i'm thinking about getting the Japanese version of Heartgold instead of waiting for the eventual English release because a) I'm currently in Korea and don't feel want to wait an entire year until I can get my hands on it, b) it'd be good practice since I study Japanese and c) I get free shipping, so I save $6 by buying it in Korea.

My only question is, is the game worth paying $60 for? And will the English version come with the poke walker? To be honest, that's one of the reasons I'm so excited about this version. Or should I just wait for the English release?

Just wait. It kinda takes the fun away from the game if you can't understand it. You could just get an Acekard 2i. I'm currently translating HeartGold and SoulSilver to english (every single detail) and I'm getting pretty far. If you use a flashcard, you can use the translation

I study Japanese, so I can most likely understand it. Also, I don't really want a bootleg version of the game, as I really want the pokewalker.

The game is in whole hiragana, so for you it's definitely worth it.

I'll be waiting on that. :]

And I just get an Acekard. Cheaper and you can probably find a poke walker on ebay.

Normally I would say wait until its available in your own country, but if you're studying how the japanese language anyway, then yeah, it could be worth it.

It depends on what you want... If you know some Japanese and REALLY want it, then get it... If you think you have the patience to wait, then wait...

I got the game in Japanese. Well I got HG, and I will get SS around Thanksgiving, or a week before that. I study Japanese,, But I don't study Katakana as of yet, I study Hiragana..still a beginner of the language so I know some of what they say. and It is good practice as well, and if you do know what they say, and understand the storyline well enough, I say get it! then wait the whole yet, it likey have the pokewalker but you might not know for sure for the ENG version.

Japanese version worth it?

Not really.

The only time I wish I had a Japanese version of the game is when an event goes over Nintendo WFC and I could get it a little earlier than the US.

Other than that, no. Not much on staring at funny characters I can't understand. I can even handle the 6 month gap between release dates; it gives me plenty of time to breed a team and make other various preparations. Besides, I know what would happen if I did buy a Japanese game: as soon as the english version comes out, I'd buy both english versions, and then the Japanese version will never see the light of day again. Waste of money IMO.

But I'm glad that some people import because, by the time the game comes out in the US, I already know a lot about it and whether I'm going to buy it or not.

In fact even I would sincerely exclude this.

Hey, if you think you can understand it, and you can't wait for the English release, go ahead. But if you wouldn't be able to understand it, wait.

I'd wait. I can't understand Japanese myself but I know that I'd wait. It only is supposed to cost £35 in ENgland with the Pokewalker. It is worth the wait.

Hey, if you're already learning Japanese, I'd go for it. It's a fun game, and if you get stuck, there's plenty of us that have beaten it that will gladly help you. I don't understand a lick of Japanese, but I made it through with a little help from PC and old GSC memories. I'm sure you'll do fine.

I suppose that's all you need, really - when it comes down to it, it's playing the game about half a year earlier, vs money and whether you don't mind playing the game in Japanese or not. Seeing as the latter isn't a problem for you then there's not much you're losing there at all. (And if you get stuck there's the FAQ/Help thread =P) Up to you in the end. The game is certainly very good though, I'll give you that. =)

PokeWalker should be with the other versions as well, not just the Japanese one. And for those suggesting to ROM it or something, the PokeWalker will only work with official, legit HG/SS games.

Closing.
