Sandeon, Growlithe is already taken.

Eliminator Jr., Sandshrew is fine as it is the only one left now.

Edit: Righto, all of the Pokemon have been taken. Moving on, if people could post their first section, that'd be great. Thanks in advance.

My fingers hurt XD.

**************

It was early in the morning for most people. The sun was still low in the sky, blanketing it in red and orange. Amaya stirred, due to her persistent internal alarm clock. She sat up and stretched like a cat, forcing herself to her feet. She was on Route 2, and Amaya knew she had to hurry. She walked on for two more hours, by which time the sun had risen higher.

Amaya winced at the light of the sun in her eyes. There was virtually no tree cover out here on Route 1, making her uncomfortable. Tael would be loving it, she knew. Smiling bitterly, she lifted her violet pendant to the sky. What about you Father? she thought cheerlessly. Would you love that people are happy, that the world is bright? I hope so. Her smile lightening, she tore down the pathway.

She could see Pallet Town up ahead. The lab was plainly obvious on top of the hill. It didn't take long for her to reach it. Passing by a girl clutching a Pokeball, Amaya took great care not to brush against her.

Professor Oak turned to greet her, smiling a genial smile. Amaya hurriedly bowed low and mumbled a greeting.

"That's two now," the old man stated warmly. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a white flip-calculator device and five red-white shrunken spheres. Placing them in her hands, Amaya winced, holding back the images, and took them quickly.

"Thank you very much Professor," she mumbled politely. He frowned for a moment, as though she were a puzzle he was trying to solve. Then his happy smile returned and Oak turned around, taking a Pokeball from the shelf. It was lilac with blue flames on the center button, top and bottom, along with blue stripes lining the middle. He held out the Pokeball to her. Hesitantly, she grasped it. Amaya gasped and could not stop the images from flowing through her mind.

"I see," she mumbled, oblivious to the people around her. "You are a rare shiny Dratini, hunted for the exquisiteness of your kind. Your mother was captured protecting you. Despite that you are kind and gentle." Still in the trance, she ordered firmly, "Come out!" The Pokeball burst open and out came a mostly violet, snake-like creature with black eyes.

It stared at its new master curiously. Slipping out of the mindset, Amaya knelt and stroke the dragon's scales. She smiled softly. "I think we will be great friends. May I call you Hao?" She let out a cry of agreement, wrapping herself loosely around his Trainer's neck.

"So this is what your mother meant," Professor Oak was watching her.

"I-I'm sorry?" the teen questioned. Oak smiled again and waved her off.

"Never mind. You should get going. There's is a long journey waiting for you. Be careful now."

Amaya nodded and stood up again. "Understood. Thank you so much. I'm off then." Without a backward glance, the pair left.
"Perhaps I misjudged you after all."

Aaron woke early so he could jog to pallet town, which was hours away from where he lived.

Those hours passed and he found himself at oak's lab. he met the old man with a determined gaze and accepted his pokemon and dex, but when oak handed him the pokeballs, he declined, saying "sorry. i've got my own and i'm more comfortable with those."

he walked down to route 1 and released his abra, and said "alright, the name's aaron. What's yours?"

the abra replied through his telepathy "m-my n-name i-i-is sheena"

"alright sheena!" aaron jovially replied . "let's get to know each other!"

They talked for a good deal of time, sheena gradually becoming less nervous . eventully aaron hoisted him up on to his back and started walking. eventully they came upon hao and amaya. Aaron said to amaya
"Hi! what's your name?"

Chapter 1: Shades of a New Beginning

The pinkish rays of sun burst through the bright orange tent flap, creating an unpleasant color combination which was the cause of the person sleeping in the tents awakening. With a yawn and a stretch Mike emerged. He looked over the hill into the small town he was camping just outside of. This was Pallet Town. It wasn’t a big town, but it wasn’t small either. It had the look and feel of a small town on its way to be being big. It looked like an old town, some fences need mending, a lawn need cut here and there. But overall it was good looking town. A faint smile crossed Mike’s face as he remembered a town similar to Pallet, that he had left what felt like years ago. With a contented sigh, Mike proceeded to get dressed and pack up his camp sight.

After going through his pack and deciding what he would need and what he wouldn’t for his journey, Mike strapped his pack on and began to follow the directions on the notice. Thinking back to when he had found it he remembered what it had said: “Looking for adventure? Excitement?? Friends for life??? Then come to Pallet Town in two days time! There Prof. Oak will be handing out Pokémon Partners to willing participants.” Knowing he needed to find a Starter Pokémon to actually become the Champion, Mike gladly took his camp down from Viridian City and began the trek to Pallet Town. Now he was on his way to Prof. Oak’s lab and Mike couldn’t be happier.

“Now what did that note say? Tallest house on the tallest hill with the maroon roof…” Mike muttered to himself as he looked for Prof. Oak’s laboratory. “Oh there it is!” Mike cried as he spotted it. Humming a happy tune, Mike ran up the steps two at a time. He reached the door and politely knocked.

“C’mon in! Its open!” a voice called from behind the door. Suddenly nervous, Mike cautiously opened the door. Inside on top of a ladder was an older man with gray, almost white hair. He moved with youthful vigor though which made him appear much younger. “Ah, you must be one of the young trainers I advertized for!” the old man exclaimed.

“Yes sir!” Mike said nervous and excited at the same time.

“Good good. My name is Professor Oak. Who might you be?”

“My name is Mike Stand sir. You may know my dad James Stand.”

“Oh yes! The man who became Champion a few years back! You know he’s gone undefeated?” Oak asked.

A hollow look entered Mike’s eyes. “Yeah, I know.” He said quietly.
Oak looked at him curiously but decided to comment. Instead he brought out a blue flip calculator and a small red and white ball. “This is your Pokedex. Its name is Jack.” Oak said motioning towards the calculator. “And this is your Pokémon!” Oak opened the ball and out popped a small green bud. It smiled at Mike and said “Budew!”

‘Er…what is it?” Mike asked.

In response to his question, Jack flipped open and said in a mechanical voice “Budew, the Bud Pokémon. Sensitive to changing temperature, the bud is said to bloom when it feels the sun’s warm touch.”

“Budew.” Budew said again with an eyebrow raised as if to say “Duh.”

“And there you have it.” Oak said. “Budew is a Grass/Poison type Pokémon so it shouldn’t be too much of a handful. However if you notice anything strange about the Budew at all, just know those are perfectly normal.”

“What do you mean strange?” Mike said.

“Oh nothing, nothing.” Oak said dismissively. “Now run along now and get acquainted with your new partner!”

Budew was thrust into Mike’s arms and Oak shoved him out the door. Standing on Oak’s porch Mike looked at Budew and sighed, wondering just what he had gotten himself into.

Light was shining down upon Pallet Town. It's a few hours after daybreak and Jay is finishing his way down Route 1. Jay's journey to Pallet took a couple of days from Celadon because he needed to rest, and not having any Pokemon of his own. Before he left his house, Jay was given a lot of Repel, A LOT. Well just enough to get him to Pallet without having to deal with wild Pokemon. Jay's clothes smelled horribly of Repel, and he hated it. 2 Days covered in the stuff and anyone can grow sick of it. For this short portion of his journey Jay wore a basic red hoodie, and black jeans that weren't too baggy.

10 Minutes Later

Jay finished his trek to Pallet Town and looked at everything from the entrance. Jay walked up to a sign and began to read it aloud, "A Tranquil Setting of Peace and Purity. Everyone must be so happy go lucky here."

As Jay walked through town he examined the houses. He began to enjoy what the sign at the entrance said, the peacefulness of it all. When Jay was younger, he heard about the Celadon Casino being a base of Team Rocket, making it somewhat infamous. Jay continued his walk through Pallet when he spotted a somewhat large building, resting on the top of a hill with a maroon roof, "That must be the place."

After a couple of minutes Jay came up the bottom of the staircase that leads to the top of the hill, to Professor Oak's Lab. Jay took out his ear buds and wrapped it around his MP3, "Don't wanna give off a bad first impression.'

Jay walked up the long flight of stairs and came to a large wooden door. He looked at the door a little confused and pressed what he thought was a doorbell.

DING DONG!

A voice came from a speaker, "The door's unlocked so you're welcome to enter."

Jay opened the door to Professor Oak's Lab and immediately saw Professor Oak's extravagant book collection, "Whoa."

Jay walked along the shelves, brushing his hand across the books' spines' and for certain moments glanced at the titles, "Pokemon Evolution?"

A door opened and a man with gray but nicely-trimmed hair, wearing a lab coat came out, "Are you Connor?"

Jay shook his head disappointingly at the Professor, "Umm....I'm Jason."

