What do you think of revenge? Must you get back at someone for something they did?

As for me, well, no I don't do revenge. Nope. Reason? Bad experience with it, people just get hurt and angry.

Like a lot of things, revenge doesn't solve problems, it just makes them a whole lot worse and drags more people down with it.

I try to avoid doing things like that with all my might, so no, I'm nowhere near the type to take revenge.

Perhaps if I'm playing against someone on Brawl or something and I get knocked out of the arena then I'll go after them after re-spawning, but beyond that, I think revenge is pointless.

I don't support revenge at all, and I think the saying "an eye for an eye..." pretty much sums up the consequences of it. It's better to learn from the experience and make sure it doesn't happen again for you, either by avoiding interaction with the offender or just being on your guard more. Sometimes you might need to go a bit further if you want to make sure it won't happen again, but blind revenge won't do that either.

But if you take both of their eyes while they only have one of yours, you can still see, and get a cool eyepatch. :3

Translation: They screw me over, I way overreact and try to do much worse to them. :D
Yes, but then they get TWO eye patches.

Revenge is as sweet as sugar, I love it.
haha, same in some situations. Well you just have to get back at people. I'm pretty sure everyone's who said they don't do revenge has committed revenge in some tiny little way. Just like.. pushing someone back or calling them something back. I guess that counts as revenge.

I shouldn't support revenge, but under certain circumstances, I do. If someone has done something really bad to you, you should be able to get them back.

I get revenge on people all the time, I know I shouldn't, but I can't help it.

Haha, in video games it's harmless fun but otherwise... no, it's pretty stupid. Dwelling on something like the prospect of revenge in the off-chance you can carry it out just sounds so obsessive and creepy and unhealthy. :( Definitely not something I'm interested in.

Call of Duty has taught me that whenever you go for revenge kills, you will only end up increasing your own death count. When it comes to real life things, if we're having a prank war or doing something harmless, then I will most likely go for revenge. However, in more serious situations I know that revenge will only make things worse, so I try to avoid it (to a certain point, of course).

Instead of slapping the other person back, I tend to go overboard on turning the other cheek. X3; I hate senseless fighting so I'll put up with people being horrid for the sake of trying to keep the peace you know? I think turning the other cheek and letting it go has its place but you also have to stick up for yourself too. Which I'm bad at. >o>;;;

If more countries *coughunitedstatescough* took Gandhi's words to heart, and actually worked to prevent violence from occurring instead of punishing violence with violence, then the world would be a lot happier place. This also goes for things like the death penalty, where you kill someone for killing someone.

Instead of "an eye for an eye," it should be "an eye for me preventing you from ever taking mine or someone else's eye again."

That's my feel-good post of the day. ;)

I support revenge, as it will reduce the overall number of offenses.

Why? If people know they'll get their own eyes poked out for messing with other people, it will serve as a deterrent. The Code of Hammurabi, the first written law text of Babylon, was the source of the "eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth" quote. This law was surprisingly effective because the Babylonians were raised in an environment where they knew that if you broke a farmer's leg, you would either have your own leg broken or be forced to work in the farmer's fields until his leg healed... and then you'd most likely have your leg broken.

The current "revenge is bad" (the "the whole word goes blind" addendum) mentality is a shield for created by and for those who do not want to accept responsibility for their offenses. By discouraging repercussion, it allows people to take advantage of others and ultimately promotes offenses.

I've done it once, can't say I;m proud of it but yeah.

Well here's how it goes:
Spoiler:
So this guy in my class he kept dissing me for the way I looked and saying these bad things about me(he was fat and short but he said he didn't care but I [proved him wrong when he wrote he was average weight on an anonymous survey), then he got all my friends to take in what he said and no one wanted to hang out with me because of what he said. So in short he screwed up my social life, I told the teacher and he just said ignore him(**** when does that help). So I tried to look back at everything they taught us about these situations and all they did tell us were ignore them and tell a teacher, not helping.

So I took matters into my own hands, it wasn't the best thing to do, but keep in mind I was 8(not really a reasonable excuse). So what I did was throw him through a window.

god why are so many people in this thread such fluffy pussies... if you're not gonna poke back, you gonna be blind first! there are people out there who like to hurt others just for the fun of it. luckily they are few in number, but enough to take effect on EVERYONE. always has been, probably always will be. now if someone doesn't go ahead there and kick the hail out of them, then they'll go around making the world blind person by person.

revenge is healthy. violence is natural. not neccesary, but a world where everyone lives in harmony is far too eutopian and NOT GOING TO HAPPEN...

i do everything i can to make sure i am happy and unoppressed. revenge is the sweetest joy next to getting... never mind.
