NOIDONTWANTYOUTOSELLMETHINGS!!1!1

We all get them.
Those annoying people who ring us up and try to sell us something.
When I was living at my parents before I moved to University, I use to get so angry at them so quickly.

I am not racist, but I couldn't understand most of them because their original accent was too strong.
It is hard to tell someone no, when they don't even understand what you are saying, never mind what they are trying to sell you.

Have you people had any experiences with those annoying people.

We have caller id, so I don't pick up the phone when I see unknown name, unknown number. However there is the odd time I see long distance numbers also associated with advertising. If I notice that the same person has been calling more than once (especially in a day), I pick up and hang up the phone immediately.

There was a good list of things to say when telemarketers phone, here are two of them:

Telemarketer: Hi mr smith, did you want to hear about our new product. (basically advertising here)

You: *cut them off* No I am busy having supper, but if you leave me your home phone number, I'd be glad to return your phone call.

T: I'm sorry sir, I am not allowed to give my home phone number.

Y: Then you know how I feel...

If it is a carpet stain remover, after their spiel, ask the following:

You: Okay, so can you guys get rid of human blood?

You: How about goat blood?

Lol!
Lots of amusing stories.
Mine is:

This Indian guy rang up and said:
"Hello. Is Mr. Lucas in?"
"Speaking..."
"Hi, would you be interested in buying some Windows."
"OMG, yes. I have recently had mine stolen."
"Really?!"
"No, Bye."
*SLAM*

Haha.
Bit harsh I know.

I personally don't mind phone salespeople - they're just trying to make a living, after all. We don't get very many of them, and when we do I usually just say something like "thank you but no thank you" and they don't call back.

But if you do have some ingrained hatred for them, you'll probably find this funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5z4Vs26-TI

I wish I had the wit to say something amusing and then slam the phone down. D: But alas, I have to settle for cutting them off, or passing the phone to my mum so that she can shout at them. <3

Ok, here is my amusing story.

'Hi, is this Mrs. Fletcher?'
'No, this her son. Would you like to leave a message?'
'No, I'll just ask you. Do you to buy loft insulation?'
'No, we have a bedroom in our loft.'
'Ok, how about cavity-wall-'
'Got.'
'Carpets?'
'YES! WE RESENTALLY HAD OUR CARPETS STOLEN!!!11!!1'
'Really?'
'Yes, Mr. Carpet fairy stole them.'
'Oh you poor people. Carpets are £9 per square metre-'
'Ha, not really!'

For some reason, I thought this thread was about Are You Being Served?...

I used to screw with all the telemarketers and army recruiters who called, but then they got smart and started using machines. I used to do this drill sergeant spiel.

We don't have those annoying people in our country, but it seems to me that it's their only way of advertising products(which in fact are mostly no good at all).

If ever there's someone like that in our phone, I'll scream.

There was once a guy with a strange Indian accent called, but my best friend was beside me, so he was laughing histerically on his accent and it was so loud, he scared the caller off and before I could say anything, the caller hung up. =.="

I don't answer unknown calls by the way.
Who knows, the caller might be from Mars