Prof. Oak slammed his fist against his open palm as if he's made a new discovery, "Oh right, you're Jason! I'm terribly sorry Jason. May I call you Jay? It's much easier."

Jay nodded along, "That's what everyone calls me."

Prof. Oak opened up a large door and the two entered. Oak began to try to make some light conversation, "I understand you keep to yourself a lot. That's okay, you'll break out of your Shellder soon enough."

Jay covered his mouth holding in his laughter. The two finally reached a portion of the lab with a few decorated Pokeballs. The Professor reached for a Pokeball with a purple cloud on the front. Next the Professor grabbed 5 Pokeballs and a dark green Pokedex.

The Professor walked up to Jay and handed him the items, "This is your Pokemon, Pokedex, and Pokeballs. I understand you know most of the basics?"

All Jay did was give Prof. Oak a simple nod to reply, "Well your Pokedex will give you the most help on your journey. Release your Gastly and give it a try."

Jay looked at the Pokeball with the purple cloud and uttered a couple words, "Come on out Gastly."

The red ball opened up and with a poof a small purple cloud was floating in the air, "Gast.....Ly. Gastly."

Jay flipped open his green Pokedex and it started to speak in a somewhat deep voice, "Gastly-This Pokémon's body is 95% made up of gases, which are blown away by strong gusts of wind."

Jay tried to look up some more information on his first Pokemon, "Ghost and Poison? Nice."

Prof. Oak put his hand on Jay's shoulder, "Gastly's a good Pokemon, there was an Elite 4 member who specialized in Ghost Pokemon. I don't really want to bore you with my stories, so you should go and start your new journey. Good luck Jay."

Jay returned his Gastly into it's Pokeball and started to leave. Before taking his last step out of Oak's Lab he brought up a question, "Is there a place I can change? I also sorta wanna get rid of my Repel enriched clothing."

The Professor pointed towards a bathroom, "Go ahead. There's a bathroom in the direction I'm pointing at. If you want just throw your clothes in the trash can in there.

Few Minutes Later

Jay opened the door to the bathroom revealing his traveling outfit. Jay had on a pair of large, black aviator sunglasses. His upper body sported a simple white t-shirt covered with a gray vest. Jay's lower body had a simple pair of dark-blue faded jeans and a pair of high-top, white sneakers.

Jay threw his backpack over his shoulders and made his way out the door, "Thanks Professor, I'm gonna get going now."

Jay walked out of the Professor's Lab into a beautiful sunny day.

Thurston covered his eyes as the Pidgeot flew away into the sky, leaving him stranded. There was no way back home now. He'd finally carried out his long hidden dream to escape from home, to escape from the pressure of his father. He was tired of the constant scrutinising, of the non-stop lectures. Of course he didn't really pay attention to any of them, nor did he put any effort into looking like he cared, but his father never really got the hint. He wanted excitement in his life, not calculators and finances. Trying to bend him into the mould of an accountant was like trying to hammer metal without heating it first - he just wasn't malleable to their needs. If somebody had to pick out of all of Thurston's social group who would become a trainer, he would be the last choice. Tall and apathetic he just didn't make the cut. But he could be surprisingly loving and dedicated when times needed him to be. This would be one of those times.

Unfortunately Thurston had never seen the Oak Lab before, so unlike the other people who were bound to have responded to his ad he would probably be a little late. His friend's dad owned a Pidgeot who luckily knew where Pallet Town was, and so the transport wasn't a problem. It was just navigating his way around the town that would be tricky. He had been dropped off on a packed dirt road, tough ground. He was on a walkway through a park he soon realised - a place where city people went when they wanted to feel like they were in the wild. There were no hostile Pokémon here. Just a bunch of old gardeners and the occasional bike rider. It took him about ten minutes to follow the path to get out of the park, and when he did he found himself across the road from a busy street. It was early in the morning but already Pallet Town was alive with excitement. Vermillion was always so laid back - the hustle and bustle was a nice change.

A nice lady working at the bakery told him that the Oak Laboratories was on the highest hill in Pallet Town and that he shouldn't miss it. Her word was right, and he began walking off straight away. His pants were slightly too long and so they dragged along on the ground and had small rips at the end of them. He didn't really care about them, as long as he was still warm then they were doing their job. He got a few disgusted looks from passers by but he ignored them. Due to his height, he was used to looking down to see things and so he walked with his head down. He was the definition of daggy. It took another hour but eventually he arrived at the laboratory. By that time the sun was just beginning to heat up the sky.

He looked for the doorbell but the door opened by itself to reveal a laboratory assistant who looked more like a fitness trainer than a scientist. Thurston shrugged and walked in. The room was huge - books lined the entire wall and the roof was high above him. Aides moved about busily and he could see his reflection in the blue tile floor as if it was a mirror. Everything was clean, and he was glad at that moment that he wiped his feet before coming in. He didn't want to make a bad impression.

"Ah, you're here." Professor Oak said. He was old but his voice was still strong. And he was still able to move properly, judging by his ableness to surprise Thurston with his presence. Just moments ago he swore the professor wasn't there. It was as if he had appeared from nowhere. He held out his hand and introduced himself, "I'm Professor Oak."

"I'm Thurston Shield," he replied in his mumbled voice. It was low and sounded like he really didn't care, but in all honesty he did. However, Oak didn't seem put off by it at all. In fact, he seemed quite happy, as if he had suddenly just realised exactly who his guest was. "I'm like, here to answer your ad, I guess."

"Oh that's right," Oak continued. This guy was great, Thurston thought. Usually anybody speaking to him would be complaining about how casual he was by now and the professor seemed to not mind it at all. "You're the boy from Vermillion City, aren't you?" Oak exclaimed, as if he had just solved a particularly difficult sudoku puzzle. "Follow me." Oak led his guest down a long and rather pointless hallway to reach a long table filled with Poké Balls. He picked one up and handed it across to Thurston. Thurston didn't know what was in it, but he didn't complain. Oak acted like this was what usually happened, maybe it was. Thurston pressed the button on the center of the Poké Ball and from the capsule emerged a brick-skinned rodent. Thurston instantly recognised it as a Sandshrew, and returned it. He'd rather spend time bonding with his Pokémon on Route 1 rather than in a laboratory around many other people. Oak smiled and so did Thurston. This Pokémon he liked a lot.

"You'd... best be off then. We've both got important work to attend to." Oak smiled in a fatherly fashion and then waved goodbye, turning off in a hurry to attend to other work. The job description hadn't exactly given him more than the bare outline of what he was supposed to do - bring down a criminal organisation. As he walked back towards the entrance of the laboratory, an aid stopped him in his tracks and handed him a collection of items. The first was a black Pokédex, and the others were empty Poké Balls. Muttering his thanks, Thurston set off out the door, finally independant.

Entry 1: Ab Origne (At the Beginning)

Lives are nothing more than pages in a book, one fleeting to the next, sublimely forced together. We are nothing more than pages in those books. We are knowledge, we are wisdom. Nothing more than a page in a book, we are not the cover that binds them together. Watch closely. There is much to be done. –Noah McCoy, Wisdom I the Soul-Bound Collector

Hours after Thurston arrived.

“I’m glad that you could make it, Mister…” Oak trailed off a bit allowing the time in between to be filled with the sipping of his tea.

“Isaiah,” the young man said wetting his throat with a sip of the gingered tea. “Isaiah McCoy,” the man gave his full name.

“Ahhh, so you’re the one that everyone in Johto has been speaking about.”

“No. Don’t be too lavish, Professor. You’re much more renowned than I. I’m just a collector.”

“I see. You’re not one to be showered with praise.”

“Nor should I deserve such glory,” Isaiah paused. “Yet,” he added.

The two men had taken a bit of time to enjoy a cup of freshly brewed tea on the parlor of the Professor Oak’s laboratory. It was too long ago when Isaiah arrived. Unlike the others, he had just appeared mysteriously on the doorstep with his pokemon roosted on his shoulder. The same pokemon, a beautiful Hoothoot like known of which Oak has ever seen stayed on his shoulder—asleep. It was the middle of the day.

Oak had to admit that this one was a bit different than the rest. Throughout their conversion, he could feel this mysterious aura dripping from the man’s body. It was like fresh breeze yet something appeared to be rather dangerous about it, as though it as tainted with daggers. Though Oak had remained eye contact with the young man’s hazel eyes, he had to admit that he had a slither of fear. Those hazel eyes felt as though they were peering through his soul. He heaved a heavy sigh before continuing with the conversion.

“Who has arrived thus far,” Isaiah spoke. He was more than curious about the others as well as himself.

“Josephine, Amaya, Aaron, Mike, Jay, and Thurston have come by. That makes you the seventh.”

