starter? I for some reason can never choose between this gens starters! i will literaly spend hours or even days tryin to pick one, then after i start the game i stop and restart cuz i dont know if i made the right choice.

Every other gen has been fairly simple for me:
1st = charmander no doubt unless i wanted to try someone else for a change
2nd = totodile pretthy much always, unless again wanted to try the others for a bit
3rd = Torchic or treeko always, rarely mudkip and i still nearly always went treeko
4th = ??????????????? ahhhhhhhhhhhhh i cant choose!!!

so does anyone else have a poke pal road block when it comes to your starter in pearl/diamond/platinum?

Upon reaching the final form, Chimchar is probably the coolest looking out of all the three. I'd pick it for that reason alone.

I always choose the Fire starter. Chimchar is great for the first few gyms! Just evolve him and Mach Punch works great on Roark. :p

I chose Piplup once, but I got bored.

Chimcar. I'm a fire type trainer. It's who I used like, all the time.

I have to say, Chimchar/Monferno/Infernape is what I believe the second most overused pokemon ever created (besides Lucario). All the grass type starters generally suck by comparison, so I always go with water.

Go with Torterra cause its Under-Rated.You will always have fun with Under Rated pokes (and besides the Earth advantage is awesome)

Ha ha, agreed.:) Anyways, Piplup is easily the best starter. Empoleon owns every gym and the E4.

I think these starters are pretty well balanced in terms of type advantage @ gyms. That might be what makes it so hard to pick. I haven't tried turtwig yet, but I've only done two play-throughs. Next time I restart I'll definitely go turtwig.

Accually all of the starters can do that

Infernape:Close Combat + Fire Move

Torterra:Earthquake (thats all it needs <3)

Empoleon:Ice beam + water move

But Empoleon is the only starter that needs to use a TM.The other 2 can learn it there's naturally

lol piplup IS easily the best starter and yes i have gone through the game with all 3 of them my empoleon can 1 hit ko infernape and torterra with 1 move drill peck.

not to mentioned that if you give it a chople berry, it is invincible to infernape later on.

And Torterra can 1HKO both with a STAB Super effective Earthquake. Plus Empoleons stats are just plain bad. The only one worse than it on my Plat team is Rotom.

Anyways, If I were to do more run through's, I'd always pick Turtwig. It's a freaking beast of a starter.

1st Generation - Charmander
  • Bulbasaur - Despite it's second attribute, I don't really have a grass types on my team unless they are HM Slaves
  • Squirtle - If I'm in the mood for a change, I'll choose Squirtle instead of Charmander. Blastoise is a strong Pokemon, but I'd choose Charmander over Squirtle any day.
  • Charmander - A flying, fire-breathing dragon. What's not to love?
2nd Generation - Cyndaquil
  • Chikorita - I don't know why I have such a disklike for Grass types, but I really, really don't like Chikorita.
  • Totodile - Also a strong Pokemon. I used him in Pokemon Colleseum, and so there is a slight love for this Ferocious beast, but Typhlosion is just so awesome.
  • Cyndaquil - I <3 Quilava for some reason, and it takes a while before I let it evolve, but I love fire-types to death.
3rd Generation - Mudkip
  • Treeko - I think by this point you understand.
  • Torchic - I hate Torchic. Combusken and Blaziken are alright, but that stupid Chicken with no arms just grates on my nerves.
  • Mudkip - Swampert is right up in my top three picks for starter. I love how it is Water, but not weak to Electricity due to it's Ground type. And it can hit almost any Pokemon on the field with its Earthquake-Surf combo.
4th Generation - Piplup
  • Turtwig - Besides Bulbasaur, this is the only other Grass type starter that I would even consider choosing. I love how Torterra looks like his own island and picturing him using Earthquake makes me smile. (I know, I'm wierd)
  • Chimchar - For absolutely no reason at all I can't stand Chimchar. Maybe it's because it's a Fire/Fighting type, and I hated Torchic, so it's causing me to hate this little monkey. I think Nintendo is really shirking on their Fire starters.
  • Piplup - It's a freaking penguin. And it's wearing a Tuxedo when it's fully evolved. What's not to like?

Wow. Very long post.... :cer_giggle:
