Pokemon is meant to be a turned-based RPG that gives you time to think about your moves and choices during battle rather than expecting you to be able to win and keep up with the AI using a sword/spear/magic/etc.

There is a lot more strategy in Pokemon than you know. Oh sure, fire beats grass, who couldn't of guessed that, but what if said grass pokemon poisoned and defeated said fire pokemon. It's a lot more than simple type > type, I'll tell you that much.

Pokemon has been going for 11 years now, if it had stopped being intresting why is it continuing to be sold?
In My Most Humble Opinion, if they ever make a game like dissida or whatever, i wont buy it.

Hey Seth!! Long time no see!!!

Anyway, Seth is right...!
There are more strategies then we all know and that's what makes pokemon a great RPG and I don't think Nintendo will ever change that..!

I just think that after... let me see... only about the original gaming series... there's been like 15 different versions... each of them features the same game mode... If nintendo thinks thats going to work for another 15 years I don't think pokemon games will live long...

Other games like the ones of the dungeons are cool... because they're different... Don't tell me u wouldn't like to play a game similar to the anime... Where you could evade attacks more easily and not limit your gameplay to the 4 allowed techniques... but combine them as in the anime and perform creative attacks... Something like that could be interesting...

I just think... If Final Fantasy evolved to present a better product to a more exigent market, then why shouldn't pokemon try the same thing?
LOL @ your strategy comment. Smogonites would rip you to shreds.

Anyways, I like turn based strategy and am at least happy that Pokemon stays true to that.

Pokemon has become a great RPG ever since Green Version came alive in Japan because of its creative way of making players having and making their own strageties as like what Seth said earlier...

Not quite, just as the original game, earth techniques wont have an effect in flying pokemon... So... Diglett would have to use ancient powers and rock blasts to take out a flying pokemon....

Yes, but it is also very limited... and luck plays an important part... It doesnt matter if you have a level 30 pikachu fighting a level 50 gyarados... If Pikachu's thunder hits the gyarados... it will finish the battle immediately... Also... Alakazam and Machamp... The last one may have the strongest attack in all the gaming series... But Alakazam has the best SP. ATTACK and an amazing Speed... With a single Phychic technique, Machamp will faint. At the end, everything has to do with elemental weaknesses, and who has in their team more legendary pokemon... and the ability to strike an attack with high power but low accuracy... (just like... thunder, fire blast, blizzard, etc... etc... etc...)

That'll be awful...!

I was thinking lately, each time a new version comes, the game gets better and better, that's what I've said earlier right?
But what if, what IF they make a new battle system...?
It'll be chaos for the franchise!!!
You know why?
What if a Diglett and a Pidgey fight in the field(like what Wings Won't Cry said earier)?Diglett won't even have a chance in winning against a Flying Type like Pidgey even how strong Diglett is...!

Even so, Pidgey is not stupid enough to get hit by those attacks!. He'll just be away from diglett and use Gust attacks, unless diglett uses dig attack and the fight will never end..!XD

I don't know man, perhaps a targeting tool to make attacks easier... and for real... several of the users that have been posting in this thread have mention the strategy present in pkmn games as one of the most important part of the series... Why would somebody use a diglett to fight a pidgey?... that doesn't seem strategical to me...

A trainer who uses his Diglett to fight a Pidgey is pretty stupid...!
And yeah, strageties are one of the most important in the game...!

Even if there was a pokemon fighting game, if they named it dissidia somone will be getting sued. Plus its an rpg its supossed to be the way it is, if you dont like pokemon and you hate the doing the same thing over and over, THEN PLAY A DIFFERENT GAME. Its as simple as that :) You could be doing something more important withyour time right now but your sitting at the computer, debating and argueing over the internet.