“Ah. That’s a nice number,” Isaiah nodded his head in approval, his hat slipping down his face as he did so.

“That’s interesting, why?” Oak questioned as he put his elbow on the cherry-colored table.

“It just has that majesty that I like in a number. Anyway, we are off topic.”

“That we are,” Oak said as he shook some of the leaves out of his hair, he wished he too had a hat on at the moment. “Was the trip from Ecruteak a vigorous one?”

“No. I ran into some minor difficulties. I had planned to come much earlier than this.”

“Difficulties,” Oak tilted his head.

“It is nothing that should concern you, Mr. Oak. I just ran into some problems.”

To be frank, it was something of a bit of importance to Isaiah. Before he had left Ecruteak, he had to settle some business within the Tin Tower. A group of teens had decided to graffiti the outside of the wall of the great temple. Isaiah caught them in the act. They challenged him to a battle; the biggest mistake that they had ever made. This left a group of unconscious teens in his wake as well as well as a slew of fainted pokemon. If it was one thing that could irk Isaiah’s nerves was the defiling of history. He was willing to be late to this very meeting to show them a lesson.

The professor took in the change in expression in Isaiah’s face and thoroughly decided that he would omit that from the conversion. Though the change in expression was subtle, it was enough to show that this young man was indeed very dangerous. Oak let out some tension before continuing.

“I have something for you, Mr. McCoy.”

“Oh, I do not deserve such honorifics. Remember, I am only eighteen,” Isaiah waved off.

“Oh….” Oak had simply forgotten that he was speaking to a person much younger than he. “Well then, Isaiah,” Oak pulled out a device from the inner portions of the lab coat. It was white that was trimmed with a golden paint. The lens was yellow on the top that sent a stream of reflected light up Isaiah’s face. “Here’s your Pokedex. I assume that you already have your starter pokemon from Professor Elm.”

“Yes yes. I’ve actually known Ark for quite some time before this, however. Elm just made it official.”

“Ah, I see,” Oak said as he slid the Pokedex over towards Isaiah’s way with a flick of the wrist.

“Thank you,” Isaiah bowed courteously as he took the Pokedex from table.

Isaiah was found him inquisitively staring into the surface the Pokedex. Curiosity has always leaded him in most direction that he followed. Whether that was the understanding more of the history, more of technology, or more of life; he was thirsting to understand more. He flipped open the small computer to display the LCD screen. The device’s display screen came on automatically thus stopping Isaiah’s search for the on button. He sighed with the thrill of the chase seized from and continued to search through the function of this hand held.

“Point it to your HootHoot, Ark was it?” Oak nudged him forward with a suggestion.

With his curiosity nipped from the bud, he pointed the device towards his sleeping partner. The device began scan with a yellow light emitting from the lens of the same hue. It scanned up and down before displaying screen in where his pokemon, the owl, appeared.

“HootHoot, the Owl Pokemon,” the Pokedex spoke, Isaiah hardly liked the voice, it sounded too robotic. “HootHoot stands on a single leg, but has the ability to use both. When attacking, its eyes can peer through the deepness darkness as well as unleashing powerful attack.”

Isaiah stared at the HootHoot still fast asleep on his shoulder. It was indeed standing on one leg and it does use its night vision often, so it was accurate. Isaiah smiled. Though the voice wasn’t to his liking, it was a way to obtain knowledge. That in itself was something that he could respect.

“I like it,” Isaiah announced.

“I figured that you would,” Oak stood up now. “I must attend to the rest of the trainers coming. Do you care to explore Pallet Town?”

“I am keen on history. I’ll explore,” Isaiah too stood up.

“Well. Then you will be pleased that Pallet Town has quite a bit of interesting history. Enjoy.”

Oak was ready to take his leave before realizing he had one more than to give Isaiah. He placed the five spheres with the hands of the eighteen year old male. He looked at these, but not with the same vigor that he did with the Pokedex. He had seen these before, so knew how they worked. He had used these before. He already possessed three pokemon from other regions. He was looking for two more for his collection.

“Do you know how to use these?” Oak asked.

“Yes,” Isaiah answered.

“I don’t see any on you…” Oak looked bewildered.

Isaiah opened the white bonded tome—the cover being the black outline of the sun and the moon clashing together to form as one. He opened the book; he placed the five spheres on top of one of the pages. The pages then proceed to consumed them, melting into the pages like a quick sand. Oak watched stunned as the pages finished the consumption.

“Okay…” Oak’s slurred.

“Ah, I see even the professor has much to research as well,” Isaiah spoke calmly. He brushed the leaves off his long coat. “Everyone has much to learn.”

“Spoken like a true researcher,” Oak said as he shoved the idea of the book out of his mind. “I’ll be leaving you. Make yourself at home.”

“I will.”

Author's note: Please tell me that I didn't forget anyone who has arrived already. XD Sorry for the late response. I had every attention to go first. Ha ha ha. Good though. I made for an interesting insight in his character. Keep it going everyone. I'm liking it.

(((OC: Dude, jcogginsa stole my abra!!! I'll just assume I have an abra and will change after clarifying)))

Blooded dripped from Connor's hands. He had tried to sanitize his wound to little effect. Another step, pain, another step, pain. Thoughts circled in his head. His vision was blurred and he could hardly breath and yet he continued. Another step. „Why?“, is all he thought. Another step. „Didn't I always do what was right? Didn't I work hard and play fair?“ Another step. The increasing pain was slowly accompied by a increasing numbness. Behind him lay a path of broken twigs and brushes, splattered with his own blood. Another step. „How could this have happened? What went wrong?“ Another step. He tripped over a root and came crashing into nearby undergrowth. His wound ruptured again and started spilling more blood. His vision blurred more. Everything seemed only to be a shadow of reality. Maybe he should stay there, left for dead. Laying in a bush, bled to death in a place far from home. Then the ultimate question formed in his mind, the question he fought most not to ask: „Is this all really worth fighting for?“ He closed one of his eyes. It was weird, all his life hethought he was so strong and now in the face of death, he is as weak as any. Then suddenly, an ear shattering scream echoed through the entire forest. „NOOOOO!“. He yelled at the top of his lungs. With newfound strength he grabed a nearby branch and pulled himself up. He set both his feet firmly on the ground and shook his head. Clearing his vision, he took one step, than another. „I might not know if it's worth fighting for. But I've got a job to do and I'm gonna see it through“, he said with ice cold vigilance. Then he took another step.
Connor cut through the leaves with his knife. Nothing could stop him now. He went on. Behind him was a path of destruction. That same rage he felt that one faithful day had returned. He splintered a large stick on the floor with a powerful stomp, not even noticing the pain. His face was carved from stone, a look of cold determination. He was still bleedging and it was getting dark. He looked further. „It can't be that much farther...“

Oak's assistant was looking through some documents, sorting them, classifieing them and the like. He wasn't really looking at the glass door, until he heard the dull bonk of a human body hittting the glass. The figure slowly slid down the glass, hardly having the power to knock a few times against the glass, pulling a trail of blood and dirt over it's entire surface. „PROFESSOR!“, is all Connor heared before everything trailed into darkness.

Light. That's all he saw. Was he dead? No, he didn't feel dead. Then he understood his eyes were shut. Then he noticed he wasn't in the woods anymore. He heard something moving near by. Before Oak could react to warn him, Connor leaped out of bed in a large jump and instictively grabed for his knife, only to find their was none their. He looked around the room. He seemed to be in a hospital, or something similar. Then he noticed the man before him, he was sitting in a chair looking at him. The man had neatly trimmed gray hair and seemed to be somewhre in his mid-fifties.

„Ah, you are awake! I was worrying you might never wake up.“, the man said in a friendly tone. Connor then for the first time looked down to see his was wearing nothing except his, or more exactly except what is left of his, Jeans. His wound was expertly cleaned and bandaged, the bleeding stilled.

„Who the f**k are you and what do you want?“, Connor asked harshly, looking around for an available weapon.

Oak laughed. „Sit down, son. You're safe here.“, he said in an reassuring tone.

„My name is Professor Oak. You might know me. But more importantly, who are you?“, Oak asked.

„I'm Connor. Wait, the Professor Oak?“, Connor anwsered

„Yes, the Professor Oak. So I was right. Your mentor and I knew each other very well. Is... is it really that bad?“, Oak asked unsure.

Connor's face hardened again. „Yes, I'm afraid it is. I think you could have guessed though.“, he awnsered pointing to his wound.

„Why yes, I must say you are a tough boy. It is a miracle you neither bled to death nor died of lead poisoning.“. Oak held up a small tablet with around a dozen small lead spheres on it.

„Whoa, and I thought I was only hit once. Wait, how long have I been out?“, Connor replied seeing sunlight shining through the window.

