{Part 2/2: The New Region}
NOVEMBER 11, 1620
Only a few had gone,
To explore the grassy lawn,
Nobody was in sight,
No even a Pokémon.
The explorers picked berries,
And other sweet delicacies.
They washed all their garments,
And gathered lumber from the trees.
NOVEMBER 26, 1620
Some travelers were on the lookout,
To see if natives were about,
But none were to be found,
The Pilgrims were in doubt.
Many houses were found,
Abandoned stores all around,
Even a few empty Pokéballs,
The village lay without a sound.
They had to take what was here,
But this was only of slight cheer,
Only a few scraps were left,
The rest was all but drear.
Meanwhile, back on the ship,
People were sick, and sore on the hip,
Some of them were even dying,
Some of their deaths could just slip.
DECEMBER 6, 1620
But when all seemed to be dead,
Our men saw a group of people up ahead,
And what they had with them,
Was an unknown Pokémon, with a large head.
But as they approached,
The natives didn't want to be encroached,
They quickly threw their Pokéballs,
And quickly reproached.
The species they saw were new,
They had no idea what they could do
They had to fight as hard as they can,
And fought thru and thru.
The outcome had the natives flee,
We chased as fast as our legs could carry,
But they suddenly vanished,
The strangers we no longer could see.
DECEMBER 12, 1620
Our plans for settling here we must abort,
We soon returned to port,
We set course for another area,
The more private sort.
JANUARY 6, 1621
We have made our new domain,
There was large area in the plain,
Few houses were built,
We hope this could be our gain.
JANUARY 13, 1621
My prediction was far from true,
A snowstorm fell and strong winds blew,
Some of our people were growing ill,
What else could we do?
JANUARY 19, 1621
Most of our workers grew ill,
Hopes of them recovered were nil,
We sent our toughest Pokémon,
To do heavy work in their will.
FEBRUARY 5, 1621
Few of our passengers have passed away,
Such a high price we pay,
To continue to live in this land.
But we kept our faith, and chose to stay.
FEBRUARY 27, 1621
The snow is slowing down,
The dirt was again brown,
Our Pokémon did well,
And did their best in our small town.
But many of our members were ill,
A few were dying still,
We again considered leaving,
Only a miracle could keep us tranquil.
MARCH 7, 1621
The miracle did appear,
The native's leader, who was very queer,
Came and welcome us,
This stranger brought us cheer.
He told us that they wanted peace,
So that hiding and fighting will cease,
In return of his request,
He wanted to show us their way of ease.
We agreed for everyone's sake,
A treaty we did make,
They accepted it gratefully,
The agreement they did take.
MARCH 18, 1621
The strange people's leader,
Returned with a Pokémon trainer,
Who had experience beyond compare,
Yet he appeared much plainer.
MARCH 19, 1621-NOVEMBER 24, 1621
Over months, sunrise and sunset,
The trainer that we have met,
Taught us their ways of Pokémon,
And let my children keep one as a pet.
He taught us how to grow food,
The water they used was good,
In just one month,
A large bush of berries stood.
Throughout the bountiful days,
All the fields we graze,
Both us and they had more food than ever,
Everyone is enjoying this phase.
NOVEMBER 25, 1621
The harvest is complete,
We were all tired and beat,
To enjoy such blessing as this,
We gathered and prepared to eat.
Before we begun to dine,
The lost ones we must pine,
And remember the great things they've done,
And their spirits were divine.
We then thanked for all the bliss,
That we have all of this,
For our safe journey to a new land,
And the native conflict's dismiss.
Everybody was full of joy,
We ate with glee, every girl and boy,
The Pokémon, both ours and theirs, played all day,
This day shall always be something to enjoy.
Now this log I must close,
Such challenging paths we chose,
But we kept our faith,
And with it, we overcame many foes.
..Phew! I'm glad that I finally finished this. Writing can be a stressful work, but all you need is the time and effort to handle it.
