I got my permit already. I can use it up to age 21, but I can get my license in 2 months if I know how to pass the behind the wheel thingy.

1. I got my permit a month after my birthday... and we finished up the Driver's Ed portion of that Safety Ed class at the end of October... I had to wait because the DMVs here are always pretty busy when there's no school going on.

3. I failed my driver's test the first time because I completely forgot how to do a 90-degree back-in. Only had to wait two weeks since that's apparently the only thing I had bombed. I even aced the parallel parking both times. Of course, I haven't used either method since the second try. XD;

Good thing the first two tests are on the state's dime here.

4. You guys are talking about driver permits/license, what a coincidence. I'm learning out of a handbook right now by myself and will take the written test at the end of the month (forced ;;). Not sure if I'll pass or not, though, since it seems most people took a class.

5. Vroom vroom! DRIVING IS FUN! 10 points for parked cars! 100 points for pedestrians! You win forever if you take out a school bus while in a sub-compact! :D *shot*

Sammyskitty took Drivers Ed and acutually got kicked out...the teacher let Sammyskitty back in but Sammyskitty didn't do good behind the wheel

Personally, Sammyskitty doesn't want to drive

10. my mother's the same way sometimes

Sammyskitty is going to have to learn how to drive at some point because it's hard to get anywhere in America - or in life when living in America - without knowing how.

12. But you'd have to stay in highly urban areas, or live less than 5 miles from your workplace, for most of those to be viable options of transportation. Most of the nation lives in suburbia, and bus stations tend to be stationed quite far apart in suburbia.

Yeah, what Dondon said. If you live in a place like say... San Francisco, you're better off using public transportation anyways, and you don't really have to worry about having a car too much. However, if you live in a place like mine, a driving is something you really need to learn because otherwise it's forty-five minutes to an hour just to walk to the nearest grocery store.

Not spoiled, just living in an urban area rather than suburban. I like where I live personally; I wouldn't be able to live in a city.

Not directly, but seeing your other posts, I got the hint she did. XD

18. Everything was at least a mile away from my house when we moved in 12 years ago... except for several parks. Now there's some stuff that's come in since, but a lot of it's still at the edge of that mile mark.

My street is a half-mile long in itself. So yeah, the places 'round here are pretty far from where I live.

20. My street is probably a mile long, but I live at the end closest to the center of town, and the road hooks back toward town at the far end, and it's still a mile and a half to my small town's downtown.

And if you live in Baltimore or it's immediate suburbs, you live in an urban area. (b'-')b

I live 25 miles outside the Twin Cities beltway, so I'm in a very rural area.

21. oh, ok.

yah, idk how long me street is. it got chopped in a few places to make room for more important roads, like... its either York Road or Northern Parkway that made the chop closest to me.

22. Some people who work in the Twin Cities commute in from 80 miles out each day. That's a freaking long drive. D;

23.

I live in an area where each property has about 3-4 acres, though if you go down the dirt trail at the end of my road, you eventually end up in an actual neighborhood.
