Johhny Cash's cover of Hurt which was originally written and composed by Trent Renzor from Nine Inch Nails. I never much liked NNN's version of the song but Johhny Cash transformed the song completely and made it into one of his all time best songs. The fact that the video for that song was his lase one before he died really puts more significance to the song. It's such a beautiful and different cover. Such a perfect song too, nothing fancy and not even catchy, the lyrics are so heart felt, not only in the way they are written but in the way they are vocalized too. Jonny Cash's version is just over 3 minutes long where as NN's version is more than double the length, if they had swapped the length around JC's version would still be tops.

Gary Jules takes on Mad World is without doubt the greatest and best song cover in the world to me. When Tears for Fears wrote it, the song was a hippity hoppity hit and I admit that the dance moves in the music video were pretty awesome! But... When Micheal Andrews and Gary got together, they created a beautifully tragic song. The people who wrote Mad World gave the song its lyrics. The people who covered it gave the song some soul.
'It's been a prevalent notion. Fallen sparks. Fragments of vessels broken at the Creation. And someday, somehow, before the end, a gathering back to home. A messenger from the Kingdom, arriving at the last moment. But I tell you there is no such message, no such home -- only the millions of last moments . . . nothing more. Our history is an aggregate of last moments.'

I'll second Gary Jules' 'Mad World' as an excellent cover. Muse's cover of 'Feeling Good' (generally thought to originally be by Nina Simone, but actually written for a musical) and Jeff Buckley's 'Hallelujah' (originally sung by Leonard Cohen) are both fantastic songs too.

Still Fly - The Devil Wears Prada is probably my favorite. I've got others I love, but I seriously can't think of them for the life of me. I just know I love this one. XD
I couldnt agree better myself, it made me want to listen to the original which I despise a lot

BFMV did a great job on a Creeping Death cover which was originally written by Metallica and Scary Kids Scaring Kids did a great job on Losing my Religion which was originality wrten by R.E.M
