Critique is muchos appreciated!
This is my first Fanfic so bear with me here =]
Also as you might like to know, I'm Dutch and therefore my first language is Dutch. I'm not bad at English, but my grammar might not be spot-on. Feel free to tell me my mistakes because it is a learning experience, right?
This is a journey of two girls, I will be switching points of view. Don't worry, it'll say whose journey it is after the chapter, so you don't get confused.
Enjoy ^^

Chapter One: Willow's Story

I never knew there were this many people at our school. It is a very big building, that's true, but the most of it is used for classrooms, not to house students in. As a matter of fact, this school was only for the Elite. Well, the Elite with money. I was a scholarship student. My family wasn’t a very wealthy one at all. My dad worked at the local marker while my mother helped out at the Center. The only reason I was at this school now was because the Luminos Institute had decided it was better to take on a charity case, to give the school a better reputation. I filled out the forms and I battled my way into the school against the other 6 candidates. That’s how everything went in this school, performance was first.

It was very stressful to be so competitive. Everything you did was judged by others. But it was something you got used to after a while. And it was also something I didn’t have to get used to anymore. My time of graduation was coming near. Near being I was right there, right before the exams began. But as this is a school that trains future Gym Leaders and members of the Elite 4, the exam is not some paperwork. On the contrary, it is the real deal.

But back to the now, too much side-tracking. The various lines moved along very slowly. You see, we were all about to receive the Pokémon we were going on our journey with. After what was probably years of ruthless evaluating, today was the day we received the Pokémon that the teachers thought we deserved. We all knew that there would be one Magikarp and one Beldum, each for the best and worst of the class. Now, I knew that I wasn’t going to get the Beldum. For one, I surely wasn’t the best student, but also, I was a scholarship. The rich parents would get mad if the big prize would go to the one that went in for free. Unfair they would say. But I didn’t really mind, I wasn’t all too charmed by a Beldum, even though its final evolution was pretty kick-ass.

Naturally I wasn’t close to anyone I really knew. It was like they wanted the waiting to go on as long as it possibly could. No distractions of friends. Not that I had many friends anyway. Kids at Luminos were snotty to say the least, no one was excited to befriend the charity case. I did have one good friend though, and his name was Liam.
Liam was a good student at the Academy, and also a fiery redhead. I could spot him two lines away. He was a little bit behind me, too. His hair just stood out like a beacon. It didn’t help that is was shoulder-length either, he didn’t try to at least make it inconspicuous. Not that it would have worked anyway.

I decided to keep myself busy with checking if I had everything. I remembered packing some potions, lots of Balls and status healers. One of the nice things of a rich kid school is that everything was free. All they gave out here were Premium Balls, funded by some sort of connection somewhere. That also meant that I could get these gorgeously white balls for free, I took 6 of them. One more just in case.

And then there was the question of clothing. I had chosen to be one of the few to just go out in their uniform. I didn’t have elaborate wardrobes like the others, and the clothing I did have was not up for a trip through the wilderness of Lumina. So I packed a spare change of the plain Institure Uniform. It really wasn’t much. I packed the winter uniform, a beige, sleeveless knitted vest over a white long-sleeved turtleneck. Under that is a dark red frilled skirt, high white stockings and my own pair of beige and red boots. Atop that I wore my beige Newsboy hat. The whole outfit wasn’t very flattering with my mousy hair and mossy green eyes, but it would do.

Back to the packing, I was getting side-tracked easily today. Not a good thing. Either way, I also packed my athletic dark blue two-piece for swimming with some straw reed flip-flops. I was wearing my summer uniform now, which was really just a bell-sleeved blouse replacing the turtleneck. I left my summer vest in my room. The Island wouldn’t get that cold in the winter, and all I would really need was my wool vest to keep me warm.

I didn’t really need more. It was all packed in my bag, which was white and shaped like a cylinder. On the straps were 5 of my empty Premium Balls and one empty Poké Ball holder for whichever critter I got today.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the line had moved quite a bit. I was only three people away from my first Pokémon. The chatter in the large hall was keeping me from hearing what the lady was telling the person receiving his creature. Another move in the line, I was now two people away from the start of my journey. I looked around and saw that Liam had seven people before him, and he looked very impatient. The freckles on his face made it impossible to take him seriously in any way however. He soon caught my eye and gave me a smile from ear to ear, his warm brown eyes beaming. I smiled back, before my line moved again and I was now standing before the white line separating me and the person in front of me. I recognized the boy, his name was Mick, a real slacker. He didn’t work at all and the only reason he was here was because his parents paid quite the sum of money.