„Oh around 8 hours I guess. But never mind that. I have something I have to give you.“

„It isn't my shirt by any chance, is it?“

Oak chuckled. „No young lad. You know about pokemon and trainers and how they fight together to become stronger and stronger, right?“, Oak inquired.

Connor didn't like the way this conversation was going. Oak saved him, that's good, but now he might actually be trying to get him to da some weird**s Pokemon training. He like Pokemon but he had better things to do! His persuers may have not been allowed to cross the border but they surely contacted local authority. He couldn't have them catch him. He was his old friend's last hope! And frankly, that of his whole country.

„I know you like doing this 'sending little kids on weird missions all across the world' thing, but I really have more important stuff to do.“, Connor said, trying to formulate it halfway polite.

„You mean, like this?“; Oak said stern as he pulled out a gun. Connor felt a lump in his throat, but quickly swallowed it.

„If necessary, yes. Yes, I will have to.“, Connor said in an determined and controlled tone.

Oak put the gun away. „You might now realise this, but I think we are fighting a common enemy. You have to be ready to accept that a pokemon can help you alot. You might not understnad it now, but you will.“

Connor hesitated. Before he could anwser Oak layed a Pokeball onto the nightstand and stood up. „I will leave it here. Your clothes and equipment are in their.“, hepointet towards a small chest. „I will not force you to do this. If you wish to go then you are free to. I will not stop you. I wish only that you think about it.“ with these words he left the room, leaving Connor to his own thoughts.

Connor thought hard about what to do. He dressed and got his things together, his three lighters, his knife, some rations, a last makeshift smokegrenade and a molotov cocktail.He then put on his good old leather jacket and checked the secret inside pocket. He then produced a small pile of dried leaves and seeds, smiled and put them back. He then took a look at the pokeball on the nightstand. It was just your typical red-white pokeball. Unsure of what to do he just thought about releasing the thing. After a short flash of light a small blue, turtle-like creature could be seen sitting on the floor.

„Wow, what the hell is that thing?“, he asked out loud.

„Squirtle. A water pokemon, it often uses it's hard shell for protection....", a female voice suddenly said behind him. He whirled around only to see a weird calculator like object laying their, talking to him. This must be such a pokedex thing!

„Hm, a tough water? He doesn't look very tough. But hell, if your such a bulwark I'll call you Tank“, he said laughing to himself. The strange thing made some unintelligible noises. Somehow it was cute.

„Ha, wow. Maybe this whole idea isn't half as stupid as I thought.“ he returned Tank to his Pokeball and left his room. Their Oak was already waiting.

„So, you have decided. Splendid! Most of the others have already left.“, Oak said happily.

„Whoa, whoa, whoa. Others? You didn't say sh*t about any other prancing kids I have to take care of! I work alone.“, Connor spoke with disgust in his voice.

„But you can't go in their alone! You will need...“ *SLAM* Oak only heared the door closing behind him before he was gone.

„What now sir?“, his assistant asked.

„Don't worry. I like that boy. He knows whats right. It'll all work out just fine.“

Clare was stone face as she got off the ferry and stepped onto the docks outside of Pallet Town. She looked around the forest that lined the path towards the small town before continuing to walk towards it. The girl couldn't help but to smile to herself as she entered Pallet Town. Finally, after so many years of being denied what she truely wanted, she was going to become a trainer and journey through out the region. She was going to win battles, catch rare Pokemon and defeat the Elite Four.

All she had to do know was meet up with Prof. Oak and get her starter.

For a while, Clare mused over what her Pokemon would be. She heard of the three original starters that kids use to get; Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtal. The girl hoped that she would be able to at least choose between one of those Pokemon. Of course, she would be happy with any other Pokemon, as long as it was at least half decent.

By the end of her musing, Clare had reached the Lab where Prof. Oak did his work. The girl took the time to look at the Lab. It didn't seem to be much of anything, not that it matter too much if it was something special. All that matter was that she was going to get her starter and get started on her journey. With a smirk, Clare opened the doors and walked into the lab.

Prof. Oak looked up from some paper work he was doing and smiled as he saw the girl enter. "Ah, you must be one of the new trainers. May I ask what you're name is?" He asked.

"Clare, Clare Hunter sir," Clare answered.

"Ah yes, Clare Hunter..." Prof. Oak said, looking over a list by his desk. "Yes, here you are! I'll go get your starter."

Clare had to surpress an impatient squirm when the Pokemon Prof. said this, wanting to just grab her starter and get going already. Oak soon came back with a Pokeball in his hand, giving Clare a warm smile.

"Alright Clare, he's your first partner; Meowth," Prof. Oak said, opening the ball up. In a flash of light, a small, cat with long whiskers and a coin on his head. He looked around himself before looking at Clare and tilting his head at her.

"Meow?" He asked.

Clare blinked, not believing the Pokemon she had gotten. Her hands curled into fists as she glared at Prof. Oak. "A Meowth? Really? This is the best you could had given me? A Meowth!?" She nearly yelled.

Prof. Oak sighed. "Trust me, it's not what it looks like. We don't give any beinging trainer a very powerful Pokemon. Trust me, every Pokemon I've given out so far is around the same powerful and ability level as this Meowth. Not to mention the fact that the Meowth is easy to train and I think he likes you." He said, adding the last part as the Meowth rubbed itself against Clare's leg.

"Yeah...whatever..." Clare muttered, then sighed. "Well, since I can't do anything about it, I guess I have to take him."

"Great," Oak said with a nod, then gestured to a table with a Pokedex and five Pokeballs. "Here is your equipment. Those Pokemon should help you make your starting team and the Pokedex will help us all with reasearch. Last of all, would you like to nickname your Meowth?"

Clare looked at the Meowth, who stared back at her. The girl sighed before saying, "How about Chase?"

"Meowth!" The now named Meowth called out happily, rubbing even more against him.

"Right...lets just get going," Clare muttered and, after grabbing her stuff, stomped out of the lab with Chase walking right behind her, his tail high.

Prof. Oak sighed and shook his head. "If only you knew what awaited you..." he muttered before sitting down at his dest and getting back to work.

Entry II: In Where It Lurks…..

Within all souls is a portion that thirsts for war and a part that longs for death. It’s impending curiosity that lurks in the soul about the unknown of the afterlife. A war is started with a battle; a war is ended with a battle. Will your curiosity for death lead to war? Or will your curiosity of battle lead to death? Adam McCoy, Wisdom V- The Seeker of the Unknown

Isaiah studied the woman closely that stood before him grasping his book tightly to his chest. This woman, Holly Woods, had requested a battle. She nervously approached Isaiah while he was searching through the books upon books within the small library Pallet Town had recently received. The only reason that he wanted to battle in the first place was because his very soul thirsted for at the moment. In any other time, he would have pleasantly declined the offer. But for some reason, he felt like he needed to battle this girl just to satisfy his appetite for battle. He accepted the offer.

“I’ll gladly accept your offer, Miss Woods. However, do not underestimate me. I am much too powerful.”

“I—I,” Holly spoke nervously. “Alright, I won’t.”

“Then let us go. I refuse to battle in such a place like this.”

Of course, Isaiah would refuse to battle in a library. History was preserved here and harming history was nothing more than a sin within the pit of his soul. He took the woman’s hand to graciously guide her to a more suitable battle location. He ultimately decided on a spot amongst the dusty road of Route 1. It provided a clean slate for the both of them to do battle whether that was in the air or on the sky. If she possessed a water pokemon, she would have long asked the battle to be held near the pool on the south end of town. Since she did not, he decided it must have been one of the two.

Isaiah let go of her hand, allowing her to shuffle through her purse in search for a pokeball. She indeed had the advantage since she obviously saw the HootHoot, Ark, perched on his shoulder like a gargoyle on a cathedral. If she had chosen or even had an electric pokemon, this would pose difficult. She seemed to be pleased on the pokeball that she had chosen before allowing the pokemon to lunge out of the pokeball gracefully.

As stunning as it’s twirling entrance, her pokemon: a blue bird with red feathered neck and white underbelly appeared. It was a Taillow. It matched Holly’s very sublime personality well, even matched her lengthy blue hair and white dress. It would be a fitting match, no one had the advantage.

Ark…can you wait up please…” Isaiah asked his pokemon softly ringing his voice in the pokemon’s mind.

<Yes, master…I am already awoke> Ark’s voice was soothing, melting into the air like wind.

The HootHoot opened its eyes slowly, revealing her eyes to be blue comparable to the crimson that they normally held. She was stretched his brown wings with this sense of splendor to them. It felt like the pokemon was something more than just a normal owl pokemon that you will meet on any root. It almost was a reminiscence of something more.

