Maybe we should restrict giving out reputation to supporters. xD!
Actually, that's not such a bad idea. It would encourage people to support more, and perhaps you can trust supporters a little better than regular users. (No offense to non-supporters!) But then people might just donate one dollar so they could abuse the system... better make it tier 2 or something.

Good thing is that most kids can't pay money online, so it would restrict reputation to people who are generally more mature. Although not really...

I like the reputation system, it gives you an idea of what people think of your posts. Some people need to man up though, I see people who get 1 or 2 negative reps and they go and report it to an admin then make a thread complaining about it. If alot of people are neg-repping you for a particular post maybe take a look at that post and try to see why so many people neg-repped you, not all of them are abusers.

Anyways, its just a few coloured bars, if you don't like getting neg reps you should just disable it. People are taking it way too seriously. The system can be great however I think some people are being immature and not using it properly. I honestly don't mind if it was disabled, sure I like it but with all the complaints and abuse of it, I think it'd be better for PC just to disable it.

You guys have got to be kidding about making it supporter exclusive, right? That would just create more complaints than it would avoid.
Shall we disable it altogether?

To tell you the truth, at this point I wouldn't even twitch to see the reputation feature go. I mean if so many people have to constantly whine and complain about something so little almost everyday, then instead of always hearing it constantly, then just remove it.

I like the feature, and to have gotten it back was a priveledge, but to see so many either abuse it or take it a bit overboard I think is just going too far for one Pokémon Fanbased community. If no one wants to disable it or listen to what others may think, then just remove the problem instead of making it bigger.

But then again, people might whine about not getting enough positive rep? xD;
People already do that.
A lot.
And it's sickening.

Rep, itself is cool. Abuse, however, is getting old and retarded.
Using the logic of "I liked that post" is what allows people to pozrep someone's every single post, so what's the point?

Making reputation supporter only wouldn't help, either. That's like, you have to pay to tell someone what you think of their post..? :\

Reputation should be turned off. :|

Goddamn it. If you all keep acting like little kids, this lollipop is gonna get taken away again and you won't get it back.

I could care less about reputation. However, the prime cause of reputation abuse is because of little 10 year olds and even 8 year olds for the rare matter. A better idea to make it fair for all general population is to disable reputation to a certain age group. I don't think anyone under 12 has the maturity to handle the system and restricting to supporters will not help at all.

Age has little to do with maturity in some cases. That would be unfair for those people who are 12 and under, yet have more maturity then a lot of older users on this forum. :/

Wow. This thread is like the Energizer Bunny.. xD; It's gonna keep going, and going until someone closes it. Then another one's gonna pop up.. >.> At least it will as long as the rep system is enabled.

Yes, I know. xD; But everytime a rep thread pops up, it ends with people arguing over the system in general.

That's what makes them amusing. |D
Totally. >w>

Yes, and arguments are very fun in PC, it will help us sort things out and know how other feel about stuff.

I personally think the people who have their reputation disabled, should not be able to recieve any more reputation again. It makes no sense for them to be able to still recieve bad reputation in my conjecture. Why don't reputation abusers get warnings/infractions? It'll scarcen the amount of rep abusers; or so I believe...I could be wrong.

I really couldn't care less about reputation... And that isn't just because I have none now, and got about 3 bars last time it was active.

Reputation may be an incentive to post more maturely and have posts of a higher calibre, but ultimately it distracts people who already post that way from posting, as people waste all their time giving out rep in an inevitably frivolous manner. There. Opinion voiced.

Oh, by the way, the rep thing? It's because I don't post.

I cringe at things I've said here in the past years.

First name me an 11 year old who was probably the most mature of them all before their teens in this forum. Then you can justify that...

Nope, not me. I was immature when I was 11. Try again :\.

Lol. Is there anyone who remembers me when I was on pc more actively? When I joined I was ten. I consider myself to have been just as mature then as I am now, but can anyone justify that?

EDIT:Wow, I just caught myself getting off topic. Don't mind me, and don't carry on this branch of the conversation, please?

I think that it would be unfortunate if a site-wide feature were to be disabled based solely on the fact that some members have not learned how to handle opposing view-points and criticisms from others. Nevertheless, the site administrators should follow through with whatever choice they feel is necessary for the good of their website.

That's kind of how I feel about it. I like the rep system. I think if we could make the rules for reputation a bit scricter, it might calm down some since people would start getting warnings and infractions. At least, that's what I think.

It's not only stricter rules, we also need an age limit. We can prohibit <12, or maybe =<10. Because it's obvious little kids coming here cannot handle criticism or any sort of formal discussion. With that, it should be enough to cut off most of the spam rep. Besides that, we should also prohibit reputation from members with multiple infractions for a time limit or permanently. Those are the kind of people that tend to abuse the rep system.

Cherii is 1 and The Cat in the Hat is 0. Ayano Katagiri was 7 for a while and then suddenly had four birthdays and turned 11. In fact, if I felt like it, I could go make myself 8 years old right now. Point is, Age: you can lie about it on the internet.