I couldn’t quite hear the conversation, the line I was standing behind separated us with a meter or two in between.I did catch some of his words, and he didn’t sound very happy. I knew him to be rude and disruptive in class and his grades were all the way down there, so I assumed that he was the one receiving the Magicarp. Serves him right.

I looked in Liam’s direction again and saw him looking at me, so I pointed in Mick’s direction and made an exaggerated amused expression. He caught it immediately and once again smiled.

Mick was making quite a racket now. He was shouting something at the woman that came down to him telling her that his parents would not be pleased with this. That, and a lot of swearing in between. The woman at the desk was looking around helplessly while she flinched with every f-bomb Mick flung her way. His parents had put a lot of investments into the school, and they would most certainly not be pleased. But the school had made it clear that once the student was in, the money did not earn them performance anymore. Little Mick would have to deal with his Magicarp.

The grumpy kid scurried away with his Poké Ball which, from the glimpse I saw from it, was red and decorated with a few yellow stripes. It took me a few seconds and a nudge from behind to realize that it was my turn in line.

“Name?”
The lady at the desk was a graying woman with tight bun. She had that look of a granny about her, one that fed you cookies and made you listen to classical music.

“Willow Marie Marinier,” I answered while she went down her list of names to find me. I noticed that the shelf behind her held several dozens of beautifully decorated Poké Balls. I spotted one that was green with many teal spots and one that was beige with orange markings all over it. Another one was pink with black and blue dots about it and one other yellow with a green top.
The woman went about looking through the rack looking for mine, and she passed the green ball and the pink one. Thank god she also passed the one that I thought must surely belong to a Spinda. Poor fellow who gets that one. She stopped before a blue one with white markings while she checked me off the list.

“Listen, Hun, this is important. Here is your Poké Vice, it will act as your Pokédex and it has other functions, such as a built in watch,” I received a blue and white device that was meant to slip on my wrist. It had many buttons and functions that I just wasn’t prepared to find out about yet, but the lady wasn’t done talking.

“Also, here is your ID Card. This will be used for your Challenges, Challenge Masters will put on the information of a completed Direct Challenge. Also, you can run by any local Pokémon Centers for recording completed Indirect Challenges. Do not lose it, or you will be in serious trouble.”
She handed me a white card with my picture on it and information such as my name and where I was from.

“Here is your list of challenges. Don’t worry if you lose it, it’s also programmed into your Poké Vice. It has the place and the person you need to be with for the Direct Challenges on it. If you need a map, your Vice is where to look. And finally, what you were most likely waiting for,” she smiled at me while she handed me the Poké Ball, ”your Pokémon. Take good care of her! Now be off with you!”

I smiled at her as I left the line and exited the hall. Time to check out my Challenges. I know, I ought to explain a bit more. For our exam they let us all loose on the merciful island of Lumina. They give us each 10 Challenges, 5 Direct and 5 Indirect. Direct Challenges, or DC’s as we call them, require a visit to someone. They are battle challenges, mostly with a twist. Some have terrain challenges others are simply one on ones. Indirect Challenges, or IC’s, are Challenges that have to do with Pokémon. They usually give you two guidelines on owning Pokémon in certain stages and three that are type-based. This way they spice things up a little, make it different from the normal Gym run. And I was eager to see my Challenges.

Direct Challenges.

- Sea Challenge in Cape City with Mike Lavoir
- Sky Challenge in Boom Town with Ivory van Dijck
- Distance Challenge in the City of Bridges with Harvey Tomlinson
- One on One Challenge in Palmas Town with Valerie van Houten
- Advantage Challenge in Luminos City with Ferdi Britain

Indirect Challenges

- 3-Stage Challenge
- Double 2-Stage Challenge
- Shiny Challenge
- Rock Challenge
- Grass Challenge

This was all I needed to begin my journey. My Pokémon, my Poké Vice and my Challenges. Now I just needed to wait for Liam, that Slowpoke, so I could say goodbye. He might be the only one I’d miss from this school. Goodbye old walls and snotty students. Say good bye to Charity Case!

I like it. Took me until the description of clothes to realise "you" were a girl, but that's not important.

I like your style, keep it up!

