Wooooooooooooooo

Today I did 60 more Omanyte fossil resets and the shiny appeared at 3,734 fossils.

This is my 10 full odds hunt shiny and my 2nd fossil reset shiny in Pokemon Y. Only about 3,000 more fossils then Aerodactyl. I plan to fossil reset for Kabuto next but probably not for while, then will probably masuda for the evolutions in the future.

After not posting anything for a while now. I have pretty much given up on ever getting a shiny Teddiursa through FS encounters and switched to hatching for shiny Caterpie which I managed to get after about 120 eggs. I was half asleep when it hatched and thought I was hallucinating. After that I got Pokémon Moon (FINALLY) and mid play through I found a shiny Flechinder. I was scared to death when I threw my ultra ball at it. After I completed the game I hunted for Whiscash and forgot to keep track of the SOS encounters (which I’m pretty sure were in the triple digit range) but still managed to catch it after it used rest a billion times. Then I moved on to Magby who I caught after 20 SOS encounters (I count by the number of successful calls including the shiny’s call). It’s freaking adorable! Next on the list is going to be a grass type. No idea which though.

[P.S.] Sorry about the lack of photo proof. I’ll try to upload it later.

Shiny Pokemon I have caught: Rapidash (SS), Linoone (E), Spinda (E), Bibarel (Pt), Weedle (FR), Garbodor (X), Chansey(x5) (X), Audino(x2) (X), Flechinder (Mn), Whiscash (Mn), Magby (Mn), Caterpie (X)

8824 Challenger's Cave encounters

I'm more than 10% of the way to a shiny Sableye!! Or, at least I would be, if I hadn't verified that the first 8824 encounters were non-shiny-Sableye entities...probability is weird, "lol!" Based on the knowledge that I've already seen 8824 Pokémon in Challenger's Cave, I'm expected to get my shiny Sableye in...

*counts on fingers*

...81,920 more encounters!! :laugh-squinted: Talk about shifting goalposts, "lol!"

*watches team of football players run onto field, lift the goalpost, and carry it away*

:pink_laugh:

Spoiler:
Managed to get a shiny Chikorita through MM when I wasn't going for it, its now a competitive Meganium I love the change to the autumnal colours and I feel like it was a good way of waving out the winter months
Sweet, congrats!! "lol" I never thought of hunting like that, but I guess it really does put you in the mood of the season you're hunting in! I usually try to align my hunts with the seasons (searching for snow Pokémon in the winter, surfing near beaches for Frillish in the summer, etc.), but it looks like you've found a way to "wave" (surf's up, yo! ) out the winter!!

On the 6th I continued to horde hunt for Smoochum.
I got Vanillite #2 in 519 hordes and evolved to Vanillish. I also got Cubchoo #3 in 16 hordes. On the 7th I got Cubchoo #4 in 204 hordes.

On the 9th I got Vanillite #3 in 66 hordes and evolved to Vanilluxe. Then Vanillite #4 in 68 hordes.

Some updates of my current ongoing hunts
Omanyte fossil resets: 3570 (I started this hunt in Nov)
Sentret RE’s: 2792
Nidoran Masuda: 1755 (I started this hunt in Sept)
I continued horde hunting for Smoochum and found my 5th shiny Cubchoo. It was almost my second fail as well as I got down to the final 2 Pokemon and accidentally clicked a blank spot. It was a 50/50 chance it wouldn’t knock out the shiny and luck was on my side.
It was 187 hordes.

I’ve been keeping track of the Smoochum hordes and so far I have 8 shinies with 153 Smoochum hordes seen. This ends a long drought as well since my last shiny was on the 9th.

Congrats on all the new shinies - especially Omanyte!!! Fossils are an awesome way to get into SR hunts, and they're especially cool since like no one ever has shiny fossils, haha. You picked an awesome hunt and I hope you get many more shiny fossils!!!

Have you started on the Kabuto hunt?

I used the Shiny Gen 1 Ditto trick using the Shiny Gyardos so I can breed for some Shinys. Using said Shiny Ditto and a regular female Venomoth in Crystal I got:

Shiny Female Venomoth (Natalie) - Came after 62 eggs. I really like the blue eyes on this Shiny. It is very noticeable and looks great in Gen 2. She will be evolved into Venomoth and eventually sent to Ultra Sun. All VC shinys gets their Hidden Ability so this Pokemon will eventually have the Wonder Skin ability. Venomoth is my favourite Bug Pokemon so I am very pleased to finally get a Shiny one.
Nice!! The Venonat line has some really cool Pokémon, and I've always thought that Venonat had some of the coolest shiny colors. Congrats on getting your favorite of another type!

