"You fancy him"
"You like her"

People bully other people at my school about "Fancying People", but why is it an insult.

I find it stupid.

What do you think

Bullying other people for "fancying" someone just means that that bully is immature and needs to grow up. Just because they don't like someone, doesn't mean anything. People have different tastes. People fall in love with other people for different reasons.

It's be funny if the two people being bullied hooked up just to spite the bully. Who's the loner now, right?

Anyways, I think it's foolish. Like who you want to like, no one should stop you from LOVE <3

I completely agree with Kura.

That kind of behaviour is infantile and immature. Another example of things that young people tease eachother about is what time they go to bed- 'Ha ha, your mom makes you go to bed at 7pm.'

Its like wtf? I go to bed at that time because I am tired, and why the hell does sleeping make you a pathetic person and not worth being friends with??

People often say 'You fancy him' when that him is the same gender as the person they are saying it too- it then spills over into indirect homophobia, which is just as pathetic.

People should love whoever they want without having to take criticism from their peers.

Well, I think it's stupid to bully people for liking other people.
I was bullied and didn't want to fall the love with a certain someone, fearing that the bullies would turn and pick on her as well if they found out.
I was once told 'If you truly love him / her and know that they may get hurt deeply, one would let them go'

However, I don't like being in love.
To a degree I'm in the same boat, despite the fact my mum wants me to get a girlfriend and 'knock her up' and make her a grandmother.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :p

You want to be friends or just want to chat? feel free to PM / VM me.

Well, most of the time, somebody says that someone fancies someone either, who they don't like, or who wont let the victim hear the end of it, usually to induce embarrassment. If a person does actually "fancy" someone, then it is also most commonly used for inflicting an embarrassing and awkward situation on the victim. Sometimes, if someone does fancy anotehr epson though, and someone says "You fancy him/her," the it is sometimes so that the victim wont have a "chance" with the person they fancy.

This is one of the lowest forms of bullying, simply because it's mindless and immature.
If somebody "fancies" or "likes" someone, then leave them too it. You can guarantee the bully "fancies" or "likes" or is "fond of" or whatever you want to call it, of someone aswell.

"Fancying someone" (infatuation) is just as pointless, imo.
I would ignore them, or for those persistent ones I'd give them a reply that they can't really retaliate to. I'd probably just admit it and then after they have finished loling amongst themselves about the admittance, they have nothing.
Don't get angry or defensive because it would probably just make it worse.

I think it's just really if you find someone cute or not :p

If it were much of anything else, people would actually care. lololol

If you seriously take offense to that statement, you're quite easily shaken. It's quite a low and immature form of bullying. Seems like the people at your school aren't very creative, hmm?

It's because people at school believe in stupid social hierachies and if you dare find someone attractive who happens to be in a different 'league', then they find it hilarious. No idea why. o_o;

Then don't tell anyone you like the person? Telling one will lead to everyone knowing and therefore that "bullying" will occur. Or at least this is why I decided not to tell anyone else IRL that I thought someone was hot. XD

I'd say it's because about 80% of people in your age group (12 - 14) are jerks. It's probably the hormones or something. I remember junior high being one of the worst times of my life (that was compounded by other things, but it didn't help that most of the kids were jerks). If you don't believe me, just play an online game. The things some of these kids say are just horrible.

I think love (or romance, at the very least) is a great thing, and I say this despite my forays into it. A lot of people say that at that age, you're too confused by your hormones to understand the difference between "love" and "lust," if you will. To that, I'd respond first by citing the subjectivity of the term "love," and then by saying that a good 90% of adults don't seem to understand the difference themselves (most marriages these days aren't happy, and many end in divorce).

Honestly, all that doesn't even matter anyway. If you think you like someone, go for it. The kind of people that would make belittle you for something like that aren't the people you really want as friends, I'd say. As it turns out, there are more important things than your reputation at school.

Sorry if that seemed a bit disjointed; I'm a bit distracted today.

I agree with this. My advice is just to not let the fact that you like someone be very apparent.
Keep it as less noticeable as possible.

I'd say it's because about 80% of people in your age group (12 - 14) are jerks and immature with these sort of things. It's the hormones way they saw some other cool idiotic famous kids do things and they decide to follow it and try and be cool. If you don't believe me, just play an online game. The things some of these kids say are just horrible.

I think love is a great thing. But people should figure out if they are confused and if they know the difference between love and lust before taking it any further.

As it turns out, there are more important things than your reputation at school, and I really mean this.
Moreover, after the people who are around you reach the age of 15 or so, these immature views start vanishing anyways, and they'll forget about all these bullying in entirety, so it's better if you ignore them.
^ I edited it out to fit to my opinion. ^