Chapter 1: Marie's Story

This waiting was ridiculous! Why didn’t they just hire more people to help, it wasn’t as if my parents didn’t pay them enough to have me here. I had been one of the later students to arrive, but that didn’t mean that I had to wait an hour to receive my Pokémon. And it wasn’t as if I didn’t know what I would get. I would naturally get the Beldum. My grades were all A+ and I had won most of my practice battles and contests. Also I was enrolled in more electives than any other student. I would get the Beldum for sure. Then what was I doing here waiting? They should have a separate line for me!

And the reason I was late was because I double-checked what I took with me. Everything was minimal. I had five Premium Balls, even though I would much rather have had Ultra Balls. I had two potions and 3 Full Heals. My red bathing suit, the one that kept me warmest while still looking good. I wasn’t going to wear a wet suit should I get the Sea Challenge. No way.

I didn’t even bring a spare change of clothing. I took what I wore, which was a white elbow-sleeved boat neck with black cotton shorts. I wore an open black sleeveless coat with it made of cotton. This was a next to tropical island, it d=won’t get cold in the winter anyway. And now I was waiting in a bloody line.

There was, of course, a down side to being the best of the class. The top Student always receives one more Challenge than the others. An IC that is, they won’t give me another DC. I was determined to be the best once more, something I had been getting used to lately. The only Pokémon I could get along with were Water and Ice Pokémon. They just didn’t seem to like me and do what I ask of them. It was the reason why I lost a few battles.

I was now only three people away from my Pokémon. All about me I heard people whispering and gossiping. Gossiping was something I had never cared for, but I listened now because it was about me.

“Do you think Marie gets to be the one with the Beldum?”

“Probably. You know how she always think she’s the best. Such a know it all too. It wouldn’t surprise me, would certainly boost her ego some more.”

“Maybe you should stop talking about someone when they are in hearing range,” I advised the girl in the line beside me. She was plump with straw blond hair and a face full of acne. No wonder she was so jealous. She probably saw me and my slim body and long golden blonde hair and look down on herself. And she should, she looked disgusting.

“Maybe you shouldn’t eavesdrop!”

“Agnes!” the girl that was in the line next to Agnes tried to get her friend to stop being rude. Agnes however, didn’t seem to think that necessary.

“What? Am I not allowed to talk back to the high and mighty Catherine Mariette Montgomery? Is it forbidden? You know, the only reason you would get that Beldum is because your daddy must have paid quite the sum of money.” Her toad-like face seemed to lit up when she said this, as if it was the greatest insult ever. It was probably the best she could come up with.

“Just because my parents are better off than yours does not meant that I cheat in any way. I am the top student so I receive the rare Pokémon. And you will probably get no different than a Spinda, at best. Now your company has been lovely, but it is my turn in line.”

I left Agnes standing there thinking of something to counter with while I walked to the Lady who was going to give me my Pokémon. She had graying blonde hair stuck in a tight bun, her last Botox did not seem to have gone well and she looked like she wanted to be anywhere but here.

“Name?” Her voice was sharp, but obviously she was bored.

“Catherine Mariette Montgomery.” Yes I had taken to my middle name instead of the dull name of Catherine. I wasn’t a Catherine. I wasn’t a Marie either, but it was better than Catherine.

The woman looked over the shelf once before settling on a sapphire blue ball with a large red and black eye in the middle. No doubt to what was kept inside the Ball. I had been right, top of this year.

“No doubt you know the drill. Poké Vice, ID and Challenge List. Now go so I may tend to the other hundred on my list.”

I didn’t wait a second too long to get out of the line and the hall. I caught Agnes looking at me with a mixture of disgust and jealousy and sent her a sweet smile before leaving this place. Now my challenges. Being top in class meant 11 Challenges instead of one. But I didn’t mind. How hard could those challenges be? I got to find out right now.

