How old is the laptop? What's the model? OS installed? How long have you been experiencing the problem? What's the number of average running processes? And what about the free RAM available? Also, did you do a complete system scan, e.g. with Spybot Search and Destroy?

I've done a quick research on Google, and it seems the freezing is a common problem. But, anyway, does the menu bar only freeze? Does it happen randomly, and even if you're doing nothing? Oh, and what scanner(s) did you use? You got the latest updates, isn't it?

EDIT: If you don't know what the OS is, you can open a program such as Paint or Notepad and load the About dialog from the Help menu.
