Hello all!

This is my first attempt at a fic in a while. I hope you all enjoy. I'll start out by posting the character bios first and the first chapter. Please let me know what you all think! The story takes place along the same time period as HG/SS and will involve many characters from the canon, including some new ones. I am trying to make it very realistic, so if it does not sound like the anime, that's probably why. :P Also, I tried to make the Pokemon's cries sound similar to how they do in the games.

Let me know what you all think! Thanks for reading!

-----------------------------
Major Characters
Aurico
– A twenty year old who lives in Ecruteak City, although he attends university in Mossdeep City. He had to come back to Ecruteak City because he could no longer afford to attend Hoenn State University. When Aurico returns, he decides to visit his friend Morty, who had just graduated there. His father works at the train station in Goldenrod City as a mechanic and his mom runs a café in Ecruteak City. Aurico was studying biology, but has decided to take some time off from his studies and get some work experience. He now works for the Historical Preservation Society of the Tin Tower (HPSTT). While he doesn’t claim to be an expert trainer, he did earn two gym badges when he was sixteen. Aurico’s roster includes: Pichu, Espeon, Totodile, Tropius, Skorupi, and Torchic.
Christine
– Christine is a nineteen year old from Sinnoh, Sandgem Town, to be exact. She trains water and dragon-type monsters. After graduating high school, she decided to visit her cousin, Frank, who lives outside of Olivine City. Aurico went to school with Frank and met Christine while visiting Frank’s family farm outside of Olivine City. Her goal is to live on a Pokemon reserve and study water Pokemon with the world famous Professor Oak in the Kanto Region. Christine’s team includes: Chinchou, Slowpoke, Seadra, and Mantyke.
Frank
– Christine’s cousin that lives in a small town outside of Olivine City. His family owns a farm that raises Miltanks for a living. Frank is twenty-one. While he never had a formal Pokemon journey, he did study at the Trainer’s Academy in Jubilife City in Sinnoh until he entered high school. When he returned to Johto, he attended Cherrygrove Prep. School with Aurico. He has a strong interest in competitive battling and is very passionate about the ethical treatment of Pokemon. Frank’s roster includes: Miltank, Cyndaquil, Piplup, Hoppip, and Volbeat.

“Whew, that was a good run!” said the young man to himself as he threw off the sweatband that was around his forehead. He began a short walk back to his car, which was parked at the entrance of the Green Hill Park. Soon thereafter, his Pokégear began to ring. He grabbed it out of his backpack, pushed the ‘talk’ button, and said hello.

“Hey, Aurico, can you stop by Frank’s family’s store? I need some milk for the coffee shop,” the voice of an older woman spoke from his device. Slicking back his sweaty hair, he threw his iPod into the passenger seat with his other hand. He fumbled around a little in the glove compartment for a small blue and white sphere that resembled a fishing bobber.

“Yeah, Ma, that shouldn’t be a problem. I’m about 2 minutes from there right now,” Aurico said as he climbed into his jeep to roll up the windows.

“Okay, thanks honey! I’ll see you when you get home. Don’t say out too late!” his mom warned. Aurico assured his mom that he would not because he had other things he needed to do. He hung up with her and began to walk towards the end of Route 38 towards his friend Frank’s farm. From a distance he could see Volbeats and Illumises flying throughout the air, lighting up the sky as the sun was setting.

“Pichu, you can come out now,” Aurico commanded. The ball in his hand expanded to about the size of the palm of his hand and opened up. A red laser light poured out of it and formed itself into a yellow mouse, with the red fading into the creature. “Let’s pick up this milk so we can go home.” It twitched its ears and smiled. The Pichu only stood at about the top of Aurico’s calves.

“Riiiiaaaia!” he screeched in a high-pitched squeal. The two began walking and the ball shrunk back to its small size as Aurico slipped it into his backpack. He pulled out his Pokégear to check the time. It was almost 8:30 PM.

“Alright, Pichu, we have to run there. I do not want to be out any longer than I have to,” Aurico told his yellow mouse Pokémon. Pichu look up at him innocently. It whimpered. “Oh, fine. You can jump up on my shoulders. Just hang on this time!” Without hesitation, Aurico’s Pichu darted up to his shoulders and he dashed toward the store. He stayed on the road as best he could because he did not feel like dealing with any wild Pokémon in the tall grass or brush. After running for five minutes, he finally saw the sign for the market.