Direct Challenges:

- Forest Challenge in Boom Town with Martine Koop
- Mountain Challenge in Pascal Town with Raine Haute
- Double Challenge in Holmes with Cornelia Daws
- 5 on 5 Challenge in Labyrinth City with Liliana Pacotte
- Type Challenge in Luminos City with Gertrude Monfice

Indirect Challenges:

- Duo 3-Stage Challenge
- Triple 2-Stage Challenge
- Ice Challenge
- Electric Challenge
- Normal Challenge
- Shiny Challenge

Great, I got an Ice Challenge. It could have been worse, it could have been a water challenge. But still. The rest wasn’t too hard. The Forest Challenge wouldn’t be too hard. Martine wasn’t known to be extremely challenging. Mountain Challenge was different. Raine was well-known not to let his Challengers go off easily. But Cornelia, Liliana and Gertrude would prove to be difficult. Gertrude Monfice was our headmistress and she never let her pupils get off easily. 5 on 5 was with Liliana was challenging because a long battle always asks concentration, and Liliana had a reputation of being cunning in her moves. Double was something I had to specifically train a Pokémon for, I generally wasn’t a star when it came to Double Battles anyway.

But this should nor prove to be so hard. I would battle my way through. The only problem besides the Ice IC would be the shiny one. I was going to spent quite some time looking for a strangely coloured Pokémon. They like to hand that one out, probably to keep people like me from completing the exam in 2 months. But I would be the first one to finish. I had to be. I had a reputation of being the best to live up to.

Chapter 2: Willow's Story

After I left the hall I waited around the corner for Liam to finish. There was a constant stream of students coming out of the building, but I knew Liam would know where to look. This was our spot. Just outside the elaborate yellow and cream brick building there was a long cream path. The path was quite long and lead up to the great brass fences that surrounded the property to keep out unwanted visitors and keep in students who weren’t supposed to be outside. Around the path were smaller paths going in a intricate pattern around the school grounds all around to the back. There were flowers and bushes everywhere and it really looked gorgeous.

Just behind a thick willow tree stood a white marble bench. I had claimed it as my spot due to the willow, and Liam and I had met here.

It had been a rainy day, but I liked rainy days. It was also the first week of my arrival. I liked to read under the willow tree and had hoped to do so that day. The rain had disturbed my reading though and I didn’t have an umbrella with me. So I thought what I did was quite clever, I took off my coat and draped over the book and over my head and continued reading with a little book light. This must have looked rather silly, or even stupid, and it had caught the attention of a certain ginger. He was taking a walk through the gardens and he had an umbrella with him. He had tapped me on the head and asked if he could sit next to me. I didn’t see why not.

He ended up sitting close and holding the umbrella over both our heads while I read and he read over my shoulder until it was too dark for any reading. Then we just sat there and talked. It was a start of a friendship. We were both odd ducks anyway.

And so I sat behind the willow tree waiting for Liam to come out of the building. He didn’t keep me waiting for long before he came running toward me excitedly. He looked like he had won the lottery. He waved with a light blue Poké Ball in his hand before reaching her, panting.

“Well you look quite windswept,” I told him mockingly. It took him a few seconds to regain his breath and reply.

“Beldom, my ass. I’ve got the real prize!” He swung his Ball in front of my face. I saw that is was actually a more purplish shade of blue. It had a strange wing-like shape on either side of the ball And a big white dot in the middle, with a significantly smaller dot above it.

“Well, aren’t you gonna show me?” I was impatient, something Liam had always taunted me on. But today he wasn’t going to make me wait. He was far too excited for this.

He released his Pokémon and the white light formed into a snake-like form. The creature before her was the exact shade of blue the ball was also. It had round white nose and large violent eyes. It had strange wing-like fins on either side of its head to match the Ball and it was really nothing more than a head and a long slim tail, but I recognized it immediately. A Dratini. Liam had gotten a Dratini. I was completely stunned.

“Told you all that studying paid off!” He petted the little thing and it floated behind him. It floated!

Finally regaining control over my body I quickly hugged him and congratulated him. I knew Liam wasn’t picky with his Pokémon, but I also knew this meant a lot to him. He had the chance to show everyone that this great orange-haired boy was capable of earning a creature as rare and great as a Dratini.

“So how about yours?” Liam wanted to see my Pokémon, but I knew nothing could compare with his Dratini. I wasn’t jumping to be let down. The truth was that I hadn’t even checked yet. But I had to check once, right? And Liam wouldn’t let it go until he knew.

I looked at my light blue ball. Delicate clouds were painted at either side and an upside-down egg was painted in the middle, broken up by the black line where the Ball opened. When it opened a tiny blue bird appeared. The creature was tiny, I could take both of my hands and engulf it’s body entirely. Her wings, because I knew immediately that it was a her, were twice as long as the body and white and fluffy. A Swablu.

