battling or anything. but it would be interesting to see. I've also been told you can "Harvest" it. O_O Any Ideas on what that is?

And then the pokemon in the Pc will have Pokerus? How would that even work?

I'll try and explain:

How to get Pokerus: Battle wild Pokemon and just hope you get lucky and get it.

How it spreads: If you want to always have a Pokemon with Pokerus, put it in the PC Boxes(it wont spread and it will stay ifected in that one Pokemon). Put Pokemon in your party that you want to have Pokerus and put that infected Pokemon in your party.

Pokerus is also only infected in a Pokemon for 3 days.

Normal is a synonym for boring

I'm guessing (and this IS just a guess) that Pokerus is a virus that, rather than actually affecting your Pokemon, instead affect any bacteria or other viruses that enter the Pokemon's body, effectively acting as a booster to the immune system. Because the Pokemon now has a lower amount of Pathogens in its body, it feels more healthy and is able to battle harder and gain more from each battle :D

Everybody covered the other questions, I think.

So trainers are purposefully infecting their pokemon with a virus and then putting the host in a PC until he is needed again? That doesn't sound very... ethical. Just seems kinda weird. Thanks for the help tho.