Aurico slowed down and began to walk. As he got closer, he noticed a Volkswagen van swerve almost into the side of the building. The sliding door flung open and three Asian men in dark maroon suits jumped out. They sported black sunglasses and all had earpieces. Not wanting to get involved just yet, Aurico stopped at the top of the hill and ducked down behind a small fence. He pulled out his Great Ball and returned Pichu to it. The three men looked around while the driver got out of the van, armed with a rifle. A man in the passenger seat wore a navy blue and black suit with a cab driver’s hat. His hair was rather long and pulled back into a ponytail. He stroked his thick goatee and smirked when he saw the three suited men walk into the store.

“Ahhhhhhh! No, stop!” came the screams of a woman from the store. A loud roar came from a green and black spotted Poké Ball as a red beam of light shot out of it forming itself into a huge, furry, black dog looking Pokémon. Aurico immediately recognized it as a Mightyena, a fierce and ruthless Pokémon that only truly strong trainers could master. The Mightyena roared again and all the windows in the store shattered at once. At this point, Aurico did not know what he should do. Should he step in and battle the thugs that were attacking his friend’s family’s store? He only had a few Pokémon with him.

BOOOOOM!
A burst of flame shot out of the doorway and spots where the windows were. The three men flew out the building breaking any remaining glass that was in the windows and collapsed on the ground. Their bodies looked charred as they writhed in pain. One of them in a pathetic attempt to keep the battle going, tossed out a Poké Ball from his burned hand. It opened up and small metal ball with two magnets on its sides fell out.

Aurico looked at the man in the passenger seat, who looked oddly familiar to him. He watched him as he pulled off his sunglasses and threw them down angrily. The man slammed the van door and pulled out a Poké Ball from his belt. Quickly, the driver who was guarding the van looked over at the passenger, who appeared to be the leader.

“Shoot them dead! I want every penny from that vault in there and all of the supplies!” the leader ordered. The driver obeyed and began to march into the store.

“Yes, sir, Mr. Miller!” he replied in an almost mechanical tone.
Aurico quickly walked down the hill, making sure to hide himself around bushes and trees so that he would not be seen. He then came up with a brilliant idea. Trying to find the correct Poké Ball, Aurico felt around on his belt. He pulled out a pink ball that had purple markings all over it. Gently tossing it to the ground, a purple fox-like Pokémon with split tails shot out as the Poké Ball flew back into Aurico’s hand.

“Eoowwiii aa wii!” Espeon cried. Luckily, no one by the store heard it. Aurico whispered to Espeon telling it what to do. Off in the distance he could hear Miltanks mooing and crying. He had to think of another plan quick.

That’s it!
He thought. Aurico grabbed the third Poké Ball on his belt and threw it to the ground. It opened up and a blue crocodile standing on its hind legs appeared. “Waah nii?” Aurico bent down even further to give orders to his Pokémon.

“Totodile, I want you to sneak down there and bite all the tires on that van! Get all the air out of them. But you have to hurry!” Aurico told his Totodile. It nodded its head and crawled on all fours as fast as its little legs would carry it. Looking towards his Espeon, he said, “Alright, Espy, let’s do this.”

Aurico ran full speed down the hill yelling and screaming trying to get the attention of Mr. Miller, the mysterious passenger. By this time, Totodile was out of sight and chomping on the tires. Miller did not see Aurico, but he heard him. He turned around, but it was too late. Aurico jumped on his back and proceeded to beat him. Although the man was not the most muscular looking, he slammed Aurico on the ground and tidied up his suit. He smirked. “What is this?”

At that moment, the driver walked out behind two people with the Mightyena struggling behind him, pointing his gun at their backs. “Ahh, yes. Mrs. Williams. How nice to see you again,” he hissed at the disheveled woman. She tried to spit at him, but felt the barrel on the gun touch her spine.