Do you have more GenII egg hunts planned, or are you going to go on a mini-Quest to get more of your favorite shinies from different types? That actually sounds like a radically-awesome personal quest idea, haha! Pick your favorite Pokémon from each type, and then find it shiny! :happy2:

Congrats on the new shinies, Leòmhann! Awesome going on the Fletchinder - I've never gotten a shiny during one of my playthroughs, but I always thought it would be super cool! I'm used to focusing on the story first and then shiny hunting post-Elite Four with like 400 Ultra Balls, Dusk Balls, and Heal Balls, "lol!" Finding shinies in the middle of exploring a new region must be really thrilling!! I'd be terrified too, though, especially since you can't afford that many Balls early on and your Pokémon are still in danger of fainting! :disbelief:

And in the process of writing this post, I've managed a few more Challenger's Cave encounters!! This brings my shiny Sableye ever closer, glistening stars emanating from the elusive Ghost with each step it treads away from its distant future home towards the present, which is its future present home!!! (You see, its future home is, at the present, its present future home, but not its present home, since its present home is its future home, at least until the future, when its future home will become its present home and the present will become its present home, which is, for now, its future home...right? :pink_confused:)

I've managed to get my expected encounters until Sableye shines (EEUSS) down from the daunting 81,920 all the way down to...

*drumroll*

...81,920!! :cheeky:

"lol" carry on, hunters!! May we continue to revel in the days ahead in celebration of many shinies!

I also managed to get a shiny Munna not long after my Chikorita which now is a competitive Musharna. I'm not sure if I like the fast change in the shiny colouration from Munna being yellow to Musharna being a strange shade of a pinkish purple, but it is still a shiny none the less.

I haven’t posted in awhile because I’m currently in my worst drought ever.

Just to give an idea I passed my longest ever horde hunt shiny in Frost Cavern recently. My record was 2,776. I’m currently at 2,843 with 303 Smoochum hordes seen.

Then Nidoran is up to 2,210 eggs hatched. Surpassing my longest masuda method at 887.

Ugh

Oh and Sentret is up to 5,524. It surpassed my longest re hunt at 4,661.

I have not started fossil resetting for Kabuto as I really want to finish at least one of these hunts before.

Hi ^.^ I'm not active here, although I want to be, but I wanted to start posting my shinies just for fun I guess. Not meaning to brag but I have a lot in ORAS, Y, and Moon (RIP Lost Save File), although with random shinies in other games. I have 81 overall although I may have mis-counted. Anyways last night I really wanted to continue some of my hunts live. Sadly I couldn't get a good setup to work and of course that's when I get my first ever full odds SR Hunt: Shiny Totodile in SS! I'm really happy about it and he's so cute. I'm planning on maybe doing a full shiny playthrough of the game with him as my starter, but we'll see. I don't know who I want me next team member to be. I'm either going to hunt on whatever the route after Cherrygrove City is for either Weedle/Kakuna, Caterpie/Metapod, Hoothoot (I think), Spinarak, and Rattata (If he shows up there at night I can't remember >.<) Or for Mareep on the oute after Violet City. Anyways sorry this was so long! Now hunting for Charmander in Firered and horde hunting for Magnemite/Voltorb in ORAS. Thanks!

My latest Shiny on my Crystal game is:

Sam the Shiny Totodile Hatched after about 90 eggs using the Shiny Ditto for one of the parents. Totodile is a very nice Shiny and just about my favourite Johto Starter. I plan to send him to my Ultra Sun as a Totodile so he can be trained there. As he is a virtual console Shiny he has the Hidden Ability Sheer Force.

I plan to hatch a Shiny Chikorita on Crystal next as it is another starter I like.

Ultra Sun - Natalie

Charles the Male Frillish - Caught in an SOS chain of around 50. He has a Mild Nature and the Water Absorb Ability and is now evolved into Jellicent. Male Jellicent has a very nice Shiny which is a bright green. I prefer Jellicent's female form so will be hunting again for Frillish hoping I get a female one.

Yesterday my longest horde hunt ended, at 3,162 hordes shiny Vanillite #5 appeared.

I'm hunting for Smoochum, my previous record for horde hunting was 2,776 hordes for a Weepinbell.

Today I found a 4th shiny Klefki in friend safari at 1,551 encounters looking for a Metang.

My masuda method for Nidoran is at 2300 eggs, I started fossil resetting for Kabuto as well. And I'm random encounter hunting for Weedle in Santalune Forest.