“Go! Tally,” Holly spoke happily.

“Flew to the skies, Ark,” Isaiah bowed.

The two bird pokemon flew into the sky, spiraling upwards towards the clouds. The battle was about to begin and both trainers seemed relatively relaxed. However Holly could feel it, she could actually feel how dangerous this combination was. It was almost scary. She managed to calm her nerves deciding ultimately to throw the first blow.

“Peck!” she shouted.

“Tackle…” Isaiah spoke calmly.

The two attacks clashed, hitting simultaneously to their respective opponents. Tally’s beak jammed awkwardly into Ark’s chest while Ark’s head bashed into Tally’s chest. The attacks sent both people reeling. They kept at the attacks for a couple of moment as the masters watched on. Tally would dodge a Tackle while Ark dodged a Peck. They were matched in speed. Holly seemed to be astonished with this fact. She knew for a fact that Tally was going to be fast. Why was it struggling to keep up?

“Focus your energy!” Holly shouted.

“I don’t have to let that happen….Wing Attack,” Isaiah ordered.

The Taillow began to build energy, however it was stopped subsequently with a Wing Attack straight down into the ground. Ark with a mental order from his master dived downward with a powerful tackle as a powerful and stunning follow up. Holly was now panicking with her bird pinned to the ground in such a savage fashion. It was definitely something to be feared.

“Um….Growl,” Holly was in tears of panic now.

“Forfeit,” Isaiah mentioned. “If I go any further, I will critically injure your pokemon.”

“I admit…defeat…” she returned her pokeball.

Stand down…Ark…”

<Yes master…> Ark flew back to her master’s shoulder allowing Holly to return her pokeball.

“You’re scary when you are in battle….” Holly admitted.

“You should see me when I’m mad. Have a nice day, Miss Holly. Work to become stronger.”

She nodded. If it was something, it was a learning experience to her. Though her heart chilled with ice when she spoke with him, she knew he wasn’t a bad person. Isaiah smiled towards her before he disappeared in a blizzard of white pages. Holly stared astonished at the teleportation of the trainer. She shook it off in disbelief.

Author's note: It was a bit short since it as a scrimmage. XD I just want to show how relentless Isaiah can be. It gets worst. Trust me.

(OOC: sorry this has taken so long, My computer crashed on me twice during some 'Automatic upgrade')

Raydin stifled a yawn behind his hand as he hopped out of bed. He grabbed his pack and made sure everything was in it and ready to go.

He quickly changed in his room, and ran across the upstairs landing to brush his teeth. He barely let the water trickle, and he wet his brush squeezed his toothpaste, and began brushing as fast as possible. He rinsed the brush and ran back to his room, stuffing it into his pack.

Raydin took the stairs slowly, making sure not to step on any of the steps that creaked. The bottom two steps were creaky ones, so Raydin had to jump to the floor. He slipped off his shoes and put them in his hands. He crouched slightly, and then he leaped. Raydin landed softly, and he recovered quickly. standing up, Raydin walked to the kitchen.

Raydin poured himself a glass of OJ, placed a slice of bread in his toaster, and sat down to write.

Dear mom and Dad,

I am truly sorry that I have to leave without saying goodbye. But if I had waited until Later today to say goodbye, i feared that I would not be able to say goodbye. As I told you, Today is the day that I begin my pokemon journey. I will be following in the footsteps of my siblings. I promise to write you, and I will visit, soon. I hope you will be able to forgive me as I will be able to forgive myself.
with love,
Raydin

Raydin looked at his messy handwriting scrwled out on the sheet of paper. He would be back, he had made a promise. He took a sip of orange juice and grimaced, he still had the flavor of tooth paste in his mouth. Raydiin toughed it out though, and he quickly downed the rest of it.

Raydin grabbed his toast, left the note where his parents could find it, and walked out the door with a tear on his cheek.

Raydin slowly walked towards the bus stop, nibbling on his toast thoughtfully. He wondered briefly when he was going to see his family again, but then his thoughts shifted to today. He was finally going to get his own pokemon and follow in the footsteps of his siblings! Raydin saw the bus stop up ahead and ran towards it, ready to start his adventure.

