My mom tried to move the iTunes from the crappy house computer to her laptop, but none of the songs are in the library on either computer now. Fail. I'm downloading iTunes to my laptop right now, but I'd like to know if there's a way I could get the songs that are already on my iPod into the new library.

Also keep in mind, I am very, very slow with this stuff. Try to explain it in a way I can understand, and be patient with me, because I'm sure I'll have more stupid questions.

If you purchased the songs, authorize the computer to play the songs purchased on your old account, connect the iPod and transfer purchases from iPod (found under the file menu). If you didn't puchase a song and would like to transfer, typically, you'll need a third party software to do it for you, such as iPod to Computer Transfer from CopyToy (which is what I use).

iPod to Computer Transfer from CopyToy
...What is that?

And you mentioned purchased songs, so what about songs from CDs? I mean, those wouldn't be hard to get back, but just for efficiency, would it add those in too? Or will I have to have to re-do them? Like I said, not a problem, but I really just want to get this over with. I have homework...but this is wracking my brain like crazy, therefore, it comes first.

Edit; how do you authorise the computer to play songs from the old account? The old account being my iPod, though. There technically isn't an old account anymore, because the other computers don't have any songs on them.

iPod to Computer Transfer of course transfers content from your iPod to the computer, as the title said. You'll have to buy the extended version to transfer more songs than the given, but I have a key that is authorized to be redistributed and I can give you that to activate it if you choose to do so. It transfers music, movies, television shows, and I pictures as well, I believe. Oh! Podcasts and... well, everything (except for aps :(). Songs on CDs you can easily import it when you put it into your disk drive as, since you're reinstalling it, when you put it in it should ask you if you would like to transfer the songs from the CD to the computer.

You can also do it all manually. But that renames all of the songs and movies to random characters that mean something on the iPod than to iTunes.

If you email iTunes, they normally also allow you to redownload all of your purchases and are very understanding.

Bah, I don't see a menu option anyway. I guess you could do that...however, as usual, I have no idea how you can do that. I do have videos on the iPod (mainly for the song. I had to get versions that were either marked clean or unmarked, so I got stuck with a few videos) so having those transferred over would be nice. But I guess I can do what you're suggesting if you could send me that.

Oh! You see that option after you authorize the computer, and I just now saw the edit you put. It only works if you actually purchased the song, video, etc. through iTunes with your Apple ID.

Go to Store > Authorize Computer (in the menu bar)
Input your Apple ID and password.

Then click on your iPod in iTunes and File > Transfer Purchases

Ughhh. Now I have to make an ID. Oh well. I guess that's the simplest step in this process. I'll do that first, then.

Edit; No. I am NOT waiting on my mom to get here late at night to get her freaking credit card crap. Do I HAVE to put that in? That's ridiculous.