Ah I'm so excited! After a really long drought that included: horde hunting for Spinda for St. Patrick's Day, horde hunting for Slugma/Grimer, SRing for Charmander, and Dexnaving for Ponyta, I FINALLY got a shiny Weedle! I was full odds hunting in SS to continue my shiny playthrough. Now I have Weedle (Soon to bee Beedrill) and Totodile and I'm so happy ^.^ I'm going to continue my hunts for Charmander and for Ponyta, along with my next shiny for my playthrough.

Randomly decided to grab my SP and boot-up LeafGreen before getting out of bed this morning. I was planning to have 100 encounters before getting up and was pleased to find this in under 50:

Shiny Furret is the cutest, so I chucked my Master Ball to be safe (as my SP has a nasty habit of randomly shutting-off sometimes). I named her Uno because Sentret was the first Pokémon I ever caught back when I started playing in 2000, but I'm thinking about changing it to Noa.

I just finished EV-training her (sadly not finding any additional Shinies in the process). Now I'm thinking about restarting HeartGold or SoulSilver and transferring her to follow me around.

I have had an exceptionally lucky couple of hours Shiny Hunting.

Whilst levelling up Sylvan my Shiny Sylveon with Cute Charm I ran into Emerald the Shiny Female Pelipper in Poni Grove. She has an Impish Nature and completely random Shinys are always nice.

Levelled up I headed off to Wela Volcano Park and after 123 SOS Calls with Shiny Charm I found:

Risky the Shiny Female Salandit- My reaction was:

Wild Salandit appears. It has a White Body.
'Is that a Female...It is. It is.'

I KOed the non Shiny, switched to Lilligant to put the Shiny to sleep. Threw a Timer Ball (Which goes well with Shiny Salazzle) and caught.

Risky has a Mild Nature with perfect IVs in Attack, Special Attack, Speed and Special Defence and the Corrosion ability. So it will be a Salazzle that hits very hard but cannot take a hit whatsoever. Very fitting considering her 'Somewhat Vain' characteristic.

Very pleased to get this very nice Shiny on the first try. Even with the Cute Charm the chance of a Male Shiny Salandit is high.

Hello everyone and Congrats on new shinies.
Sorry for the long hiatus, but I still hunt from time to time.
So here is my update

Spoiler:
The story behind this one: well, i was originally hunting for anorith but decided to switch to another hunt after cleaning my 3ds and ds lite, I went back to route 101 and started hunting for poochyena with the dexnav, i got everything prepared with my synchro adamant ralts and max repels, fainted it and left it in the first spot so that the ability was kept active and my next pokemon ready to KO non shiny pokemon, i was in a good chain when suddenly breaks because of a wild pokemon even with max repel active. I forgot max repel only works if the first pokemon in the party is of a higher level than the wild pokemon, even if it is fainted, so had to reset and activate the white flute, my ralts is level 3 btw, so now pokemon are now to appear at level 1 mostly, max 2. Then again I made a good chain, left my 3ds running while checking some stuff and when I noticed the red flashing light of running out of power, tried to close it to safe the last amount of energy, but it was to late, so had to recharge it to full power again, update, and then start from my last save point. Fortunately I had everything set up so I start the dexnav search, nothing..., move around for a patch of grass to move, It appears and I go in to start the chain, and guess what, the game turned off again... Lol just kidding, on this first patch it appeared this handsome poochyena :), easy catch on first premier ball, named it custos "latin for guardian", sleep talk egg move, level 1 because of white flute, quirky nature (the synchro failed), and with the quick feet ability.

I'm planning to use him for my adventure in Omega Ruby.

Well, that's it for now, see you around and happy hunting.

Hey everyone!

Im new posting here and new to shiny hunting in general. I have been seeming to have some trouble in ORAS. I started a new game and decided to start shiny hunting before the first gym (Im playing through at the same time as someone who is completely new to Pokmon so I want to stay with them so I am killing time by shiny hunting). I am using the dexnav and I found a shiny Zigzagoon on my 100th encounter, so I figured it wouldnt take too long to get another. Im currently hunting Whismur and am nearing 900 encounters and am wondering if I am doing something wrong or if anyone has some insight into something that could make this make a little more sense.

Thanks and I hope to post on this forum in the future with the shinies I eventually get!

Shiny odds for Dexnav without shiny charm is 1/512. Ive done over 100 dexnav hunts without shiny charm. Most appear before 512. Ive had 3 go over 1,000.

I usually start each hunt with a search level of 1, I heard a search level of 999 makes odds lower. I dont know if thats true. One of my early shinies, Heracross, appeared with a search level of 7.

Personally, I would just say it's whatever you feel is best for you. I never had much luck with Dexnav, so I've always used hordes for hunting. It's all up to personally preference.