Shortly after Raydin made it to the bus stop, the bus arrived. Raydin jumped up and walked in, handing the bus driver 50 poke. He sat down and leaned back. This was going to be a long 2 hours.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Raydin woke up as soon as he felt the bus come to a stop. He peered out the window eagerly.yes! He was now in pallet town.
Raydin walked up the thin aisle and thanked the driver. He hopped off of the bus and heard the bus leave behind him. Raydin looked around him in amazement. The buildings here were designed so..so...differently. Raydin saw the largest building he had ever seen in the distance. Professor Oak's lab. Raydin picked up the pace as he ran towards the building.
Raydin came accross the doors of the lab and came to an abrupt halt. It was time. Raydin had gone too far to stop now. Raydin collected himself, and knocked on the door. He waited patiently afterwards. His patience was rewarded in the form of Oak, opening the door.
"Ah hello Raydin!" The professor said cheerfully. "Are you ready to receive your pokemon and supplies?"
Raydin nodded "Yes sir, I can't wait."
Oak smiled "Good.Good. Now come in boy, and close the door behind you."
Raydin closed the door and followed the professor deeper into the lab. Surrounding him were technologies the likes of which he had never seen. All around him he saw these technologies, and working on all of them were Aides. Raydin did not see a single one who was not doing something. Raydin walked behind Oak into a room with a dome in the center and then stopped.
Oak turned towards Raydin with objects in hand. He gave Him the pokedex in a grey color, five pokeballs-Which Raydin attached to his trainer's belt- and the pokeball containing his pokemon.
Raydin looked at the ball carefully. the bottom of it was a creamy color, and the top of it was orange. Running along the sides were black stripes and above the button there was a small flame.
Raydin relesed the pokemon inside. It looked kind of like a dog. It had creamy fur all over its underbelly and along the inside of its legs. The cream colored fur continued up to its muzzle, with a large tuft on its chest. This colored fur was also in a tuft on its head, and all over its fluffy tail. The fur on the rest of its body was orange, with the exception of black stripes along its back and knees. It had two claws on its front paws, and none on its back set. It would look rather majestic if it weren't for its cocked head and tongue hanging out of its mouth.
The new Pokedex in Raydin's hand went off. Growithe, the puppy pokemon. It controls a very large territory. If it smells something that seems dangerous, it roars loudly to scare it away.
Raydin smiled at the Growlithe and then looked at Oak "Gender?"
To which Oak replied, "Male."
Raydin nodded and said to the growlithe, "I'm going to call you Ignus."
The growlithe barked happily and ran in a circle.
Raydin smiled and returned Ignus to his pokeball.
Oak looked at Raydin and said, "those pokeballs are of a new model. You do not need to push the button on the front, as they are voice activated. They also will fail five times before breaking, and replacements are 300 poke, a little more than potions. The pokedex will record data on all of the pokemon it sees, so use it well."
Raydin nodded politely. "Yes sir and thank you for the Pokemon!" Raydin walked out front, and smiled. He was officially a trainer.
Amaya turned around to see a blond-haired boy with an Abra. She bowed politely. Hao squirmed for a moment before settling back down.
"My name is Amaya Suzuki. It is a pleasure to meet you. What is yours?"
Suddenly a timid voice piped up from a few feet away, "E-excuse me..." She turned to see a violet-haired boy in a white suit staring at her curiously. Hao, slightly irritated by the sudden jerking, glared at the teenager. The boy continued, oblivious. "My name's Benny. You have a Dratini, huh? That's cool..."
Amaya bowed again, "My name is Amaya, nice to meet you." I just seem to be meeting more and more people. "May I ask what's so special about a Dratini?"
For some reason, this seemed to excite the boy. "Dratini are dragon-types! Dragons are unbelievably rare and take a lot of training! Anybody who has the time and diligence to train one is really cool!"
She couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm. "Do you have a Dragon Pokemon too?" she inquired softly.
He nodded eagerly and tossed out a red and white Pokeball. Out came a small, pudgy, dark-blue dragon with a red underbelly. It opened its large mouth, revealing lots of small fangs. "This is Gible!" he exclaimed proudly. Abruptly Benny subsided, as though remembering something tragic. "Although... I just got him from Mom and Dad today. He's not very strong."
Amaya tilted her head slightly. "I just got mine too. Maybe we should battle."
Benny jumped. "B-Battle?"
She nodded. "It'll be good practice."
To her surprise, the teen nodded. "Sure. Go Gible!" The dragon bounced up and down, staring expectantly at its challenger. Amaya seemed to take a deep breath. Hao floated down toward her opponent's eye level and began to swirl around him, waiting, eyes locked on its opponent.
Benny, oddly excited, called out, "Gible, Tackle!" The Pokemon threw itself at Hao, who squirmed quickly out of the way. Amaya watched silently, her mouth firmly closed. Unruffled, he commanded, "Keep after it Gible!" Eager to obey, Gible threw himself in every which direction. All the way, she kept dodging, staring dully at the other dragon.
Agitated now, he ordered, "Sand-attack!" Gible kicked up sand into the air, forming a small cloud. Hao coughed and closed its eyes, wincing in pain. Elated, Benny shouted, "Tackle it!" Gible slammed his body into the serpent-like Pokemon, who cried out quietly.
Suddenly, Amaya whispered, "Wrap." Hao twisted its body around Gible's larger one and began to squeeze. He cried out loudly.
Benny looked baffled. "Why is... why is Gible taking so much damage? Wrap's a normal attack, so it shouldn't be..."
"Hao's been using Leer since the start of the battle," she informed him with a smile. On the battlefield, Hao had squirmed away from a semiconscious Gible, who lay on the ground twitching. Picking up her Dratini, Amaya waved. "That was fun. I hope we can battle again sometime." Nodding at him, she proceeded to Route 1.
"Perhaps I misjudged you after all."
And It Begins
The sun was already ascending to its highest point before Frank had even attempted to get it up. Today was the day he was to leave for his journey.
It was around noon before he had made his way out of bed.
"Come on Frank!" Steve, his father, screamed from the first floor of the house.
Frank's room was situated in the second of two floors. Also on the top floor was he father's room and a small office type room. The bottom floor was very basic with a kitchen and two rooms, one for each of his sisters. With no bathrooms in the house Frank had made his way out of the house and to a small nearby creek to bath. Oddly Cubone, who would usually accompany him, was no where to be found.
Frank was dressed in his white work pants and like normal lacked a shirt. He also had his bag with his homemade remedies and an alarm clock.
"You better get goin' kiddo!" was the last words Frank heard from his dad.
His journey had begun. The walk to Pallet Town was not a far one, but was down the side of mountain. Frank figured it would be sundown before he would reach his destination.
********************
The sun had started its retreat from the sky, and just as he planned Frank had reached Pallet Town. 'Now I've gotta hurry since everyone else has probably already been here' he thought to himself as he made the ascent up the lab's front hill.
"How nice of you to show" was the greeting he received from Professor Oak.
"Yeah, uh sorry, I overslept." was the quick response
"Save your excuses lets get this rolling"
Oak lead Frank through his lab, as Frank's eyes wondered through the halls of the lab he wanted to explore every nook and cranny but made sure he stayed on pace with Oak.
"Now this is most important," Oak handed Frank a green sphere with what looked like cut marks on it "also you'll need these Pokeballs and one of these Pokedexes."
"Woah isn't there a manly Pokedex? Or am I stuck with the pink one?" Oak made no acknowledgment has he turned and grabbed the only Pokedex remaining.
"Looks like your the one suffering from your nice sleep," Oak handed Frank the Pokedex "now for some quick tips, the first thing I handed you that would be your starter, Scyther, secondly was the Pokeballs those are what catch wild Pokemon don't miss five times or else they'll break. Oh and they're activated by voice command now. Lastly is the Pokedex. Any Pokemon you catch will be stored there and it can easily reconize any wild Pokemon and give you some facts about it. You can also scan what you've seen, and it too is voice activated."
"Alright sounds good," Frank responded throwing the Pokeballs, including the green one into his bag, "I guess this goodbye."
"Yes, yes good luck on your journey!" Oak said as leading Frank out of the lab. "Oh yes I did forget something."
"And what's that?"
"Why in heaven's sake is your shirt?"
"Well why where a shirt when you look this good?" Frank quickly responded with a smirk on his face.
Oak just shook his head as Frank descended down the hill.
'Alright let's see this badboy in action!' Frank thought as he grabbed the green ball and threw it in front of him. Nothing happened. 'Oh wait maybe I need to say something.'
"Open!"
Scyther bursted out of the ball and went to examine his new owner.
"Sweet man, I'm gonna call you Jet." Scyther jumped around as if he were excited or happy. Frank just took this as a sign of approval. Without returning Jet to his Pokeball, the two went on their way down the hill and into the new journey that laid ahead.
Chapter 2: The dysfunctional duo!
“How did I get roped into this?” Mike wondered out loud.
"Excuse me..." came from a voice from behind Mike. He turned around to locate the voice and smiled. The voice had come from a teenage girl, who couldn't have been more than thirteen-years-old.
The girl took a step back, surprised by Mike’s appearance. She then asked nervously, "It's just that you have a Budew... and... I just got my Pokémon... and... I was wondering if you wanted a Pokémon battle."
He looked at Budew who looked back. Budew shrugged shoulders or his “vines” as if to say “Why not?”
“Sure, why not?” Mike said. The girl smiled, excited to have a battle. The two wandered over to a small field, located close by. Putting his newly acquired items in his pack, Mike took a position on one side of the field. “You go first.” He said chivalries.
“Ok. Go Tangela!” Tori cried as she released her Pokémon into the battle. Out popped out what appeared to be a mess of vines with feet. Mike’s eyebrows rose as he took out Jack.