I instantly fell for the little lady. She was adorable in her fragility and she chirped a hello to me. Despite the cotton look of her wings she was perfectly capable of staying in the air. Happily chirping she crossed the distance between us and perched herself on my shoulder.

“Look at that, you two seemed to have instantly bonded! It’s cute, you know.”

“She! She’s cute. She’s not an it you idiot!” Who wouldn’t be able to see that this lovely little bird was a lady? It was Liam, though, so she could forgive him.

“I guess we need to say goodbye now though,” I didn’t at all like this part. Exam rules.

You had to start your journey alone. This wasn’t a group exercise, their professor had told them, this was to test you and your Pokémon skills alone.

“Yeah, I guess so,” Liam looked away from me and I could tell he wasn’t too happy about this either. But then he got this tingle in his eyes that told me he was up to no good.

“What if we started out alone, and then teamed up? It never said anything about not teaming up after we started, remember. It just said that we had to start alone!”

“Liam, no. That’s cheating. We’re doing this fair and square. What are your challenges anyway?” I had totally forgot about the challenges. We swapped papers and I checked out his.

It said we had both had the Sky and Sea challenge with the same people. He also had the 2 on 2 challenge in Maryville and the disadvantage challenge here in Luminos. There was also the Beach Challenge in Palmas, which was where I needed to go for my 1 on 1. The IC’s were the double-3-Stage, the 1-stage, the Ghost, Steel and Bug challenges. He had the same destination as me for 3 challenges. I found myself hoping we’d meet somewhere.

“We have two of the same challenges and one in the same town,” I said. He nodded, he had noticed it too.

“We have to see each other sometime don’t we? I hope so,” He smiled and turned to leave. I did the same. We both hated those long stretched good-byes.

We walked to the gate together, not saying a thing. As if this were our funeral. I guess we’re just strange that way. We walked silently through half of the city before I started babbling over some random thing. I talked about the custom Poké Balls and of the Pokémon I hoped to encounter. I talked about how hard this could be and about the girl that was supposed to have received the Beldum. He just nodded and listened while his head was elsewhere. I didn’t mind, we did this often. I’d have someone to talk to and a way to fill up the silence while he was thinking about whatever he needed to think of.

Finally, when we reached the road that branched out in different directions, he talked. He told me that he was going East, toward the Dead Hills to search for his Steel Pokémon.

The Dead Hills were the rockiest part of the Island. It looks like hills, except that it’s all dark stone and there are plenty of small caves to find ground and steel Pokémon in.

So I told him I’d be going West to follow the cliffs in the hope to reach the Sea and the beaches. Half of Lumina was covered in beaches. The other half, where Luminos City is also located, is made up of tall cliffs. There were the earth just stops existing and towers over the violent sea. These cliffs were lowest on either side of the beaches and highest at the Sky Cliff. The d cliffs by the Dead Hills were also quite high, but Sky Cliff towered above everything else. It was the highest part of the Island.

And so me and Liam separated. Me and Swablu started following the road through endless grassland. There were little forests here and there, nothing big. I stayed off the path for most part, not wanting to run into Pokémon, but after a while I knew that I had to start training Swablu sometime. And I desperately needed a Grass Pokémon.

There was a reason why I was so hesitant to run into Pokémon though. There had been strange rumors, so many rumors it had to be true. People were saying that the Pokémon on the island were acting strange. Restless even. Especially the ones residing on the land and in the sea. The flying creatures had mostly been undisturbed, but the others were so restless they had begun getting dangerous.

“But we can’t complete the exam without taking a risk, right?” Swablu chirped back at me, still on my shoulder. It was crazy how small and light she was.

“Let’s do this. I have you to protect me anyways. Maybe, by luck, we’ll find a bug or grass Pokémon you have advantage over.”

And so we cautiously entered the big bad forest. So cliché, I know, but that was how it felt. We encountered many creatures, but most to scared and skittish to stay around for very long. But we didn’t have to wait very long.

The rustle was a warning, but I had dismissed it as a creature running away from us. The suddenly Swablu started chirping like mad and took off from my shoulder to fire a quick peck attack. I turned around to see what was happening and saw a Beautifly coming towards us in a blind rage.

“Swablu, watch out!” The butterfly launched a mean Poison Powder but my little bird swept it away with a powerful Gust attack. Those wings were more powerful than I thought they were!

