I hated it when I heard they took that slot out, that's why I didn't buy a dsi, aslo, what is the point of having a camera on it??

If you have such a problem, just keep using the original DS or the Lite. I think it's kinda of cool that the DSi can take pictures. I don't always have my camera with me, but I usually always have my DS, so that would be handy for me. For those who like to migrate, then just stick to the older models. Problem solved.

Geez, I don't see what complaining about it is going to solve. Just use a DSlite or earlier. Seriously, if you didn't do GameStop's "Trade in an old DS get $## off a DSi!" deal, then you'd be fine, as long as you had an earlier model, which, if you got Diamond/Pearl anywhere before April '09, then I don't see the problem. Plus, you can get old DS Origins off of eBay for extremely low prices. :|

Moved to Other Games because it seems to be more of a console thread than GBA related. :(

seriously dont get why people complain so much about dsi when you want to do something the dsi cant, use the dslite simple as that. If you traded in your ds lite instead of having both then theres no reason to migrate because your giving way the only way to get your pokemon and if you would do that they must be weak beause you dont care about having a way to play it

Geez, you people complain about everything way too much. >.> If you have problems with the lack of a GBA Slot, then don't buy one. Just keep the old one. I think the DSi is way cooler, I mean, it has a camera, a web browser, aming others.

The line of Nintendo's handhelds has to drop older features sooner or later, otherwise the DSi would have to account for three or four different linking protocols, cartrage types, etc.

Once the GBA was released, you could no longer link with GB(C) games.
Once the DS was released, you could no longer link with GBA games. Playing GB(C) games was completely deprecated.
Now the DSi is released, support for GBA games is gone altogether.

I'm sure there will be an uproar of some kind when in a future handheld system, DS cartrage support will be dropped completely as well. The upside is that you can use emulators and such to play older games on newer handhelds. I have Lameboy for the DS which allows me to play Silver version again without having to buy the GBA. I'm sure that the lack of the GBA slot on the DSi will prompt the Lameboy developers to add support for the GBA. Until then, just stick with the DSLite. ;)

Well, this is a little obvious...

The most likely reason they took out the GBA slot was to save space.
Since they packed it full of pointless things like the SD slot and more technologies, there is no real room for it.
It would make the hand held a lot bigger.

Personally, I think the DSi is a waste of money.

Uhuh.
I don't disagree with them taking out the GBA slot, they needed to for all the new features.

I, however, will probably never get one. When my DS Lite breaks, I'll buy a new DS Lite, and not a DSi, because I value the GBA slot.

Well, when my original DS started to lose it's charge, I had the choice of a DSi or a DSlite.
Now, I own a flashcard, and at the time I didn't know that there were ones that works on the DSi.
But besides that, I also valued the GBA slot. I don't know what it is, but lately I've been playing old games, and they seem pretty fun.
So, I went for the DSlite.

Now I'm not saying that the DSi sucks.
Hell, it's even a little fun.
But some of the features you can achieve on a flashcard.
- Internet Access
- Homebrew Games

The camera to me was a little pointless. Why bother to put a camera on something, when it's very low quality.
The DSlite does enough for me, and I didn't really need the camera, so it was the best choice.

The DSi doesn't suck. It's just about your preferences.
If you want a GBA slot, go for the DSlite.
If you want a camera and DSiWare, go for the DSi.

The DSi is cool and all, but I don't think I would get one. My DS Lite is broken, but I would probably but a new one than a DSi, because I still frequently use my GBA slot. If I bought a DSi, then I would still be stuck with my DS Lite, as I use my SP specifically for my Gameboy Color games -coughsilvercough-.

If there is one reason I would get a DSi instead of another DS Lite for Christmas is if I don't get a Camera by then. But it's not like I take pictures very often anyways, sooo.. Not eo mention the quality.

Oh. And the internet, but really... when will there be a time when I can go onto the internet with my DSi when I don't have my Laptop? 9/10 I'm probably in a place where I can't access the internet anyways.

DSi
Pros:
Camera
DsiWare
Internet Access
Smaller than DS Lite
Lighter than DS Lite
Changing Screen Brightness is easier

Cons:
Camera is low quality
No GBA slot
Action Replay doesn't work on it
Battery lasts for only 2-3 hours on highest screen brightness

Results:
Pros: 6
Cons: 4
That is a pro, as far as I am concerned.