“Tangela, the Vine Pokémon.” Jack said. “The blue vines shrouding its body are covered in a growth of fine hair. It is known to be ticklish.”
“So don’t get caught!” Mike said, thinking he had this battle in the bag. “Ok Budew let’s start with a Sleep Power!”
Budew opened up its vines, reveling a red spotted one and a blue spotted one. Out flew a cloud of yellow powder. It slowly drifted on the breeze, until it came into contact with Tangela. Tangela tried her hardest, but her eyes slowly shut until she was fast asleep.
“All right, now’s our chance Budew! Use Tackle!” Mike roared triumphantly. Budew looked back at Mike. “What the crap do you mean you can’t use Tackle? You’re just throwing your body at the opponent.” Mike cried out in frustration.
Suddenly he stopped freaking out. As a thought slowly entered his brain, Mike got a devilish look on his face. He quickly ran over to Budew. “Hey Budew, I’ve got an idea. But you’re going to have to trust me.” Mike said quietly.
“Budew?” the Pokémon asked worried.
Before the Vine Pokémon knew what hit him, Mike was holding Budew in the air like a football, and its target was Tangela. “BUDEW!!” Budew screeched as he realized that Mike was indenting to throw Budew like a missile.
“Here goes nothing!” Bobby hollered over Budew’s cries. Squirming all the way, Budew was launched into the air with a bit of a spiral. With a loud smack, Budew hit Tangela. Tangela woke up with a loud screech as it was thrown through the air and smacked right into a tree.
“Tangela!” Tori cried out, worried for her Pokemon.
“All right Budew!” Mike said happily. Budew however didn’t return the feeling. A white hot fire of fury burned in Budew’s eyes. “Oh don’t be like that!” Mike said. “Look we won!”
“I don’t think so!” Tori said. “Tangela use Ingrain!” Tangela’s eyes snapped open and she jumped back into the battle. The Vine Pokemon began to spread its vines into the grown and slowly started to look healthier.
“Uh-oh. Jack what’s Ingrain?” Mike asked his Pokedex.
“Ingrain, a Grass Type Status Move. The user of Ingrain plants roots in the ground and absorbs nutrients from the ground.” Jack answered.
“Absorbs from the ground huh…?” Mike said thoughtfully. “Ok! Budew use Absorb on the ground around Tangela!”
Budew reluctantly complied as was shocked when he saw the nutrients coming to him instead of Tangela. Budew started to feel great! Tangela was looking thin and brittle. Struck with sudden inspiration, Budew charged at Tangela knocking her to the ground. Tangela was knocked out cold.
“Ha-HA!” Mike cried. “We win! Great job Budew!” Mike bent over to give Budew a high-five but the Sprout Pokemon had other ideas. He jumped on Mike’s head and began to bite it. “SEE?! YOU CAN USE BITE!!” Mike said in pain.
“HEY!!” Tori cried over the commotion the two were making. Mike and Budew stopped for a minute and looked at her. “I’m going to get stronger and then I’m gonna win in a battle against you!” She cried out as she grabbed Tangela and ran off.
“You go ahead and do that.” Mike said. “YOWCH!” he yelled as Budew resumed his eating of Mike’s head.
Zimvee - Well done, excellent strategy.
Mike's Budew defeated Tori's Tangela and grew to level 6.
Okay, it is ready. Here we go:
Route 1
Number of Posts: 2
Description: A path between Pallet Town and Viridian City with many beginner trainers just starting their journey. There are only a small variety of Pokémon to capture here.
What can you do on a Route?
Generally the main two things you can do on a route are capture Pokémon and battle trainers. You can do many other things; you know free will and all that... everyone have fun.
WARNING: Beware of the TR-affiliated scientist and top TR Admin who lurk on this Route. The Admin will simply observe what’s going on, but the scientist will more than likely pick a fight.
TR Admin Nighthawk
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h216/DarkArcanine/Nighthawk.jpg
The pre-teen appeared to be more easy-going than his bloodthirsty Persian. His Mohawk-styled hair was jet black. Though only a youngster, he had a strong physique, but was still slim. Nighthawk’s outfit consisted of a matching short-sleeved black shirt and long shorts. Fluttering behind him in the wind, and fastened around his neck with a silver chain, was a black cape. Lastly, imprinted on the inside of his right wrist was the tattoo of a black hawk.
TR-affiliated scientist
Sporting black hair, he appeared to be of foreign descent. Snugly fitted on his face was a pair of black-rimmed reading glasses. He wore a long sleeved grey striped business shirt and blue denim shorts, with the whitest of white sandshoes covering his feet.
Note – the title specifying the rarity of a Pokémon refers to how hard a Pokémon is to catch, i.e. a much better post is required to catch an uncommon Pokémon than to catch a common Pokémon.
How I level the Pokémon you’re catching will depend on how good your post is. When you’re trying to catch a Pokémon, you cannot decide if you catch it. When trying to catch a Pokémon you have to finish your post off when you throw the Poké Ball and wait for my response telling you if the capture was successful or not. You cannot continue until you know that it was caught. In battles, I will level up your Pokémon depending on the quality of your battle post.
The Learning Curve
The sun had now fallen behind the horizon as Frank and Jet made their way out of Pallet Town. Before embarking into Route 1, Frank thought that if there were Pokemon roaming around the mountain then there must be some in the route. With the added darkness Frank disregarded the idea to venture inward.
“Come on Jet!” he exclaimed as he held out his green pokeball. A flash of red light came from the pokeball and surrounded Jet. ‘Cool’ he thought to himself as put the pokeball away.
Frank walked away from the main road out of town and decided to set up his camp there. He had a small tent in his bag that he put up. Lacking any matches or lighters to start a fire he had to go without any warmth or food.
************************
Suddenly the tent began to shake. Frank quickly rose out of the tent to see what was going on. A group of Zigzagoons was investigating the tent.
“Go on! Shoot!” The Zigzagoons all began to flee. But Frank noticed something still wrong. He grabbed a flashlight and examined the area. A Starly was hovering overhead. It seems as if it was leading the Zigzagoons.
“Alright, now get outta here.” Frank said as flicking his hand to scare the Starly. However the Starly just landed. Frank quickly grabbed Jet’s pokeball and exclaimed “Get ‘em Jet!”
A red beam shot out of the pokeball and Jet appeared. Starly began to hover again and using its wings it created a small whirlwind of the surrounding leaves.
“Quick Attack!” Frank shouted pointing to the wild Starly. Jet began to move quickly toward Starly . Starly thrusted its wings toward oncoming Jet and the whirlwind of leaves went toward Jet. The leaves hit Jet and he slipped and fell, Starly took advantage of this and made a dash toward him and began to peck at Jet.
“Jet! Do something!” Frank began to jump up and down in excitement. Jet then swiped his right scythe at the Starly, it was a direct hit. The hit sent Starly back a dozen feet toward the ground. Jet then jumped onto his feet and dashed toward the injured Starly. However before he could reach it, Starly jumped up and flew away.
Frank held out Jet’s pokeball and commanded Jet to return. The red beam captured Jet and returned him to his home. Frank then made his way back to the tent and returned to his sleep.
Route 1 – 1st post
As Josephine continued walking down the path to Viridian City, the morning air was warming up and a flock of Pidgey was still twittering the dawn chorus in their melodious way. Half an hour later, after disappearing into the tall grass of Route 1 because she was getting more and more irritated at not being able to find any Pokémon, the red-haired teen decided to stop and rest.
Her impatience got the better of her and she swore. “This just ****ing sucks! Why haven’t I found anything yet?!” Josephine muttered out loud, as she shook her head angrily. “Where are they…?” she added, as she reached into her bright yellow backpack for the book her mother had most likely placed there. Just as she arrived at the part on Pokémon capturing, the lone Poké Ball on her belt wriggled and burst open.
The light landed on terra firma to materialize into Josephine’s first ever Pokémon.
“I need your help, Shinx,” Josephine murmured, while stroking the lion-cub’s soft fur.
“Shii?” The Electric type asked, saying “Me?” in her language.
The fourteen-year-old redhead looked at her starter oddly. “Did you understand me? Or is it that I can’t understand you?”
“Shinx Shii!” The female Shinx answered, happy that the teen had worked out that they needed to bond and be friends before the Pokémon could be understood.
Oh well, that’s one problem that’s been sorted out, Josephine thought. “Can you find some wild Pokémon for me?” she asked politely, though her eyes betrayed her anxiety.
“Shii!” Shinx growled, telling the red-haired teen that she was not a sniffer dog and would not degrade herself by doing something that was meant for them. To show her irritation, she spat and hissed madly.
Josephine crouched down and put one hand on the side of the female lion-cub’s face. “Please, Riley? For me?”
Shinx could see Josephine's sincerity, which through her tantrum out the window. The Pokémon even recognized that the trainer had given her a nickname. Riley hesitated, murmuring “Shii…” as she did so.
Josephine opened her mouth to speak, but stopped upon noticing a Pokémon stumble into her line of sight. It was a small yellow and white shrew, which was visibly trembling. The Ground type had black eyes, a short inward curving tail and stubby, pointed ears. As it uttered drawn out, squeaky cries of “Shrew!” Josephine noticed that the poor creature was distracted and had no idea its path had brought it to a trainer.
“That’s a Sandshrew!” Josephine spoke softly while referring to her Pokédex. “According to the Pokédex, they’re not even supposed to be on Route 1.” She flicked the device closed and glanced at the Sandshrew, before turning to her Pokémon with a firm expression on her enthusiastic face. “We can’t just leave it here. We should try and capture it and take it to the Pokémon Centre in Viridian City for a health check.”
The Sandshrew heard Josephine. Glaring at Riley indifferently as if to say <You aren’t worth my time.>, he nevertheless straightened his posture and held up his claws, before lunging at the Shinx.
That’s a Scratch attack, the red-haired girl thought. “Riley, dodge and then use Tackle!”
<I can’t let them have perished for nothing. I must remain free,> the shrew thought.