Beautifly didn’t seem at all phased by the gust. It straightened its curled snout and started what looked like an Absorb. Green balls of energy were breaking free from Swablu and Beautifly was sucking them up greedily. No, this wasn’t an absorb, it was a Mega Drain!

“Quickly, peck it Swablu! Peck it!” I was almost hysterical at this point. I was shouting at Swablu, who needed no encouragement to carry out my command. She flew toward the Beautifly with her beack read to do some nasty damage. The opponent had still been busy sucking up energy when it was hit. The attack did great damage and Beautifly recoiled painfully.

“Quickly Astonish it before it can start again!” It was already trying to launch another Mega Drain but my Swablu was faster. It flew at the creature with a sharp cry. Just when it was about to hit it head on, she turned and tackled it with her back.

The flinched Beautifly seemed to be out of it and couldn’t do anything while I asked Swably to perform another Peck attack. Before this one could hit the Beautifly restored itself and performed a Whirlwind. The winds trapped Swably while the butterfly flew back into the woods.

“Swably, are you alright?” It hardly needs asking. Swablu had hardly been affected by the bug attacks. She was a bit agitated by her loss, though, but I pet her wings to soothe her.

“There will be more, I promise. Come let us search for a Grass Pokémon. It will not get away this time.”

It seemed that the Pokémon themselves weren’t quite so convinced at this. We encountered some bellsprout, but they all hid at the side of us. It seemed that instead of being dangerously restless, the Pokémon seemed to just be extremely skittish. This reassured me quite a bit and I dared get deeper into the forest. There wasn’t much deeper, however, because it was still quite small. Nothing compared to Bascus Forest by Boom Town. Nothing at all.

When there was a rustle that didn’t die out quite as easily, I didn’t hesitate to catch it. Both Swablu and my were sick of trying to catch something that keeps getting away. I could see something green in the bushes and that was all the encouragement I needed.
“Get behind it and peck it,” I whispered to her and she did what I asked. I waited patiently, but after a couple of minutes I heard a yelp and the green thing started to run my way. I quickly stepped in front of it.

“Oh, no you don’t! Swablu peck it again!”

This time the little creature did not get caught off guard and it quickly dodged, grabbing Swablu with green vines that came out of a green pod on its back. The Bulbasaur had grabbed the wings and Swablu couldn’t get away.

“Swablu, come one little one, try to get close to it and peck it!”

No matter what she did, she couldn’t get away from the vines, and they held her tightly away from the body. But while Swablu was now caught, the Bulbasaur couldn’t get away anymore either. That’s when I got an idea.

“Swablu, do you know ding already?” I wasn’t quite sure at what point a Swablu learned Sing, but this one didn’t seem to be that young anymore.

As to answer my question the Swablu started singing a lovely tune. I knew I didn’t have to cover my ears, Swablu’s song would only reach the one she was focused on. The Vines seemed to tremble a bit as their owner struggled to stay asleep. It fired off a Razor Leaf. The sharp leaves hit Swablu, but she still didn’t stop singing and it was a matter of seconds before the vines dropped and the Bulbasaur was fast asleep.

“Great job Swablu! Now let’s see if I can catch this little fellow,” I fumbled with one of the Premium Balls for a bit, but I couldn’t get it loose. I took too long and Bulbasaur was already waking up. He grumbled angrily and fired a Leech Seed at Swablu.

The seed sprouted and little green appendages surrounded Swablu and started sucking at her energy, feeding Bulbasaur’s. While static green energy started bussing around Swablu, Bulbasaur’s bulb started glowing a dull green.

“Come on little one, fight it, I know you can!”

She started picking on the vines surrounding her. It took her a while to get a hold on her, a bit of static energy always interrupted her, but she got one in her beak and ripped it off her. She started pecking at another one and got this one quicker. The last one she got almost immediately and quickly shook the seed and its sprouts off of her. Now she did not look very happy.

Without having to give her a demand she started a rapid Fury Attack on Bulbasaur, pecking away at him. It looked as if it would never end, she kept lashing out at him with her beak. She ended it with a peck, and the Bulbasaur couldn’t resist any longer. It fell to the ground, and Swablu landed on its bulb squawking in victory. She was quite enjoying this.

I had finally managed to get the Premium Ball from its holder and I threw it at Bulbasaur. Instead of a white light, a red light poured out and engulfed Bulbasaur. It shook once before staying silent. I had caught my first Pokémon, and ahd completed my first challenge. I had caught my grass Pokémon.
