I like cel-shading myself... 3D isn't going to look that realistic anyway... but still... *drools over the thought of a Pokmon virtual reality game*

Still not going to sprite for your fangame. Sorry, but I don't really sprite or give out permission for people to use my fake Pokémon anymore.

It really depends on who's doing the Cel Shading, and if they're going to use those same tired 3D models otherwise. You could probably get a lot more expression out of Cel Shading, so I'll go with that.

And Pokemon looking too realistic would be no different than going outside and looking at plain old boring animals IRL. Even if the tail is on fire or the wings are made of ice (for example), they'd lack expression and character, for the most part.

Well, for the next game, they need to concentrate more on the actual expressions. If it's on Game Boy or DS, then there's not much they can do about it, but if it'll be on the N5 or something, then they'll have the power to tweak with the Pokemon's expressions. A bit like Pokemon Channel, only not as pathetic basically. Out of the options given... probably more realistic, anything in comparison to Soul Calibur II or Star Fox Adventures would suit me fine. ^_^

Cel shading. Pokemon are meant to be colorful and full of emotion and expression. And with their spikey fur and other decorations, some of them just translate poorly to 3D, like Gengar and Primeape. And Eevee never opens its mouth! It needs expression!

Frankly it would be rather hard for them to mess with the expression, since expression usually goes hand in hand with communication and emotion, neither of which Pokemon never expressed very well. :\ But I myself would liek to see a more reaslistic pokemon game.