Miller kicked Aurico on the ground as he was trying to regain his breath, knocking it out of him again. Mr. Williams groaned in horror at seeing the beat up Aurico on the ground. “You scum! What makes you think you can attack these innocent people?!”

“I work for a very powerful man, who does not like your little friends here. They owe him some debts, let’s say,” Miller stated matter of factly.

“They owe you nothing!” Aurico screamed. He then coughed as he was still trying to recover his breath. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw his friend Frank with his Cyndaquil at his feet peering out of the damaged storefront. “Totodile, Crunch!” Aurico commanded his Totodile to bite Miller.

“Waaaaaa!” Totodile screamed as it dashed in the air, finally locking its jaws onto Miller’s left leg. Miller collapsed and screamed in pain, trying to kick Totodile off him. The blue Pokémon would not let go, but bit down harder. Miller’s suit pants began to dye a deep red and blood started to trickle down out of the pants leg.

“Frank, look out!” Frank’s mom screamed as she saw the Magnemite coming straight toward him, static emitting from the ends of the magnetics. The patches on his Cyndaquil’s back lit up with a bright flame and it let out a screech before fire poured out of its mouth like a flamethrower. The metal on the Magnemite started to melt and it dropped to the ground like a dead fly. Cyndaquil jumped up and stood in front of the driver, poised to burn him at any second’s notice.

Aurico slowly stood up and commanded Totodile to let go. He glared at the driver as Totodile and Cyndaquil prepared to attack them. “Drop that gun, or I will have my Totodile rip your throat right out of your neck.” Timidly, the driver dropped the rifle without so much as a second thought. “Espeon!” Aurico called out to his psychic Pokémon. In a second, the purple fox appeared in a flash of brilliant violet light. Its eyes turned bright blue to where one could not see its pupils at all. The rifle levitated and pointed the barrel right between his eyes. The man cowered and tried to crouch down, but the gun followed his movements.

“Frank, get something to cuff this dirtbag!” The skinny 5’5” boy did what Aurico said and found some rusty chains. Frank wrapped them around the man’s wrists and tied them to a parking sign. There was no way for him to move. Just to taunt him, Frank’s Cyndaquil faced his behind toward him, lit up its back, and started to walk backwards. The driver began to panic and almost wet his pants.

Frank laughed at his little porcupine Pokémon. Aurico had a smile of satisfaction that took over his worried face from before. He then looked to his left and saw that Miller was still on the ground, writhing in pain, his eyes bloodshot. All he did was look over at Frank.

“Yeah, I’ll get some chains for him too!” Frank found another string of rusty chains and wrapped them around his whole body, making sure he could not escape, even though Miller’s left leg was useless to him now. Miller screamed as he looked down at his leg. The fabric on his pants was torn off and he could almost see the bone of his shin on the other side.

As compassionate as they were, Frank’s parents went to get bandages for Miller. Aurico then called the Police to have them pick up the criminals. “Whose Mightyena was that?” Aurico asked Frank.

“Oh, it’s mine!” Frank said proudly. “Yeah, her roar is pretty powerful!” He pulled out his Dark Ball and ordered Mightyena to return. She was rapidly absorbed in a red laser beam. Aurico looked shocked because he never expected his friend to be such a master trainer.

“Very impressive, Franky,” Aurico smiled. “I once tried to catch a Mightyena when I was in Hoenn, but the thing nearly killed me!” he reminisced to his friend. Minutes later, with sirens wailing three squad cars followed by an ambulance and SWAT truck arrived on the scene. The SWAT truck opened its back doors and eight heavily armed men with shields and nightsticks jumped out. They promptly picked up the three unconscious bodies on the ground and put them in an ambulance. The Police stretched out caution tape around the scene as reporters tried to get the story of what happened. A tall man in a brown trench coat and brown fedora hat got out of a blue squad car and walked over to Frank and Aurico.

“How can I help you sir?” Frank asked the tall man. This man had a very commanding presence.

For a moment, he just stood there, but when he talked, he spoke in a deep tone. He was very stern and intimidating to Frank and Aurico. Looking down at his PokéNav, typing in the information on the screen he said nothing. Then he glanced up after finishing and stared at Aurico point blank, “I go by the name of Looker.”