Riley agilely circumvented the emotion-spurred attack. The Electric type ran forward, with her claws outstretched. She then delivered a single strike to Sandshrew’s chest. Shrugging off the Tackle attack, as if it hadn’t struck him at all, the clearly troubled shrew charged forward once more. It was at this moment that Josephine realized that it was more than just emotion that had goaded the Ground type into action. She knew that he would fight to the death to uphold more than just his honour.
“Shinx, Shii! Shinx, Shirar!” Riley’s speech was once again out of character for the cheeky, Kantonian-born Sinnoh Pokémon. The Electric type’s speech had fulfilled its intended purpose, however. His anger rising, the emotional Sandshrew leaped up and fell onto Riley, forcing her to use her claws to defend herself.
Jeez, that’s gotta hurt, Josephine shook her head slightly and winced at the sight of her Pokémon crashing into a nearby tree.
“Shin!” Riley said, winded, before recovering enough to rise to her clawed paws. Sandshrew had survived the ‘crash landing’ as he had curled up into a ball before impact. Uncurling himself, he marched over to where Riley was and thrust a clawed paw at the Electric feline’s throat, the cat of whom froze at the action.
Relatively uncommunicative as he was, his lone sentence that day would be what stood out in the Shinx’s mind for many a day to come. <Don’t… insult… shrews.> Sandshrew’s breathing was laboured and raspy, as if just saying those three words hurt that badly.
Oh-kay, I think it’s time I kicked it up a notch, Josephine believed it was time to rack up a capture and be on her way to Viridian. “All right, Riley! Let’s go! Give it all you’ve got!” the girl yelled, before Sandshrew could muster up a counter-attack.
“Shii!” The Electric feline replied decisively. The Shinx let out a frustrated cry and let loose a ferocious lunge attack that completely caught the Ground type off guard. Riley barrelled into the sandy coloured shrew and fastened her minute fangs on his throat. Clamping down, a bit of blood spurted out.
Wha-? Whoa! I didn’t think Riley had it in her! Josephine looked shocked.
<You’ll pay for that,> the shrew vowed mentally, as he looked himself over after pushing the cat Pokémon away. One paw defiantly wiped away a tiny amount of blood and he was starting to weaken, thanks to the throat bite. He tensed, his arms raising his sharp claws as he prepared for another attack.
Bugger, what now? The red-haired trainer thought, panicking slightly. That Sandshrew is still going strong, he’s not slowing down at all! I suppose I could make use of Scratch, but still…
“Riley! Here’s what we’re gonna do! Dodge Sandshrew’s current attack and counter with a Tackle and Leer combination!” Josephine yelled out.
“Shirar,” the female feline answered.
For what she hoped was the last time today, Riley took a step forward and widened her yellow eyes. The Sandshrew opened his mouth in a silent gasp as the effects of the Leer attack seized him and he shivered involuntarily. Then, as the shrew struggled to regain his composure, Riley rushed in and, with a few well-placed bodily shoves, managed to reduce his energy even more.
<I’ve failed them,> was the shrew’s last thought before falling to the grassy ground. One paw was all that was supporting him as he breathed arduously.
Josephine heaved an empty Poké Ball at the yellow and white being that was doubled over on the ground. After several seconds of struggling, Sandshrew finally resigned himself to capture.
“YEAH! WE CAUGHT SANDSHREW!” Josephine cheered, reaching for her newest Pokémon’s containment device and smiling widely.
At that exact moment, as if it had delayed responding on purpose, Josephine’s Pokédex switched itself on and recorded Sandshrew’s information. “Sandshrew, the Mouse Pokémon – a Pokémon of the Ground type. To protect itself from attackers, Sandshrew curls up into a ball. They live in arid regions with minimal rainfall.”
“Shrii?” Riley asked, just as Josephine face faulted.
“SERIOUSLY, PEOPLE!” the teen screamed in annoyance. “Why the hell didn’t my Pokédex tell me that before I tried to catch Sandshrew?!”
(OOC: I need to cut down on dialogue.)
Route 1-Pt. 1
Jay began his march across Route 1 as soon as he left Oak's Lab. Jay holds his hands in his pockets, has his ear buds in; listening to some of his favorite music. As Jay mumbles the lyrics to the song, he begins to speak to himself, "Alright, so this is it, huh? Who am I talking to exactly, I don't know. Whatever."
Jay opened up the front pocket of his backpack and took out his Pokéball with the purple cloud on it, "Come on out Gastly."
"Gastly."
Jay's Gastly began to hover around it's trainer, as if he was examining Jay, "What? Don't like me or something?"
The Gastly gave Jay a wide-grinned smile and floated around Jay's head, "So it's like that, huh?"
Jay pondered for a moment, stroking his chin, "I feel like I should give you a nickname or something. What do you think?"
The Gastly moved it's body up and down through the air, as if he was nodding along to Jay's suggestion, "Gast-Ly."
Jay walked around Gastly, closely examining it. Taking in every detail he could from Gastly's ominous purple gas, to his eyes and mouth, "How about Casper?"
Gastly frowned at Jay, "Gastly."
"Kon?"
Gastly's frown grew harder and it relentlessly shook its body from side-to-side, as if saying "NO."
Jay shrugged his shoulders at his Gastly, "I don't really have any other nicknames for you. Well there sort of is one, however I don't think it will suit you at all. Oh well, I'll tell you anyway. The other nickname for you is 'Face.' I mean you are pretty much a floating face."
Gastly looked at Jay and started to laugh, "Gastly. Gastly. Gastly."
A vein popped up on Jay's forehead, his face grew red, and he turned to face the other way, "We'll forget about a nickname for now. Let's just go catch some other Pokémon."
Jay walked along the Route with Gastly floating by his side, "When are we gonna see somet-"
In front of Jay appeared a Pokémon that has cream and brown fur, with alternating stripes. Jay pointed at the Pokémon, "Check it out Gastly, a Zigzagoon."
Jay opened up the front pocket of his backpack again and brought out his green Pokédex, "Now Gastly, what attacks do you know?"
Jay pressed a few buttons on his Pokédex and nodded, "So Hypnosis, Lick, Spite, and Shadow Ball. Hmm......how do you know Shadow Ball? Anyway Gastly, go and use Shadow Ball on that Zigzagoon."
The Zigzagoon's fur began to raise and it stared at Gastly, "Zigzagoon. Zigzagoon."
It's as if Zigzagoon is telling Gastly to back off or something bad will happen. Gastly paid no attention to the Zigzagoon's threat and his body began to glow a dark shade of blue. Next a black ball formed in front of Gastly and was shot at the Zigzagoon at an alarming speed. The Zigzagoon watched the attack get closer and closer to it until.....the ball went right through it and hit the ground. Gastly, Zigzagoon, and Jay all looked surprised at the weird event that occured, "What just happened?"
Zigzagoon growled at Gastly and ran towards the ball of gas, attempting to hit it with a tackle. The Zigzagoon went straight through Gastly and landed in a patch of grass, "Zagoon?"
"Gas?"
The Zigzagoon then sprinted away into the grass. Jay slumped his shoulders and took a seat on the ground, "I knew those kinds of attacks didn't hurt you, but I didn't know your attacks didn't affect normal-type Pokémon. I think each one of us learned something here, including that little Zigzagoon."
Jay sat up and raised a fist into the air, "I'll catch one of you someday! You hear me Zigzagoon?!"
Jay and Gastly continued on the Route, slightly depressed at the event that transpired a few moments before, "There'll be other Pokémon Gastly."
Bzzz. Bzzz.
A red streak flew by Jay and Gastly, "What the?"
"Gastly?"
Jay took his Pokédex out of his backpack again, "I really need to find a better place then my backpack to keep this thing, maybe my back pocket or something? Whatever, let's see what Pokémon that is."
"Yanma- Its eyes can see 360 degrees without moving its head. It won't miss prey, even those behind it."
Jay looked at his Pokédex, "Nice, we should be able to hit that thing with you attacks Gastly. Pokédex, from now on you will be known as Mandark. Anyway Gastly, go and use Lick on that Yanma."
The Yanma hovered in place looking at Gastly and Jay, "Yanma?"
Gastly approached the Yanma with its tongue hanging from its mouth. Jay looked at Gastly and covered his face with his palm, "Can you be anymore obvious Gastly?"
The Yanma stared at the approaching Gastly and tried a Tackle attack. As the Yanma got closer to Gastly with the attack, the Yanma was struck by Gastly's long tongue, "Yanma!"
The Yanma tried to continue its attack but went straight through Gastly. Jay looked at Gastly and smiled, "Nice Gastly."
Jay grabbed a empty Pokéball from his bag, for later. Jay continued to give instructions to Gastly, "Alright, next use Spite!"
Gastly glared at the Yanma, "Gastly."
The Wild Yanma began to fly around quickly for a few seconds, "Yanma."
The Yanma began to stare at Gastly when its eyes began to glow red, and a red beam struck Gastly's body, "Gastly?"
Jay looked at Gastly, "You hurt anywhere? Anything strange with your body?"
Gastly looked at Jay with a slightly confused expression, "Well, if it wasn't anything, next use a Shadow Ball attack."
Gastly's body began to glow dark-blue, again, and a black orb appeared in front of its body. Next the orb was shot towards the buzzing Yanma and struck its abdomen. The Yanma slightly yelled in pain, "Yan!"
The Yanma was beginning to grow annoyed and angry with Jay and Gastly. It started to fly at full speed towards Gastly, "Come on Yanma you already tried th-"
The Yanma came into contact with Gastly, knocking Gastly back a little bit. Jay looked to be in shock at what he just saw. A normal-type move striking a Ghost-type Pokémon, "What the? How did that even work?"
"Ly. Gas?"
Jay began to think back what events took place during this short battle, "That red beam, that must be it. Gastly, we can't afford you to get hit again. Hypnosis."
Gastly's eyes began to glow a dark red and black waves shot out from its body, Gastly. Ly."
The Yanma tried to get away from the Hypnosis attack but as the Hypnosis waves traveled further from Gastly's body, the waves circumference grew greater. The Hypnosis attack enveloped Yanma and it fell to the ground in a deep sleep. Jay jumped for joy and readied his Pokéball, "Good work Gastly. Go Pokéball."
Jay threw the Pokéball towards Yanma but overthrew it slightly, where it hit an empty patch of dirt and slightly cracked, "Don't say anything Gastly."
Jay pulled out another Pokéball from his back and stepped a few feet closer to the sleeping Yanma, "I won't miss this time, go Pokéball. I also really need to just start storing stuff in my pockets."
Jay threw the new Pokéball towards Yanma, and this time it didn't miss. The Yanma became a large red energy and was forcefully pulled into the ball. Next the Pokéball's center button glowed red and began to shake.
